I really enjoy and admire watching an experienced and skilled seamstress at work! and I appreciate you sharing your skills with us...thank you so much.
I love your narration, it's so informative and easy to follow. I've lost weight but trying to not buy new clothes so I wish to alter my puffer coat, especially at the waist, and so this video was really helpful!
Wow, a perfect fix. I found a puffer coat for my adult daughter at the thrift store and the sizing is somewhat large now that she has lost weight after having a baby. This has been very helpful for me, I was just going to take in the side seams without opening the lining but you have given me the confidence to do maybe half as good a job as you. I’ll do my best.
That's so nice! And yes, it looks more difficult opening the lining but, after all is easier because you don't need to figure out how to connect seam if you don't open 😉 and not mentioning that your work will look better. Just keep in mind the feathers. You don't want to open the case and let them go 🌨🤪
Honestly, I would never undertake such a tedious and difficult job. Would suggest to the customer that she buy a new jacket in a smaller size or just continue to wear her puffer as it is. To me, some jobs are just not worth the effort and no amount of money would make me want to do it. Okay, maybe if I could charge one million dollars, it would be! But, you are an angel to take on such a difficult job!
Yes. I completely understand your point and agree with it to certain degree. I mean, you are totally right from the business perspective but I LOVE to take challenges. Difficult things make me feel good. I know it's a little crazy but, with the time, I find that half of them are really easy to do, and, the other half... well... exactly what you said 😁
I've been a seamstress for 20 years, but I'm still learning something every day. :) Thank you so much for helping me improve on this. My sewing experience is mostly in women's clothing. especially evening and party wear. This week, I received an order for a suit jacket shortener from a client. I looked in your list to see if there is any video about it, but I couldn't see it. I've done it a few times before, but I'd like to learn more technical information. Thank you again for all your amazing info💙🧡💚
Hi here. Thank you so much for your kind words and support. Means a lot to me! I had made a video on shortening a coat and the process is the same. The only difference is how the front is done. I will have to make a video about it, definitely! In the meanwhile, here is the link to that video: th-cam.com/video/JPdxLFWNGM4/w-d-xo.html Good luck!
I am so inspired by how creative you are in your approach! Every time I watch your videos I get so many new tips and tricks. Do you recommend any books or resources for learning tailoring tricks like this?
tricks can be learned on your own by taking apart tailoring and learning from what you see, so consider yard sales and thrift stores to pick up a few really good tailored items to de-construct.
You do a amazing job and you are professional at it. Iam really happy that i found this video so i can learn to do it without stressing that much . Thanks ❤
Awesome video , wow truly amazing. I have a question 🙋♀️ why do you mark outside and inside? Isn’t the inside marks the only ones you see when sewing? I’m curious as to what is the reason for the outside marks. Thank you for all your excellent info on doing alterations. 😃
You are absolutely right. You don't need to mark the pins outside. In fact, it is a waste of time. I do it because it gives me self assurance. When I sew and I see that the seam matches somehow the marks, I feel more comfortable with the job I've done. 😉😁
@@DowntownTailoring thank you for answering, I love to sew and alterations are a big part of it. I love to learn and you are so nice to share your knowledge. Thanks again. 🥰
This is awesome you did a perfect job. I know it is more work for you to make these videos but I want you to know I appreciate them so much I could watch you all day. Actually, when I have time on my hands I go back and watch your videos I have watched many times before. Do you do a lot of patches on Motorcycle vests and jackets I have many requests for them. I just bought a new machine it is a Consew 146 RB industrial zig-zag straight stitch machine. I love it so far the other machine I have is a Singer 20 u it is not a walking foot machine. I sew my year number and letters on Letterman Jackets with it. Plus I have other Janome and Babylock machines LOL
Congratulations. This is a great machine. I do get some patches request but not too many. Most of the time, the customer and I agree to sew the patches through the lining. I use the same Juki that I prepared for jeans. Cheers 🙂
I have wanted to do this with my jacket for years but the designer put the pocket right at the waist on the side seam. If i take in the waist front and back the pockets will just spread open.❗↔️♦️🙏↔️👐
Its hard to find nice looking things in plus sizes. Not as many colors available. They assume all plus size people are 🍎 shaped not hourglass ⏳. Why is such a big demographic treated so badly?
Thank you so much for tackling this beast of an alteration and showing us step by step. I love your videos! ❤️
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it :))
@@DowntownTailoring well done!!!

Didn't know this was possible with all the feathers. The result is amazing!
Thanks 🥰

Awesome tip on getting inside the jacket through the back lining and then (@ 8:42) closing the lining back up through the sleeve! Thank you! ☺♥
Glad it was helpful! 😊

Excellent!
Muy bien, muchas gracias por sus tutoriales
Muchas gracias por seguirnos!
Hi great video. If I send my puffer to you do do it roughly how much is it for you to do for me ? Bit too difficult for me 😅
OMG is there anything you won't tackle? Thank you for reminding me that it's all just fabrics and not to be intimidated.
Brilliant!
Thank you 🥰
Nice
🥰🥰🥰
This is what I want to do, Thanks
Hi, where is your business located? I need a coat taken in and I definitely can't do it myself. Help!
Oh a lot of work! How much do you charge for this alteration? I think I'd rather just pay a professional to do it
You did a fine job but that's more than I would want to do as much as i want a coat that looks like that. .
I bought a Nike puffer parka jacket for $70 worth 325$ it's 2xL I wear I large.. I will be doing this
Great choice! Let me know how it goes! 😊
Im getting mine done at a sewing place
Yessss! 🥰
Is it possible to reduce a puffer jacket a whole size down?
Yes! Most of the time, it is possible to reduce a whole size. It all depends on the construction. Cheers 🥰
Where are you located! I need a coat done. And I don’t wanna do it 😂😂
I’m in Canada 🇨🇦
❤ New sub
Thanks! I’m excited to have you here! 🤗
My puffer coat is size to small
Is there an easier way
I think this is the safest way. Reducing at the seams. Cheers 🥰
How much does this service cost?
Hi. Around 80 CAD. Cheers 😊
I sent you an email!
