I coach for a living, and have dealt with injuries on the field. Every injury is serious and the way these coaches acted at Maryland makes my blood boil. The staff should be charged with Negligent homicide we are taught, tested and pay for licenses that literally say we can spot those red flags and protect the athlete IN EVERY SPORT to allow a young adult to die under their care is nothing less than murder.
I agree with you 100% if this kind of negligence happened in any other way that led to the death of someone they'd get charged and so should these coaches
ARS Goalkeeping I would say it was shocking but it was in Maryland. That place is really dangerous. Some people their are just fucking animals. Those coaches should be thrown in jail.
I am university of Maryland student and what happened at my college saddens me. These men should be criminal charges for their actions because this is unacceptable.
I don't care about black James bond, but what they should do is make more original stories with black people instead of just inserting black people just to seem diverse. Same thing with inserting women, like Ghostbusters 2016
Always afraid of diversity for the sake of diversity and not merit, because it tries to treat diversity like a controlled substance instead of naturally letting it happen. It's like if a black/hispanic student gets into Harvard above a white/asian student, it should be because they outperformed them and not because the school is trying to boost their diversity numbers or have lower expectations for these students. With the Ghostbusters thing, this is like that with the statement of "it's time for James Bond to be diverse" when I think it should be "wouldn't it be cool if Idris Elba played James Bond". His skin color doesn't define him as much as people are pointing it out and that was the problem with the new Ghostbusters where they caricaturized the women and made it political above making a good movie to prove people who were skeptical wrong. just my 2 cents
The system is what's causing the burnout for many because they can't keep up with the demand. A lot of people go into becoming a content creator as a solo act thinking that they can become the next big influencer as long as they post a few selfie vlogs. But what they're actually going up against are creators with multiple staff members, teams that split the workload, or outsource their editing to an independent contractor. There are only a handful that can pull off the actual solo act and do it easily. These guys are outliers, not the norm. Up-and-comers need to understand that and prepare themselves for the loooooooooooong grind that comes with being a successful content creator.
Also in Japan there was an university scandal, where it was discovered a big university(of Tokyo I think) regularly gave male engagement test scores extra points to keep the female population low. And that has sparked an online feminist movement of women sharing their experiences in Japan. It would be cool if Phil at least commented on this. Bring attention.
Yea that is true and something that is very rare in this day and age. Most usually will deflect or create some type of wiggle room IF the apologize or accept responsibility Key word IF.
Regarding “COMFORT WOMEN” and Japan’s war crimes. Phil, *this* is the reason that China has held a very deep resentment towards Japan since WW II. My hometown is former “Manchuria” (now Harbin), which was occupied by Japan during WW II. Not only were our women raped (“Rape of Nanking”), babies sometimes burnt alive, but prisoners were often the live subjects of cruel medical experiments such as inducing hypothermia in a subject and then throwing boiling water in them to see the reaction (google it). The *Japanese government has NEVER issued an official apology about ANYTHING that was done* including KNOWN and WELL DOCUMENTED massacres, such as the “Rape of Nanking.” War is unfair, but what was committed is downright inhumane and cruel. The past may be the past, but Japan needs to acknowledge everything that has happened instead of ignoring it.
Do you know what's worse? They don't teach these things in schools like Germany does so all students are actually clueless as to what horrors they have done during that time. Some students actually think it's a conspiracy story that's made up. Japan is sorry that they lost, not for what they have done.
I empathise completely but this is going to be a little off-topic: I've spent over 6 months in Harbin (not consecutively and thankfully not in the winter) and I LOVE THAT PLACE SO MUCH! The people are so sweet and kind and the city overall is a wonderful place to be. That's all.
The people didnt do anything wrong, but its a matter of principle that the government says sorry. When the government wont admit to doing something wrong, even when it happened 73 years ago and they are clearly not responsible, that says something about your government. I wasnt raised in Japan so I cant speak for what they learn, but when a government has a hard time admitting its done something wrong, I cant assume that reflects well on their education. What if we down played how we treated Native Americans? No one today had anything to do with the Trail of Tears, but that doesnt mean it didnt happen and we can just forget about it. Can you really have faith in a government that tries to brush history under the rug?
-here is CIA report on "comfort women" --- A "comfort girl" is nothing more than a prostitute or "professional camp follower" attached to the Japanese Army for the benefit of the soldiers. UNITED STATES OFFICE OF WAR INFORMATION Psychological Warfare Team Attached to U.S. Army Forces India-Burma Theater APO 689 Japanese Prisoner of War Interrogation Report No. 49. Place interrogated: Ledo Stockade Date Interrogated: Aug. 20 - Sept. 10, 1944 Date of Report: October 1, 1944 By: T/3 Alex Yorichi Prisoners: 20 Korean Comfort Girls Date of Capture: August 10, 1944 Date of Arrival: August 15, 1944 at Stockade PREFACE This report is based on the information obtained from the interrogation of twenty Korean "comfort girls" and two Japanese civilians captured around the tenth of August, 1944 in the mopping up operations after the fall of Myitkyin a in Burma. The report shows how the Japanese recruited these Korean "comfort girls", the conditions under which they lived and worked, their relations with and reaction to the Japanese soldier, and their understanding of the military situation. A "comfort girl" is nothing more than a prostitute or "professional camp follower" attached to the Japanese Army for the benefit of the soldiers. The word "comfort girl" is peculiar to the Japanese. Other reports show the "comfort girls" have been found wherever it was necessary for the Japanese Army to fight. This report however deals only with the Korean "comfort girls" recruited by the Japanese and attached to their Army in Burma. The Japanese are reported to have shipped some 703 of these girls to Burma in 1942.
@ Rory, What are you talking about? Considering that Britain owned Hong Kong for a long time I think that would be fugging awesome. A smooth, gorgeous, Chinese man as Bond? Oo! *swoon* I will take that after Elba!
That... Doesn't fix anything, if anything that would be evidence for the theory that this is just to remove the "whiteness." Your proposal would make things worse.
YOOOO SAME i got home early and i was Super bored and then BAM i got the notification and i was like "its not 6 yet is it" (im EST so its 6 when it usually comes out)
idk why people get mad when TH-camrs take a break because they dont have conventional jobs. Even normal 9-5 jobs get days off, and yet people expect youtubers to make content every single day and work holidays and weekends. Yes they get to be home but its still a JOB. I hope more TH-camrs take breaks or get help with their videos!
Thats not true, though. There are many youtubers who spend well over 40 hours a week on their content. Phil has a whole team! Even people like Jake Paul are constantly, obsessively, thinking about their youtube "brand" and shit. Most 9to5ers mentally clock out from their jobs at 5 oclock. For some youtubers, its all the time.
Blazing Nipples Not even a comparison bro.... You are comparing the day schedules of a stay at home boss vs a low level worker. Most of that 40 hrs is perhaps conversion times from uploading the video. Manual labour vs brainstorming a script.... Not comparable
@Doninant Persona Have you ever edited any videos in your life? Research deeply a topic so that you get your facts right? Right content to engage viewer? If you are doing all of this on your own then you would known that right there is a job
I used to get such a rush when I posted and got 80 views a day. I was so hooked I posted every day for almost 8 months while still working full time. Never thought I would get burned out. Yup. It happens. Even after I went full time TH-cam. Still enjoy what I do. Just one of those too much of a good thing is a bad thing.
urmaker AHHH urmaker, I love your videos!! I’m a long time subscriber and always appreciate and enjoy all the content you put out, regardless of how often or consistent
I would love to see elba as like 009 or 008 or something and see a cross over with Daniel Craig. That would be badass. Not a complete remake. Again. Usually there is more space between bond remakes.
+Scorch428 Elba wouldn't be pretending to be Asian like Johanssen and Stone were. He'd be playing an explicitly black iteration of a classic character. No one's going to try to make Idris Elba into a white man.
I think TH-camrs should look to Rhett and Link for a good way of pacing yourself out. They do their show 5 days a week. Over the summer, they move to 3 days a week, including guest hosts on Fridays. They consistently take a couple week breaks during the holidays/summer time (they'll be back next Monday!). They still put out great content, but take care of themselves and their crew with breaks.
yea... i don't think a non-medical professional would disagree with that either... Unless they're some hardcore spiritual medicine only type of people.
Is the first seizure more deadly? Or is every seizure an absolute medical emergency? I just like learning which is why I ask this. I have no experience with seizures and would like to know 😌
Erica Patterson there's so many causes for seizures, some that could be deadly (like that poor young man's was). Since you don't know what's causing it, you need to find out right away. In his case, he could've been cooled down quickly and safely. It could've saved his life. Instead, the team's leadership essentially let his brain and organs cook themselves to death.... Since you're interested, if someone has a known seizure disorder, the general rule (not always though), is to call 911 if the seizure is over five minutes long or doesn't respond to emergency medications that some people have to carry around. But if you ever saw a stranger have a seizure, since you don't know their history, you should call 911. Try not to move them too much, unless you need to for safety (like if they're in the middle of a busy road). Keep them on their side, most importantly, keep their airway (mouth, throat, chest) to the side, while you wait for EMS. And don't put anything, including your fingers, in their mouths. 😁 Edit: also don't try to hold their body or limbs down. Just move everything around them and let them seize while gently maintaining them on their side.
Patti LaBelle loved Aretha, she said so many times. Even recently she called her the greatest singer of all time, and after Aretha died, Patti called her "my sister in song" on Twitter. I can't understand why some people always try to create these "feuds". These women are legends.
I love how transparent you're Phil. I love that you remind us you're human and share your faults with us. The new side of the world needs more guys like you dude!
Agreed, and no apology from the coach to the family of the player makes the whole thing worse. There is a certain level of machismo that goes on in the locker room of a university football program, so pushing each other to the limit is definitely something that occurs on a daily basis, but the coaching staff needs to be more aware of every player's health and safety. If after the first couple of minutes when the player goes down and does not get better but only gets worse, then perhaps it is time for him to call it a day. Neglecting him for an hour is just very irresponsible.
they treat you about the same in high school potentially too, idk how more isn't said about it. i got heat stroke at a school thing (13yrs ago now lol) and got smack talked by my choreographer. for being hot, for sitting in the shade, for drinking water. "no one else gets to do any of that right now" well they're not ready to drop and i am hurr durr what a concept. told me i'd never finish the season. i did, and then i quit. as much blood sweat and tears kids put into their activities, to treat em like pussy snowflake fakers over heat stroke/dislocations/pulls/tears/whatever injuries is r-i-d-i-c-u-l-o-u-s to me. the pros don't even walk that shit off. and as much as i bust ass at work, and the heat i've been in and HAVEN'T gotten heat stroke, they had us out at the worst times of day and made us go like 3hrs without a drop of water. normal people don't even do that, you generally have that water attached or very close while working out but KIDS are supposed to just keep going. you stop and you're bad, weak, underperforming. pfffft that got long. sorry world

Kerry L Intresting. I didn't write this comment so ppl could debate whether the acts of the Japanese were right or wrong. I wrote it to bring attention to the subject. Realistically, how many ppl do you think know what the japanese did. It's never really taught in history classes in the USA. It's a chance for them learn bc the "comfort women" are only the tip of the iceberg.
Some seizures can be so mild that missing one is understandable, but being so blinded by the pursuit of perfection in these kids that heatstroke is overlooked like that is disgusting. I hope all three of those coaches and anyone else with authority who was complicit is punished to the fullest extent of the law. RIP Jordan McNair.
10:14 in response to this British Conservative woman; Why can’t a modern black man be born upper class, arrogant and well connected. ? Even with the trivial specifics of a Swiss family fortune in the background of the character’s childhood, it’s not disqualifying for any modern black man... besides the statistical likelihood of a black man having a Swiss family fortune is utterly irrelevant to my enjoyment of the character, and also everything about Bond is uniquely unlikely for almost anyone. So maybe your “precious imagination” will just have to expand a little, because a lot of us other people you share this world with aren’t so imaginatively restricted as you. And idk why she’s directing her condescending speach at Idris Elba. It’s the rest of us fans who want to see a new James Bond played by him. Not because he’s black. Because he’d be an awesome new Bond. I mean, it’s nothing crazy like casting a Black Ku Klux Klansman...
Anthony PC She did also say “white”, I don’t think she was saying there are no upper class, arrogant, well-connected black men; rather that isn’t who James Bond is
Anthony PC I wouldn’t call her a conservative she is a complete moron despised by everyone. And she is kinda right bond is all of those things she stated and I don’t see anywhere that someone can’t act like a upper class twat lol. He is a great actor don’t see why he can’t be bond he might be a bit old Daniel Craig said shooting these films takes a toll on the body due to the stunts so it’s usually a younger guy.
Remember when Craig was casted? People were losing their shit, couse Bond is a white skin black hair British with a seemingly run of the mill figure. A blonde buff is not Bond. Make no mistake, Craig did a passable job as an agent, but the Bond films lacked that cocky British bastard flavor. Point is, if you want a black British agent, make a new franchise. It can explore either the tough road to the top, or the guy being born into money, and always facing the same "poor black kid managed to climb the ladder" attitude. The blatant arrogance of 007 is unreasonable for someone not being born into a 10+ generations rich blueblood family.
They are the ones making the movie not you. We don't need another fucking ghostbusters shitshow where it's ruled by sjw's and goes completely downhill and misses the mark of why ghostbusters was a classic and instead shits on it's legacy. They can't think of a good enough storyline for a black james bond, so don't force them with sjw politics. Plus it's their movie their license and what they have done up till now has been pretty solid. So take it or leave it, don't complain like a spoiled brat you aren't entitled to a black james bond. Do we really want another obama on our hands? Everyone wanted to see a black president so bad that the us had to suffer just for it. When they are ready or willing they will, but nothing good ever comes from forcing it, you should have realize that by now. Also why don't you make a spin off of james bond then if you want him to be black so bad. That's like me coming in and saying change your views and opinion because they don't agree with mine, or me forcing you to change your story in some way. I don't think people should fuck with other peoples creativity as it has always ended in disaster. The whole logic behind a black james bond to be justified requires some mental gymnastic of an absurd degree it's not healthy just stop...
Balog Dániel why do people like you have so much passion when trying to keep something whitewashed? It always gives me underlying racist vibes. Especially how you said that a black James bond story would be with a poor man climbing the ladder!? He can be black and still have Swiss ancestry. He can be black and upperclass. There is absolutely no reason why James bond can't be black and people who try to keep it a whites only role sound like they're the KKK trying to keep shit pure and I'm absolutely not about it.
From my experience, most coaches (basketball and football mainly) are bullies. They usually have no athleticism of their own yet they terrorize the kids on the team to be more athletic.
J A C E I agree with this 100%. While I think I am a better person for having gone through football in HS as it prepared me for things later on in life some of my coaches were way out of line. One coach in particular was making fun of my legitimate injury that had me out for three weeks (hip fracture) all because he thought I was faking it. But I'm not surprised that it is still a "Get up and finish you pussy" environment even today. I just hope it is stories like this bring this issue to light and bring significant changes not only to this University but other Universities and any schools with an athletic department.
Thank you for saying what you did about loving your job but it's still work. It really hit home for me. As a teacher, I love my job but it is still a ton of work and stress.
Why not just have Mr. Alba play as another 00 agent? Have him be just as badass as 007 with his own unique traits and then we can finally have a new agent we can root for. Soon enough, we can have even more 00 agents and possibly have them together in an Avengers-style action flick. Seems like a win-win for everyone.
I like the idea of another agent that could be a competitor/ally/stand-alone character for Bond. They could spar with witty reparte, one could be set up to look a double agent and they could mistrust each other, battle, then figure it out and work together...so many possibilities...!
what if he was the 007 before james bond, like jimmy band or something and became a villain because of a mission gone wrong. maybe they make whole movie with him as the protagonist and reveal at the last second that he's evil kinda like in assassins creed 3
We should let Elba be 007. Why doesn't the world want to forget as quickly as possible a time when a black man wasn't allowed to be an upper class educated gentleman?
I managed to burn out, hard, from giving 200% to my studies in university. I put the deadlines before my health and eventually collapsed to the point of needing to cut back on the regular course load and take a summer on doctor's orders to enjoy myself instead of working. It's hard not to constantly feel deficient, even though I'm published as an undergrad and I've made some high profile achievements in my program, because I can't keep that up. It takes a lot of understanding that you are not taught in (and which may even be countered by) basic education through highschool. We're having a mental health crisis nobody is talking about, and I would be willing to bet it's either caused or made worse by people thinking they need to be perfect because it's constantly implied by our imperfect society.
We're too hard on our men. Too few people take their suffering seriously. It's actually pretty abhorrent. Try this, look up local abuse shelters in your area and try to count how many accept men who are in crisis. I'll save you the trouble: ZERO. Ever wonder why so many of our homeless are men? Think about it...
Men get arrested when they call the cops on their abusive gf's/wives as well. And 50% of abusive relationships are co-abusive with one-sided abuse being 56% women and 44% men. But you won't see that get brought up in most domestic abuse discussions.
Joseph Cote feminist theory actually discuss this, society doesn't expect man to be abused or raped and in movies is even used as a joke sometimes, a patriarchal society can have unrealist expetations of man nagatively affecting them.
I love how some feminists talk about the patriarchy as if it's all men meeting at the local moose lodge every Thursday at 8 to discuss how they'll oppress women over a bud light.
Chris Bama not by law but by culture, beliefs etc. Its not nearly as bad as middle eastern cuntries, but its good to acknowledge when it happens so we can try to solve those issues like what joseph said. www.thefreedictionary.com/Patriarchal+society
Being that I live in MD, it is ridiculous to see how coaches are treating athletes. Especially when some of these athletes aren’t on full ride scholarships and truly love the sport. Pushing people past their limits in extreme weather like this summer is very saddening. Sports are mean’t to be fun not to torture people
Well the point is to go past your limits when training. You will be fighting exhaustion while playing in the sport. But these have to be done in controlled environments and with water. The point is to be conditioned for the sport. To be able to go further without slowing down as much or to just go further depending on the sport.
So glad you covered the burnout thing ! I'm finding it tough to be creative at the moment every single day and this really spoke to me - because a lot of TH-camrs work on their own it's hard to know how other TH-camrs find the creative process, so it's comforting to know I'm not alone !!
NPT Music Here's the thing. You do what you love to do, that affords you a quality of life and time that most others don't have. Continue to do this, at a healthy pace, and don't burn yourself out. Simple, no? I'm saying this because if someone can make a living off of TH-cam they have the ability to choose how much work they wanna put in. You don't like to be tired? You don't have to be lol
Phil, this is the first video that I’ve ever gotten a notification on my phone for, without having notifications for this channel on. Loved seeing “New from Philip DeFranco” pop up on my screen.
Agree, toxic environment and people in charge of the situation are to blame! Negligence to the extreme. Everyone there let him down sadly and his family has to live with that. :( I don't know if I could keep my shit together if it was someone I knew so that's why I feels so bad for his family and friends!
Mr. Nobody *extended period of time* So yes, it's preventable from even getting up to that high body temperature. The medical staff should've been out there and stepped in before he even reach the point of collapsing.
Thank you so much, Phil for bringing up the comfort women problem. As someone who's great grandma has gone through that the more spotlight put on to this issue the better. Many people on the western side don't know about this and it would be sad if this suffering was just forgotten. I remember for those who can't anymore.
Sydney Hensley thats a stupid point of comparison. If jame bond is then black, the story wont be disturbed whatsoever, but in black panther, the whole point of wakanda is that it is a part of africa untouched by colonialism so thus, there would be no native born white people there. It would destroy the whole plotpoint if zack effron played the black panther
The argument being made here by liberals is that it's okay to invalidate the cultural heritage of a character if they were originally white by writing it off as "unimportant to the story line" Nevermind the fact that movies like gridiron gang were about a white coach who becomes black for the movie with no explanation whatsoever.
Tyler Freeman that still confuses me.... why does it matter? As long as the story and the characters are written well and are entertaining like almost EVERY bond movie is it shouldn’t matter hair or skin colour. Storytelling should be all that matters.
On the EpiPen topic. Thank God!! I am severely allergic to yellow jackets and "have" to carry a pen everywhere. That said due to prices I havent had an EpiPen for years. I just run from yellow jackets like they are grizzly bears!! Lmao
+Tyclone I'm outside all the time and I have't been stung a single time since they taught us in school not to swat away bees. Walk away or let them walk around your arm and they'll be gone within 20 seconds. How often do you get stung?
Don't know how many people remember when Daniel Craig was cast as bond. Everyone freaked out about the "Blonde Bond" and how crazy the producers and director must be to do such a thing. Turns out Daniel Craig was is my opinion one of the best bonds. I feel the same about Idris. Bond needs to be British and suave and that's it. If you don't think Idris Elba can be suave than you haven't seen enough of his acting ability.
juju miner why wouldn’t they just write a new role but keep the oo7 code name. Figure out a way to replace James and replace him. It would make more sense then just switching his race.
As long as they only make the changes to better keep with the character's iconic points it usually turns out great. On the other hand I really don't know what they were thinking with this last one.
As a former college athlete I can tell you coaching environment for universities can be so toxic. After I stopped playing, I actually started to feel somewhat better about myself mentally. However that’s just female perspective. I know so many men who play at all levels of college athletics and the culture it’s horrible. Men being humiliated and spoken to like they are idiots and children. It crazy. I’m all for tough coaching but the way some of the men’s coaches spoke to their players (from what my friends told me) is kinda shocking and the fact that they get away with is even more mind boggling.
Al'Anna Sikes Agreed. I'm for coaches that push their players to complete a task but not to the extent of some of these coaches who name call and belittle their athletes. It would be similar to someone hiring a personal trainer who instead of giving you motivation to get better just constantly yelled at you "Lift the weight you pussy!" or "You're not hurt! Finish your cardio fatass!" I decided not to participate in college sports after I graduated high school but I went from 7th grade through my senior year playing football. While I feel like their abuse prepared me later in life for overbearing bosses in the work place or encountering rude people in everyday life this toxic environment needs to change.
Burnout story - Just in time for me! I experienced it once (I went out of business with debt because of it) and after long recovery I recently started slipping back into it. Good to know we are not alone.
TH-cam burnout is a very real thing. It’s an interesting culture that’s been created, especially with these high energy personalities that are often conveyed. I think many people have forgotten why TH-cam was fun in the beginning. Obviously that changes when someone needs to earn a living from it, but health and sustainability should come first.
If it's hardwired into the character that someone is a certain race, then I don't think it should be changed. It's an integral aspect of their development as a character. That said, I've never really felt like Bond required anything but his upperclass british background to make him who he is. Now, I don't know many upperclass british black people, but I also don't know much about British society in general. I don't live there, I haven't studied it, and I've never visited. Plus, Idris Elba is such a cool dude. The man would definitely make a killer Bond. I dunno. It doesn't bother me.
You just said it, "great actor". Why can't people look past the hue of someone's skin and enjoy art as it was intended? These people are ACTORS, nothing is authentic about playing someone other than yourself.
Portishead Biscuit “art as it was intended”. If somebody else painted over a popular painting, then it wouldn’t be “as intended”. You can’t build up a character for so long and all of a sudden have him changed for nothing more than personal reasons. I think, as a better route, ending James Bond and creating a protege (Idris Elbas character). Not only would it be an emotional movie for those Bond fans, but it opens a new door for another amazing agent to follow and create a new fan base around. It’s not about the people in it, it’s about the art.
Exactly. He could still be 007. James Bond could retire or be killed in action and Idris Elba takes over with his own story. They've been doing similar things for years with superhero characters.
Geezum The Great yes exactly why Hollywood only wants white or black actors if they want ethnic minority actor there are other people too,I don't want James bond to change but if you want someone from different ethnicity other than black and white!
I found that particular tweet about Zac Efron playing Black Panther funny. Sure Zac Efron can play Black Panther. He, however, can't play T'Challa. Mantle of Superheroes keep shifting from character to character. Steve Rogers was Captain America. When he retired, Sam Wilson, A black character, took over as Captain America. And I read a theory somewhere that James Bond or 007 isn't a person. It's a position within MI6 reserved for their best agent. This time it's a black agent. Just enjoy the damn movie regardless of who's playing it.
then you should read the bond books.. james bond was and is his birth name... his father was andrew bond and his mother monique bond.... only 007 is an alias ... so maybe you should either read your theories properly or read the actual books instead, to see that the theory about his name does not make any sense... we don't need to theorize about his name, because the author told us where his name comes from and who his parents are.. and they were NOT black so yeah zac afron can play black panther, but he can't play T'Challa... idris elba can play 007 an MI6' agent, but he can't play james bond, because james bond is not black, just like t'challa is not white.... but if elba can play james bond then efron can play t'challa without anyone of you bitching about white washing... can't wait to see that...
I would only watch this Black Panther IF, Efron did play T'Challa, BUT the rest of the cast didn't change, and no one ever mentioned him being a white American. Tell me your eye wouldn't twitch throughout the entire film as you constantly whispered "What the fuck?"
+mr_graphical lmao james bond is based on the books by ian fleming and he makes it very clear that james bond is not an alias, but yeah keep grasping for straws, because the source material clearly states that his name is not an alias
I could not care less what race James Bond is. I am, however, still upset about him now drinking Heineken in lieu of his traditional martinis (which must be shaken, not stirred). That is all.
Glory Hulle I’ve been waiting years for him to be bond once I heard Daniel Craig was going to stop. Honestly, there’s no other big name, badass UK actor out there that fits the role. 🤷🏻♂️
My only problem is not with him being black it's with the fact that I'm tired of all the hate whenever a white actor takes a roll that could be played by someone else. We supposedly white wash everything but hey when a long time white roll gets played by someone else it's a good thing? Sorry but Annie was white and so is Bond. You can't have it both ways either any actor can act anything and it's only about the skill of the actor, or race and gender matter more than skill.
Why James Bond tho? Why can't they make a new character for Idris Elba to play, 006, 008, whatever. It will still be in the James Bond universe, people would still want to see it
As a student at University of Maryland I want to thank you Phil for talking about Jordan. I was really upset when I heard the news of his death TWO months after it occurred. My school could’ve done way better when it came to letting students know of what happened to Jordan.
Please talk about India, Kerala Monsoon flood. 100s of people are dying and 100000s of people are left without home. It's not getting enough voice, people need to hear it and what they can do to help them. Please, share and talk about it. It is described as one of the worst over a century,
Thank you currently in Trivandrum and I'm helping with the rescue efforts. I'm going to one of the collection center's tomorrow to give some materials.
Honestly I think characters should be as they are written. If someone is white in written material, make them white on screen. If they're written as a Japanese person, make them Japanese on screen.
Lee Almonte, there are plenty of non-white ones, and even if that were so - that isn't something that can't be rectified... You know, with writing more non-white ones. Also, keep in mind % compared to the population of X country, because sometimes it can be inflated more than you realize. Where in many cases, where 'needs more diversity', it is actually around the same amount of percent of screen time to actual lower demographics in the nation on average. In any case, we don't need to change characters, we can make new ones, good ones too.
This video gave me a comforting feeling of Defranco being around in media for my generation for a long time. I am really okay with that. In my eyes there couldn't be a better person to represent our ideas for the future.
It's not a theory. The author in his books literally says the code name is 007. People who don't give a shit about paying attention to the movies or are unaware of the books believe that James Bond is the code name. The film industry has bamboozled bond fans with their inability to keep the same actor playing the same character for so long.
Someone who knows the history behind Bond and British Intelligence could tell you the origin of the Codename 007. Under the reign of Queen Elizabeth I she had a renown advisor Named John Dee. Dee was a renown researcher, mystic, and mathematician. He was so famous he would tour the courts of Kings and Queens across Europe. Dee would covertly write, letters to Queen Elizabeth detailing information he gathered while in these foreign Kingdoms. Rather than signing his name incase the letter was intercepted and deciphered he signed OO7 at the bottom of the letter. The history tells you flat out that 007 is a code name. With John Dee being the first 007.
I don't think enough is being said about the Comfort Women story... It may seem like South Korea is being unreasonable by not acknowledging Japan's attempts at restitution as sincere, but keep in mind: These were tens of *thousands* of women (the official number isn't even known; it could be anywhere from 20,000 to 410,000) who were raped repeatedly while their country was being invaded. Oftentimes, these women were raped and forcefully injected with abortive drugs, over and over again, to the point of *sterility.* As Phil stated, around 3 in every 4 died. Keep in mind that THIS WASN'T EVEN THAT LONG AGO. A handful are still around today. Between the 40's and the Kono Statement in 1993, Japan kept on lying and suppressing the truth of their actions. So many of these women died without justice, without an apology; without even an *acknowledgement* of guilt from their abusers. So yeah, for Japan to come back in 1993 just to admit that maybe there was the possibility of coercion... It was a slap in the face. Especially when - between 1993 and 2014 - they contradicted themselves more than once, expressed doubt that there was any evidence these women were actually taken by force (despite acknowledging this to be the case in 1993), and even once flirting with the idea of taking BACK their apology... Restitution or not (for the scant number of survivors that were even left by the time Japan got around to it), I fully understand why South Korea is having trouble forgiving Japan for committing such atrocities. Especially when they have the gall to tell the people mourning Comfort Women that they shouldn't...
I had my phone connected to my loud ass speakers in my Christians grandparents household, I mis clicked on this video, and all the whole house heard was “what’s up ya beautiful bastards” and all you heard from everybody was a loud “HUH!” and now I want to die.
Alex Turner me too, like every bond has looked pretty different, i was just convinced it was a codename that could be given to any agent. it would be interesting to see a new agent take on the 007 codename.
I really like a large part of the Japanese culture and just Japan itself, in fact I'm going to study there for a semester soon. But, having covered a lot of Japanese history and having read a lot of about the 1600s invasion of Korea (the Imjin War), as well as everything that happened from the First Sino-Japanese War up until their surrender to the US in 1945, I find it incredibly disturbing that the Japanese government has never taken it upon themselves to properly deal with their own war criminals nor fully apologised for their crimes against China, Korea, and all the other Asian nations they have invaded and wreaked havoc across. If we look to a country like Germany, who similarly have a very dark past, they have tried their hardest to own up to the mistakes of their predecessors and were the ones most adamant about punishing their own war criminals, as a show to the world that they would never again commit such atrocities. Meanwhile, many members of the Japanese government, as well as prime ministers, have visited Yasakuni Shrine, which is infamous for having known war criminals enshrined there, and yet these government officials still go there despite knowing it greatly offends the many Asian nations they've previously invaded. I find it very disheartening that the Japanese government has acted this way for over 70 years, because I don't believe they are representing the will of their people.
Saturn666: I think that it has do with their cultural isolationism. They don’t care what the rest of the world thinks of them, so long as we buy their goods.
Saturn666 As much as I love Japanese culture myself, I have to agree with you. They have employed a great deal of horrible tactics and practices over a great period of time, but have showed little remorse for the acts of their ancestors. I do think part of it is pride. Japan has a very proud, traditional culture...but I don’t consider that an excuse. There should be things that you shouldn’t be proud of. Much like how I am not proud of the U.S. having slavery until the late 1800s and an oppressive mob taking lives and commuting acts of violence well into the 1960s (alluding to the KKK), there should be times where you need humility and remorse. Honestly, I can’t speak for the Japanese people. I’m not sure how they feel about all this, but I certainly hope their government is misrepresenting the will of the people. It is very possible as I don’t consider our leaders here in the U.S. a very accurate representation of the will of the people.
Paul Bartel, I don't think you can call them a country of cultural isolation. Maybe during the Edo period, but look at how their culture is now inspired by other Asian countries and the West. I don't believe the majority of Japanese people support their atrocities nor deny them.
I heard they have an ultra-national faction with influence, pushing for revisionist text-books. It's sad, 'cos China won't be fun for any of you over there.
I find it interesting you compare Germany and Japan. Japan has retained its culture, its people, and its borders. Germany has not. I'd say Japan's strategy is working out for them. Also who are you to say what the will of the Japanese people is?
I’m very happy TH-camrs are talking about burnout. People tend to be harsh on TH-camrs when they take breaks and such and this will help start the conversation about why those breaks are necessary. And future TH-camrs can benefit from this too. if you’re putting out content for others, make sure you’re taking care of yourself too.
Being a former college athlete I can agree that the anxiety and pressure that I felt throughout my years of college, which are suppose to be the best years of your life, became unbearably overwhelming. I think this story a big wake up call to universities that college athletes are not just players you can make money off they’re people and are there to get an education and to feel safe and part of a team that cares about them. The Maryland story makes me so ill and I hope the ncaa and coaches in every sport learn a big lesson from it
Japan can only play the victim card of the nuclear bombs for so long. Pacific Islanders have demanded more awareness of the atrocities committed by the IJA. Listen, it's one thing to forgive, but one should never forget. That's all these women are doing. Honoring the memories of comfort women.
WarlordRising honestly, does Japan still play the victim card from the atomic bombs? From what I’ve seen, very few Japanese people seem vindictive about the bombs. I’m not being sarcastic, I’m honestly asking if it happens often
Japan commited a lot of war crimes that they have not apologized for not to mention they have a shrine made to honor war criminals the same severity as hitler. If germany had a hitler shrine the world would go mad
I feel like burnout is the close equivalent to writers block. Every creative person in a job that needs creativity goes through it. Your brain cannot handle so much in such a small amount of time. Thanks Phil for covering this. :)
+misha I remember someone involved in the James Bond franchise (high level) being asked by a reporter after the first election of Barack Obama whether there could be a black James Bond one day. The "James Bond person" said yes. When asked by the same reporterr if James Bond could be gay, the answer was a clear no. The reason given was about what the same as what you said in your comment. I once heard that James Bond drinks A LOT in the films, so I guess he couldn't be played by an actor who's only willing to play characters who hardly ever drink.
I Quote Randomly From Books I don't always agree with having actors of different races play the same character, but in this situation it's fine, because Bond isn't defined by his race or what he looks like, and has also been played by many different actors. And if this upsets you that much then I hate to say this but......you might be an r word. Take that however you want to.
I have experienced burnout myself; unfortunately, I did not take a break and kept going. The result is that I abruptly hit my snapping point and very suddenly stopped the activity that I had been the lead of for almost 10 years. The people involved were left hanging and struggled to keep going. That was 4 years ago and I still cringe at the thought of going back; I can't do it. My advice to those that start to feel burned out: step back and take a break! Don't do what I did!
Personally i prefer when things stick to the source material and i much prefer the idea that Idris Elba could play another agent maybe 008 perhaps something like that.
Exactly. Maybe even let him operate somewhere he would fit in somehow as an Agent. He could be a very cool agent for the MI6 and it would make sense, that there are agents from different ethnicities and cultural backgrounds simply to have more possible missions.
I don't really care about the race of the actor who plays James Bond, just as I don't mind what gender or race plays the Doctor on Doctor Who. The only thing I care about is if they are right for the part. I disagree that someone should be cast specifically for their race or gender, but instead for their talent and ability to properly portray the role and carry out the director's vision.
ppl die or don't want to pay the role anymore, he's always been a white brit. It's like if the guy playing black panther either died or reprises the role do you then expect for actors of any race to be fair game for casting? or is it a double standard?
Jeremy furdyk-smith because you don't get to tell others what to comment about. Did you comment about the dead kid? Good for you, you're so virtuous! GFY!
The biggest problem with Japan is that they are not owning up to the whole thing. They are not admitting, "Yes, we did this. It has horrible, we will never let anyone forget so that we will never do it again." Just look at Germany. Everyone in Germany knows of the Holocaust. They all talk about it openly, and condemn it with a passion. I understand that the culture is a bit different, but to me, it is a matter of honour (which I know the Japanese hold dear). In the words of one of my favorite characters, "It is always best to admit your mistakes... and seek to restore honor."
That's because Germany was fucked sideways from both the Soviets and Allies while Japan was just occupied and rebuilt fast to be the best friend of the US lol.
I love what you said about You Tube burnout and entrepreneur burnout. It’s all very true, as a business owner and consultant to many small businesses (3 of which are TH-cam creators) burnout is very real. I’ve seen burnout hurt and at times destroying the integrity of a business. Thanks for covering this topic! Your view comes across authentic and real.
I would love to see a Bond film where they go into the idea of James Bond as a code name. Starring Daniel Craig and Idris Ebla, it can portrait Bond as a legacy title, making all the Bond actors cannon.
That is really not a good idea, they already have code names, James Bond is literally a guy, imagine if you were accepted as a fire fighter but they called you a Richard Balls because he was a good fire fighter.
The thing is, if you watch Skyfall, you can see James Bond’s parents’ gravestones. They also have the name Bond. The code name isn’t James Bond, it’s 007. Personally I don’t care if a black man plays Bond as long as they work well in the role.
Wow! The information. On the coaching staff is new to me. I was already upset that the player was basically killed, and to hear that it goes beyond that is dumbfounding.
The simplest way I can say this is: "I don't want Idris Elba to play James Bond because I want a black James Bond, I want Idris Elba to play James Bond, because I think IDRIS ELBA, is an awesome actor who would be really cool in the role.
3ndeavor because I don’t really see James Bond as a white character and just want cool actors to fill the role and I think Idris Elba would be good in it. If someone instead just wants to make a cool spy movie with a brand new character and cast Idris Elba, cool. I just want Idris to be in cool roles because I like Idris Elba
I dig. But I ask that you consider: Many long time fans of James Bond movies and books do see James Bond as a white character. He's silver spoon British, after all, and in the 1920s when he was supposedly born there were likely very few affluent Black families who could produce a future black James bond. Anyhow, that's all definitely up to the imagination; art is in the eye of the beholder. In some parodied universe of our world, James Bond circumstances may lead to him being middle eastern or Samoan or something,.
3ndeavor I dont care what other fans see though... fuck them. Also, if he was born in the 20s, he should be played by a fucking corpse if you really want accuracy.
I teach high school, and I frequently tell my students to ignore crap inspirational quotes like that "find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life." I get told I'm a jaded pessimist, but I'm so glad you just said what you did. I work at an amazing school and I love my job, but it's still hard work!
Directors should have the freedom to do whatever the hell they want, do they make stupid choices sometimes? Yes. But it’s art, there’s no right or wrong
and directors, even tho many times theres a source material, should put their creative work into what they were hired to do, so theres always gonna be somewhat different so who really cares, as long as the base stuff is there, it doesnt have to be the exact same thing
I was thinking she was the one that opened the floodgates. I don't know if there's youtubers that posted videos before her but she was the most popular one I saw first.
well sometimes it's a thin line between deliver decent work but have a chilled life and cutting of your own ear to paint that masterpiece of your life...
Much respect. Great to see an established TH-camr -someone who has the ear of the public, consistently using their vids to not only share pertinent and morally relevant news, but even further yet trying to support those who are struggling. As a fellow Italian: I'm proud of how you try to help the people around you, with you channel. After all, what are we, but dogs, if we aren't trying to lift our fellow man up when he's down and out?
TH-cam Burnout is real. Thank you Phil for sharing. 😀 I think having a journal, meditating, walking, sleeping 8-10h/day, eating well, having a social life, taking a vacation and talking to a Therapist is helpful if necessary. #LoveFromCANADA 💕
Recently i feel burnout from overworking myself and not giving myself enough sleep or other activities than working. Because in my mind taking break is another hour wasted that could be used for work.
Hi Jessica jessica! 😍😘 Thank you for sharing your story. Your self care is very important. You can't serve other people until you can take care of yourself. Please listen to your body. Try the Head Space App to help you release any stress. Do not feel bad about yourself when you SAY NO to others. Protect your inner peace and make your happiness priority. Remember to breath and PAUSE. All the best Jessica. Hugs! Xo #LoveFromCANADA 💕🇨🇦
I didn't expect myself to cry when I heard about the story of people protesting against Japan, even though I was born in canada it still gets pretty emotional hearing these stories , it reminds me of times where i asked my parents about the history of ww2 and how personal the stories got to them from people they knew to people from the same city and even themselves
I persoanlly don't care if bond is played by a black person but the outrage is because some people actually care about the lore of stories and james bond turning black all of a sudden doesn't fit the story written. Why do progressives and the left have to remake all the classic movies with new genders and races as the character? Just write in a NEW character! Are they that bad at writing that they can't come up with new ideas?
+PC Wouldn't moving to a less expensive part of the country alleviate the stress of not having to pay much higher rent and salaries. I understand why Phil needed to be in California 2007-2011 with the whole gang making collab videos with Lisa Nova, Dave Days, Kassem G, Shay Carl, Ben Donovan, etc but what is the need of staying in LA today for Phil?
D K yeah but sometimes you are where you are. I dont live in a super expensive area like LA but its getting more expensive every year. You say it like its so simple to just pack up everything you own, quit your job, leave your friends and family, and move across the country. Honestly if you can do all that with no sweat then you are doing pretty good in life.
ThePhilosopher often times, people don't think the job of a TH-cam vlogger as even a job at all, hence people not taking it seriously when TH-camrs admit to feeling so much pressure and ultimately burn out. Addressing it shows people that vlogging is just as stressful as a 9-5, sometimes more so. It's hard not to take your work home with you when documenting your life IS your work. I hope that gives some clarity.
pajamagirl123 I never took away the idea that they're not working. I'm aware they're busy doing what they do for more than 8hrs a day, but there is luxury to the quality of time they have. "TH-camr Burnout" is basically them saying "I want a break that I can't have because I'll lose this opportunity I have, so hopefully you can understand and forgive me for not doing it for a while." It really is just that, and again, if I said that about my job ppl would laugh.
Hope you enjoy the extra long show! See ya back here on Monday, ya Beautiful Bastards.
and super early too!
Lol I was looking for the early part of the show and there it is!
The only thing that 007 has to be is 'from the UK'
Same
TH-camr burn out? You mean like what happened to William Osman?
seeing my face on my subscription page tripped me the hell out LOL
but thanks so much for the very kind words phil and for covering this topic!

You are awesome and deserved it!

You are seen, heard, loved, and supported! We are never as alone as we may feel. ✊🏼💖
I love u
You look familiar. Were you the one freaking out about trump becoming president?
I coach for a living, and have dealt with injuries on the field. Every injury is serious and the way these coaches acted at Maryland makes my blood boil. The staff should be charged with Negligent homicide we are taught, tested and pay for licenses that literally say we can spot those red flags and protect the athlete IN EVERY SPORT to allow a young adult to die under their care is nothing less than murder.
ARS Goalkeeping I watch your vids since I'm still a new keeper
I agree with you 100% if this kind of negligence happened in any other way that led to the death of someone they'd get charged and so should these coaches
ARS Goalkeeping I would say it was shocking but it was in Maryland. That place is really dangerous. Some people their are just fucking animals. Those coaches should be thrown in jail.
Maryland University murdered McNair in cold blood as far as I’m concerned
I am university of Maryland student and what happened at my college saddens me. These men should be criminal charges for their actions because this is unacceptable.
I don't care about black James bond, but what they should do is make more original stories with black people instead of just inserting black people just to seem diverse.
Same thing with inserting women, like Ghostbusters 2016
Jim L.Stone Boiiii
Jim L.Stone I agree with that
Jim L.Stone and yet they don't... Even black panther is an old character.
His skin color doesn't define him as much as people are pointing it out and that was the problem with the new Ghostbusters where they caricaturized the women and made it political above making a good movie to prove people who were skeptical wrong.
just my 2 cents
amen. hope people watch idris's directorial debut The Yardies
I personally want to see Idris play Bond.
I dont
@@nolleno8393

The extra show should be called PhilMeMore...
Daddy.
ProductiveDiscord i dont know if i should be proud or disappointed
Contra is that you?
How about PhilMeIn
Allison McQueen He says that all the time tho...
Philly Pre show.
PictureFit Well said.
PictureFit That's because they eat bananas, bananas cause burnouts I think
Olivier Hudon What? I thought bananas just made you constipated.
Max Collins 😂 It's a joke because PictureFit made a post about bananas earlier today! Please don't stop eating bananas because of my comment!
Well said and fan of your work 👍
James Bond is not the agent we need more of... OBVIOUSLY We need more Austin Powers
Mainfold image an Austin Powers parody of Daniel Craig Bond...
YEAH BABY, YEAH!
...I miss Mike Myers being in films...
Finally someone said it.
Yes we need more and better comedy
An Austin Powers played by Kevin Hart would be fun.
It's not the University of Tokyo. There were several private medical schools involved, one of which has Tokyo in its name.
At least the president of the university speaks in no uncertain terms that the school is responsible. It took big balls to not deflect blame.
That's all.
Kinda off topic, but going to the Ice Festival in Harbin is on my Bucket List.
-here is CIA report on "comfort women"

Date of Report: October 1, 1944
By: T/3 Alex Yorichi
Prisoners: 20 Korean Comfort Girls
Date of Capture: August 10, 1944
Date of Arrival: August 15, 1944

PREFACE
This report is based on the information obtained from the interrogation of twenty Korean "comfort girls" and two Japanese civilians captured around the tenth of August, 1944 in the mopping up operations after the fall of Myitkyin a in Burma.
Does anyone else just want to see a picture of Phil's closet!?! I want to see how many plaid shirts he has!!
grimsbygirl101 I bet his closet is a plaid shirt.
Like russian nesting dolls of plaid.
Phillip DeFranco is just a plaid shirt that wears the same human everyday
You guys are racist; plaid is Phil's skin color...
grimsbygirl101 I didn't realize how badly I wanted this until I read your comment
just make bond Chinese. Then we won't have to deal with the black/white debate
Alisha's Guide true
I think you mean Asian. It would be odd for a British double agent to be Chinese.
Is it so hard to let him as he is?
@ Rory, What are you talking about? Considering that Britain owned Hong Kong for a long time I think that would be fugging awesome. A smooth, gorgeous, Chinese man as Bond? Oo! *swoon* I will take that after Elba!
That... Doesn't fix anything, if anything that would be evidence for the theory that this is just to remove the "whiteness." Your proposal would make things worse.
I always forget Fridays are earlier than usual!

idk why people get mad when TH-camrs take a break because they dont have conventional jobs. Even normal 9-5 jobs get days off, and yet people expect youtubers to make content every single day and work holidays and weekends. Yes they get to be home but its still a JOB. I hope more TH-camrs take breaks or get help with their videos!
It's the sacrifice they have to make to consistently grow, and also I've heard the algorithm favors consistent uploads.
No comparison between a person who works 9 - 5 and a youtuber... That 9 to 5 person will work more days and hours, period....
Blazing Nipples
Not even a comparison bro....
Hi UrMaker!!! Been a subscriber since the beginning! Thank you for making such great content!
Leeza I appreciate that! Been trying to get motivated again. Hence the stupid stories I make up at the end now. Lolol Hope you have a great day!
As long as you stick to your grind man, no one can put you down. Keep up the good work man.
Subbed friend :) keep spreading that positivity
I would love to see elba as like 009 or 008 or something and see a cross over with Daniel Craig. That would be badass. Not a complete remake. Again. Usually there is more space between bond remakes.
LMAO underrated comment. '009'
Definitely 009 would be good as they do technically exist within universe as they were mentioned by Q in the last movie
But 008 and 009 always die
if you had a problem with Scarlet Joahanson and Emma Stone playing Asians, then you had better have a problem with Elba playing Bond. Be consistent
As a medical professional, a person's first seizure is an absolute emergency. 911 should've been called immediately.
Vegetarians Taste Better I can't think of anyone that would disagree with you regardless of your medical background
Kyle Lilley lol I think it sounds right about correct
yea... i don't think a non-medical professional would disagree with that either...
Edit: also don't try to hold their body or limbs down.
Sergio The One pitting women against each other, especially those in the same industry who are both successful, is extremely common.
Clay Aiken should play Aretha Franklin.
Primordial Fang it is tho
Primordial Fang it’s incredibly common. If you don’t think it is then you haven’t been paying attention.
I love how transparent you're Phil. I love that you remind us you're human and share your faults with us. The new side of the world needs more guys like you dude!
What a completely unnecessary and preventable death for that player.
ew275x This is really tremendous, really...Athletes are humans too, he did not deserve such negligence.
"no one else gets to do any of that right now" well they're not ready to drop and i am hurr durr what a concept. told me i'd never finish the season. i did, and then i quit. as much blood sweat and tears kids put into their activities, to treat em like pussy snowflake fakers over heat stroke/dislocations/pulls/tears/whatever injuries is r-i-d-i-c-u-l-o-u-s to me.
the pros don't even walk that shit off.
and as much as i bust ass at work, and the heat i've been in and HAVEN'T gotten heat stroke, they had us out at the worst times of day and made us go like 3hrs without a drop of water. normal people don't even do that, you generally have that water attached or very close while working out but KIDS are supposed to just keep going. you stop and you're bad, weak, underperforming. pfffft
that got long. sorry world
No one released what happened in that hour. You know there is an answer that CAN'T be good.
Phil literally talks about Japan's horrible war crimes and literally everybody is discussing the topic of James Bond's color. Damn....
There's not much to discuss to the Japan story. What the Japanese did was fucked, I think everyone agrees war crimes are bad.
Second Sino-Japanese war> millions of innocents died
James Bond> thousands triggered

Date of Report: October 1, 1944
By: T/3 Alex Yorichi
Prisoners: 20 Korean Comfort Girls
Date of Capture: August 10, 1944

PREFACE
This report is based on the information obtained from the interrogation of twenty Korean "comfort girls" and two Japanese civilians captured around the tenth of August, 1944 in the mopping up operations after the fall of Myitkyin a in Burma.
RECRUITING;
As a medical professional, it's never ok to miss one seizure, no matter how mild. Especially if the person does not have a history of seizures.
I prevent TH-cam burnout by never finishing any of the goddamn videos I’m working on
200iq
Mate I’m currently finishing one I started doing I’m February xD
I’m not passionate about James Bond, but I do strongly support getting Ice T’s opinion on everything, forever.
Especially since he sang "Cop Killer."
Elba could be the replacement for 006 after well...
JAMES BOND THEME
what if he was the 007 before james bond, like jimmy band or something and became a villain because of a mission gone wrong. maybe they make whole movie with him as the protagonist and reveal at the last second that he's evil kinda like in assassins creed 3
@@Andreamom001 good idea
We should let Elba be 007. Why doesn't the world want to forget as quickly as possible a time when a black man wasn't allowed to be an upper class educated gentleman?
Are you kidding me? Please deliver Hugh Jackman and Ben Stiller in Bad Boys 3. That would be hilarious!
I'd watch that. I'd also like to see Stephen Chow play Mathilda.
Abbreviated Reviews Ben Stiller? I think cmon man your reaching. Give that shit to Mark Wahlberg. I would definitely pay for that.
Ernie Ortiz Hugh Jackman and Mark Wahlberg for Bad Boys 3? Sounds pretty lit.
Abbreviated Reviews yeah lol
Abbreviated Reviews I would live to see it also, although it sounds like a parody which is exactly what the comment was saying
Eric Cristo Patriarchy doesn't exist in the west
Chris Bama not by law but by culture, beliefs etc.
Its not nearly as bad as middle eastern cuntries, but its good to acknowledge when it happens so we can try to solve those issues like what joseph said.

Being that I live in MD, it is ridiculous to see how coaches are treating athletes. Especially when some of these athletes aren’t on full ride scholarships and truly love the sport. Pushing people past their limits in extreme weather like this summer is very saddening. Sports are mean’t to be fun not to torture people
zachandbro real sport thousands of years ago was not meant for fun unless you are the one watching.
Well the point is to go past your limits when training. You will be fighting exhaustion while playing in the sport. But these have to be done in controlled environments and with water. The point is to be conditioned for the sport. To be able to go further without slowing down as much or to just go further depending on the sport.
Enter Valhala real sports thousands of years ago were also for slaves in gladiator games
Mr. YoYoBoBo ChaddyInsaneZhangII Roman gladiators were not necessarily slaves and were considered celebrities. No facts in this discussion.

So glad you covered the burnout thing ! I'm finding it tough to be creative at the moment every single day and this really spoke to me - because a lot of TH-camrs work on their own it's hard to know how other TH-camrs find the creative process, so it's comforting to know I'm not alone !!
I feel like the problem is people feel the need to keep up with youtubes awful algorithm instead of their content
I didn't realize how badly I wanted a Bad Boys sequel with Hugh Jackman and Ben Stiller until someone said it.
My thoughts exactly
they should name it good boys
And they're police dogs
Dread Pirate Robots true
I'm... ok with this.
please talk about the university in japan that made it harder for female students to pass
The reasoning the university gave was disgusting.

Heat stroke is 100% preventable. His death tells me that they didn’t act appropriately. Its obvious.
Agree, toxic environment and people in charge of the situation are to blame! Negligence to the extreme. Everyone there let him down sadly and his family has to live with that. :( I don't know if I could keep my shit together if it was someone I knew so that's why I feels so bad for his family and friends!
Mr. Nobody *extended period of time*
So yes, it's preventable from even getting up to that high body temperature.
"Imagine Zac Effron playing the Black Panther." 😂😂 I laughed out loud for sure.
BLM gonna riot everywhere for that one, I highly doubt death won't come.
lol, that would cause an uproar.
+i Quote Randomly From Books ?but he is british
Does anyone remember how nuts the world went when they heard that James Bond would have blonde hair instead of the usual dark hair?
Now hes gonna have dark skin instead, I dont know how humanity will ever recover
I thought you meant actual yellow jackets and I was very confused
Tyclone I'm allergic to bees as well. Anytime I get stung by one it hurts like a mother and I get a little red bump where they stung me.
Black Binder lol
+Black Binder How often do you get stung and are you swatting them away when it happens?
Thank you for when you said " you're not weak, you're just human", I really needed that pump up today
UV Scuti I love the idea of him as a bond but it would be cool if Elba got his own character
As long as they only make the changes to better keep with the character's iconic points it usually turns out great. On the other hand I really don't know what they were thinking with this last one.
juju miner idris Elba is African. I don’t care that he was born in Britain
People cheering Elba as bond are the same people who got upset about Johansson in Ghost in the Shell, be consistent people.
Finish your cardio fatass!"
I decided not to participate in college sports after I graduated high school but I went from 7th grade through my senior year playing football.
The Enthusiasm Project There are real jobs to earn a living from. If you're putting all your eggs in the TH-cam basket I feel no sympathy for you.
CaronDriel I do not like black people
Honestly most people I've spoke to about Elba being bond are happy with it. He's a great actor and would be awesome as bond. I'm British btw
we drink tea.
thats British society in 3 words
the only requirement.
CaronDriel Black upperclass people exist in Britain they’re just rarer than white upperclass people
define "hardwired" and why it applies to Bond. You could say the same thing for any change in the Bond series, why is race a problem?
Idris Elba is a great actor, but why does he HAVE to be James Bond? This is an opportunity to create a whole new story based around a whole new agent.
You just said it, "great actor". Why can't people look past the hue of someone's skin and enjoy art as it was intended? These people are ACTORS, nothing is authentic about playing someone other than yourself.
I would want him to be a new agent too. But 🤷🏾♀️...
Just enjoy the damn movie regardless of who's playing it.
then you should read the bond books.. james bond was and is his birth name... his father was andrew bond and his mother monique bond.... only 007 is an alias ...
so maybe you should either read your theories properly or read the actual books instead, to see that the theory about his name does not make any sense... we don't need to theorize about his name, because the author told us where his name comes from and who his parents are.. and they were NOT black
so yeah zac afron can play black panther, but he can't play T'Challa... idris elba can play 007 an MI6' agent, but he can't play james bond, because james bond is not black, just like t'challa is not white.... but if elba can play james bond then efron can play t'challa without anyone of you bitching about white washing... can't wait to see that...
I would only watch this Black Panther IF, Efron did play T'Challa, BUT the rest of the cast didn't change, and no one ever mentioned him being a white American.
Tell me your eye wouldn't twitch throughout the entire film as you constantly whispered "What the fuck?"
+crappiefisher13 since when do the bond movies stick to the books?
toltecnightmare that might actually make black panther watchable lmao
+mr_graphical
lmao james bond is based on the books by ian fleming and he makes it very clear that james bond is not an alias, but yeah keep grasping for straws, because the source material clearly states that his name is not an alias
I could not care less what race James Bond is. I am, however, still upset about him now drinking Heineken in lieu of his traditional martinis (which must be shaken, not stirred). That is all.
Glory Hulle you got your priorities damn right.
It will still be in the James Bond universe, people would still want to see it
Funny enough Bond drank more scotch than martinis. He also hated tea and preferred coffee.

"Find a job you enjoy and you'll never work a day in your life, because it's probably not hiring"
Honestly I think characters should be as they are written. If someone is white in written material, make them white on screen. If they're written as a Japanese person, make them Japanese on screen.
As if scripts can never be changed
That's easy enough to say when the vast majority of pre-existing characters that get adapted to film are white. :(
Lee Almonte, there are plenty of non-white ones, and even if that were so - that isn't something that can't be rectified...
Elena J I share the same views
jonathan bethsaida Patience Phillips was black, Selena Kyle was white. So they didn’t change the colour of her skin. Read a comic you uncultured swine
This video gave me a comforting feeling of Defranco being around in media for my generation for a long time. I am really okay with that. In my eyes there couldn't be a better person to represent our ideas for the future.
If Idris Elba is Bond it pretty much confirms the theory that James Bond is just a codename.
It isn’t a code name because in Skyfall when he goes to his family home you can see on his parent’s graves that they were named Bond too
I don't think enough is being said about the Comfort Women story... It may seem like South Korea is being unreasonable by not acknowledging Japan's attempts at restitution as sincere, but keep in mind:
These were tens of *thousands* of women (the official number isn't even known; it could be anywhere from 20,000 to 410,000) who were raped repeatedly while their country was being invaded.
I wouldn’t mind a black James Bond, but I’m trying to imagine a black James Bond trying to disguise himself in a country like Switzerland 🤣😂😂
Theodore Williams there are Black people that travel you idiot
To be fair the first Daniel Jame Bond movie had I'm Africa running through a black crowd
You'd probably be as likely to find a black military intelligence officer in 1962 England as you'd be to find a white one in Wakanda.
prof shad you missed the point entirely
Yeah because it's not like Bond ever travels outside of europe
I had my phone connected to my loud ass speakers in my Christians grandparents household, I mis clicked on this video, and all the whole house heard was “what’s up ya beautiful bastards” and all you heard from everybody was a loud “HUH!” and now I want to die.
I always thought James bobd/007 was just a reoccurring code name for different agents.
Alex Turner me too, like every bond has looked pretty different, i was just convinced it was a codename that could be given to any agent. it would be interesting to see a new agent take on the 007 codename.
Alex Turner Yeah same
Alex Turner i like him, im excited to see idris as bond
It is. 005 and 009 have been 'killed' and replaced several times.
007 is a code name. His name is James Bond. The other 00# have names also. Just saying.
James Bond only has to have one quality: women want him and men want to be him. Eeheh
Balon Greyjoy It’s funny because you named yourself after one of the biggest bitches in Game of Thrones
Balon Greyjoy How's life as an incel?
+misha I remember someone involved in the James Bond franchise (high level) being asked by a reporter after the first election of Barack Obama whether there could be a black James Bond one day. The "James Bond person" said yes. When asked by the same reporterr if James Bond could be gay, the answer was a clear no. The reason given was about what the same as what you said in your comment. I once heard that James Bond drinks A LOT in the films, so I guess he couldn't be played by an actor who's only willing to play characters who hardly ever drink.
I Quote Randomly From Books
I don't always agree with having actors of different races play the same character, but in this situation it's fine, because Bond isn't defined by his race or what he looks like, and has also been played by many different actors. And if this upsets you that much then I hate to say this but......you might be an r word. Take that however you want to.
+I Quote Randomly From Books I know that they're different. I wasn't equating the two.
TheDetektiveConan then they could spin off of that.
Well, considering 007 has already veered off source material, that boat has sailed. Looks like Idris will be the new Bond, James Bond.
Either another 00 agent, or go for the "James Bond is a codename"
Jamezeboyy there's nothing to say that both "James Bond" and 007 aren't code names
Personally I like the idea of James Bond being a code name and not a stand alone character so for me personally it doesn’t matter who plays it
ben duggan Right?? I mean, we are all just here to watch a posh douchebag do cool spy stuff... who cares who the actor is?
It never was. ITS only a Internet rumor. James Bond is his real Name.. 007 is his Code name
Yeah the code name theory is all but confirmed IMO.
What kind of fucking code name would james bond be
I always assumed it was just a code name, otherwise we wouldn’t have a Scottish actor and British actors playing the same characters.
Olivia Mac Arthur Doctor Who is a title though? James Bond is a chracter, Agent 007 is the title.
Apples and oranges.
so what about all the other times he has changed
Olivia Mac Arthur why are all these comments about james bond and not the fucking kid who was murdered trying to earn a scholarship
ppl die or don't want to pay the role anymore, he's always been a white brit.
GFY!
Can we stop with polygraph tests and pretending they mean anything?
If the next bond was black I wouldn’t care, as long has he is British.
Jack Waters the point in acting is that they dont need to be that race ethnicity, sexuality anything they just need to be able to play the role well
I think he means as long as the character is a Brit
Fk no I want him to be American!
He should stay as a white British man.
Sir Nuts Of Deez
But he has been a white American and a White Irish man so you can’t really complain about continuity now.
Is that a quote from Uncle Iroh?
Hank Hill How can they be female and transgender??? 🤔🤔🤔
DustyO'Rusty a female to make transgender
The thing is, if you watch Skyfall, you can see James Bond’s parents’ gravestones. They also have the name Bond. The code name isn’t James Bond, it’s 007. Personally I don’t care if a black man plays Bond as long as they work well in the role.
Hugh Chester I thought that was cannon
Why can't we just create another character for Idris? Why does he have to be James Bond?
3ndeavor because I don’t really see James Bond as a white character and just want cool actors to fill the role and I think Idris Elba would be good in it. If someone instead just wants to make a cool spy movie with a brand new character and cast Idris Elba, cool. I just want Idris to be in cool roles because I like Idris Elba
Lastrite EXACTLY!!
Jaiden Animations also had a really relatable video about burnout
She can't animate though.
He featured her video in TIA a week or so ago, but it definitely applies here
Kalfrey she actually can. It may not be good but she still can animate
No one in that community can actually “animate”.
I was thinking she was the one that opened the floodgates. I don't know if there's youtubers that posted videos before her but she was the most popular one I saw first.
How was your day Phil?
he has a hot wife, two cute boys, he is rich, loves his job. HOW DO YOU THINK?
@@jacobcarter6332 it doesn't matter. Those people can still have bad days
Jacob Carter he said "Phil", not Jacob
Lily Smith yea I know, just memeing
Jacob Carter you need to practice more. 2/10
That last one pissed me off to no end. It was so preventable and it didn't have to cost this young man his life.
Hope everyone has an AMAZING day!!❤️❤️❤️
well sometimes it's a thin line between deliver decent work but have a chilled life and cutting of your own ear to paint that masterpiece of your life...
Equalizer 2 has been out since July 17... but, yeah, let's watch the trailer again?
Segkee that’s what I was thinking, I thought maybe he meant to say The Equalizer 3 but nope it was 2 lol
Yeah that confused me lol
Much respect. Great to see an established TH-camr -someone who has the ear of the public, consistently using their vids to not only share pertinent and morally relevant news, but even further yet trying to support those who are struggling. As a fellow Italian: I'm proud of how you try to help the people around you, with you channel. After all, what are we, but dogs, if we aren't trying to lift our fellow man up when he's down and out?
the football player was only 19 :(
And an extremely talented athlete. 5 star recruit. He could have gone and did great things.
Sunday Omony exhibit #3445664 that Canada has AMAZING and VERY NICE people
Hi Mango 339! 😍 Thank you for the kind message. You are awesome! Hugs! Xo 🇨🇦 #LoveFromCANADA 💖
Recently i feel burnout from overworking myself and not giving myself enough sleep or other activities than working. Because in my mind taking break is another hour wasted that could be used for work.
Hi Criss Rivera! 😂 HAHA! Its good to hear from you, eh! 🇨🇦 Xo #LoveFromCANADA

A black man plays 007, no one bats an eye. A white woman plays Motoko, everyone loses their minds.
Double standards at it's best fuck this world
Echo um no I'd say there is a good amount of people not wanting a black man playing 007
We wouldnt have this story if people didnt care.
Clearly people are “batting an eye” at this, hence why it’s in the video
Echo your the true mvp. This double standard is just out of control.
Have you seen Ghostbusters 2016 and Oceans 8? lol
@The Centre Hell no. I actually think Melissa McCarthy is a funny person but that movie looked too cringy.
Melissa McCarthy should play George Washington Carver. Just have her say "peanut butter" a lot.
The burnout segment of this show was something I really needed to hear. Thank you, Phil. Love yo face. ❤️
No. Just go.
#firstworldproblems
+PC Wouldn't moving to a less expensive part of the country alleviate the stress of not having to pay much higher rent and salaries. I understand why Phil needed to be in California 2007-2011 with the whole gang making collab videos with Lisa Nova, Dave Days, Kassem G, Shay Carl, Ben Donovan, etc but what is the need of staying in LA today for Phil?
Same!
THANK YOU for addressing burnout, man x
I don't get how addressing burnout is going to solve anything.. i'm burnt' out from my 9-5 if i told every1 this they'd probably laugh...
tired from a job.. whew knew.. a lot of people are burnt out: they dont complain for millions to hear
“Burnout” = epitome of elitists’ first world problems
pajamagirl123 I never took away the idea that they're not working.
You produce a lot of really great content thanks Phil. If you ever need time off, I’ll be here when you get back. Cheers!
your videos are so well researched and informative.
