I was bout to say…
Beat me to saying this exact thing!
I'm glad the journalists were at least pestering Trump about how he was blaming DEI before the investigation even has a chance to come to any conclusion.
never let a good tragedy go to waste
@@supersaiyn41 I feel like that was his thought exactly
Honestly it's hard not to laugh at Trumps answers to their questions though lol
@kitkat615 I literally choked on my morning coffee. I could not believe he said any of that without any sort of investigation. I believe DEI is the new scapegoat for this administration. I absolutely do not think this is the fault of DEI. It was a tragic mistake, and hopefully we can find the reason at some point.
They need to start pushing back more. Take a page from Australian reporters.
You do have to love the irony of at least three highly unqualified dudes blaming something that wasn't yet investigated on the people that are "not most qualified and smartest"...
The irony Is SCREAMING
Can the word, “irony,” survive this administration? “Small government conservatism,” huh? Yet, a raft of executive orders propose to fundamentally interfere with the civil service, education, business, TV, the internet, international aid, health insurance, news coverage, and on and on until . . . Well, it’s the basic indoctrination of the American people and purging of every industry and civil service until the only people with a job and pension will be people who either support Trump or stay quiet about their opposition. Welcome to Russia 2.0. Otherwise known as Project 2025.
i wanna know where all these geniuses that are training to become air traffic controllers are? Our country is being run by morons.
ATC testing IS some of the most difficult. Entire classes fail. The average failure rate consistently falls between 40 and 50%
@@MegaBrandOn you're heard what trump said - "I own a helicopter".
You see, when you buy anything, whether it be an espresso machine, a rifle or a car, you instantly become extremely qualified in that specific subject without any practise or lessons
No clue why you librals can't understand this simple logic😤🙄
I’m an FAA employee and I work directly with ATC personnel daily. Trump and Vance’s comments about letting just anyone into these positions are just not accurate. Air Traffic Controllers have extremely long and difficult training programs that insure they have the appropriate skills for the position. Many are turned away when they cannot perform to the strict standards. The idea that they let just anyone work in these towers without years of intense training is completely misleading.
The point is for them to be able to go pin the blame on a minority. That is after all what their base elected them to do
@@sclair2854anyone with common sense knows equal opportunity is to blame here, they don't have the intellect 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ how is this guy anywhere near a leadership position, US is so cooked
It's almost like the position of controller is... based on the MERIT of passing the rigorous levels of training.
In fact the position is so HEAVILY based on merit that the Control Towers are shortstaffed because they're having so much trouble finding people that can actually perform to the level required.
The way he talked about it had heavy white supremacist undertones, "Only the highest aptitude, have to be the highest intellect, and psychologically superior people were allowed to qualify for air traffic controllers" comparing hires under his administration to others that allowed DEI hires. As if to say white people do so much better a job than all others.
I'm a US history teacher who teaches from Jefferson through Reconstruction.
Am I not supposed to do my job since I teach about things like the mistreatment of Native Americans through the Indian Removal Act and other laws at that time, the working conditions for kids during the Industrial Revolution, how the invention of the Cotton Gin increased the need for enslaved labor to help plantation owners maximize their cotton profits, how the Fugitive Slave Act made it illegal to help escaped slaves, how the Missouri Compromise/Compromise of 1850/Kansas-Nebraska Act were band-aid fixes to appease slave holders, how Black Codes were basically slavery with extra steps, how black communities were prevented from using their Constitutional right to vote through Jim Crow laws, or how the KKK rose to prominence?
These are all important events in our history that show us why we are the way we are today (for better or worse).
Unfortunately attempting to teach history that shows America for better or worse is precisely the problem. That would allow kids to think critically about the actions of our country's past when the goal could be blind pride and faith in the US instead

As an Air Traffic Controller, this tragedy has me shaken. While I’m trying to process all of this, Trump gets up there and insults myself and my amazing coworkers. He says nothing of the things you mentioned, staffing shortages, training requirements, the 6-day work weeks in a high stress environment and aging and outdated equipment. These are the REAL issues. Very few jobs require you to show up, be perfect while you’re working or people die, but that’s what being an Air Traffic Controller is. I was an Air Traffic controller for the Army for 6 years. It's not like controllers just fill out an application and are offered a job. Even then it could take several more years before you get to be in towers at airports that handle that much traffic. It's unlikely that any of those controllers have less than 8-10 years of experience. Controllers are held to high standards and its one of the most stressful jobs you can have. Acting like these people are just hired through DEI is insane. Everyone is held to the same standards as a controller.

In 1994 the government passed a 10 year ban on all assault weapons, and the Supreme Court reinforced the full depth of the law when brought to court and challenged against the Commerce Clause and the Equal Protection Clause. From 1994-2004, the time the ban was in place, Columbine school shooting occurred, as well as the most notorious bank robbery in LAs history that rewrote law enforcement protocols across the country.
Banning firearms is not the answer. Don’t let them take the one thing away that lets us all fight back against the orange man, or others with worse agendas. America was founded from that ability to fight for what is right, and we cannot give that up now. There can always be better regulation and legislation, but outright bans will ensure we remain powerless forever.

My girlfriend’s family is from Wichita and knew someone on the plane. Absolutely terrible that a tragedy like this has to immediately be turned political by the new administration. I also feel for the pilot’s families that now have to see their family members being smeared and called “not qualified” because of a terrible accident. Horrible for everyone involved.
When there’s a mass shooting those same people who politicize the crash say that it is inappropriate to politicize the mass shooting. Thoughts and prayers.
Condolences to all the people affected by this. It is super sad and scary that it happened. But, and I don't know if it is true, I just heard it on the interwebs, you know..... that just a few days before the accident the Trump administration fired a bunch of air traffic controllers or something like that. Don't know what you all have heard? But maybe that is why it is being politicized.
Also,... this is arguably one of the easiest responsibilities that the president has, to guide and console the country through tragedies.
Trump does a super poo poo job of this. So you could politicize it for that too.

It's so f'd up because, obviously no discrimination is OK but being disabled or becoming disabled can happen to literally anyone at literally anytime. You can have a car accident. You could have something happen at work. There is no racial or cultural nuance to being disabled, and the only reason these types attack disabled people is quite literally wanting them dead because they think helping disabled people is too expensive or too hard. Hes shit for jumping straight to politics, but let's be real, most politicians are like that. Take the immediate politics, like within hours, that occur from both sides when a shooting happens
The gun issue has nothing to do with this. You know it’s more complicated from it being a constitutional right to having a right to self defense to the fact that guns save exponentially (more than 10 X) live that they take and of the ones they take it’s primarily suicides and gang violence.

Even if someone believes this, it just blows my mind that parents rather have a dead child than an autistic child.
It’s absolutely ridiculous! My daughter has autism and it pisses me off every time someone tries to ask me about her vaccination status. How mad are you at them?
My teacher was applying to become a government worker in the pentagon a few years ago. One big thing they asked was “Is Edward Snowden a traitor?” And he HAD to say yes in order to continue on, if he said anything else the interview would’ve been immediately cancelled. It’s infuriating how these Russian assets can just dodge the question and not give any definitive answers.
But hes not a traitor hes a hero?
@ he leaked documents of phone companies recording people without their permission to Russia and China basically giving them free intel without informing the government
It's sad to see them lumpimg Snowden in with those others mentioned as if his actions were objectively wrong. They keep talking about Snowden like he is horrible and wrong for what he did. His method was poor, but his intent was noble.
Have we reached a point that we're so far removed from that incident that everyone has just forgotten what Snowden actuay did? What he did NEEDED to be done. The government was going unchecked and using the Patriot Act to justify heinous oversteps of some pretty basic constitutional rights to privacy of its own citizens. He saw the government stepping WAY over the line, and took action to inform the people of what was actually going on.
I understand that Snowden deserves some form of punishment. We can't set a precedent that what he did is okay, I'm not in favor of "the ends justify the means" by any account. That said, what Snowden did was the most American thing he could do in that moment. I would like to think that MOST people as appalled as he was with that information, would that steps to do something about it and inform the citizenry. I would hope that Edward Snowden would be looked back on in the future in a similar manner to how modern America views "Deepthroat" during the Watergate scandal.
Snowden isn't now a Russian citizen because he betrayed America, he's a Russian citizen because America turned its back on him and gave him no whistleblower protections that he rightly deserves.
Yes! This! Agree with you 100%
Unfortunately it makes sense for the position. Snowden revealed information the public deserved to know, but also revealed secret agents in various countries like Russia, who had to escape for their lives and many were never heard from again.
Someone seeking to be the head of the organisation that had agents compromised and killed by Snowden cannot be endorsing him.
Snowden certainly is a traitor to the US government, but he a hero the the American people who have to open their eyes to the seedy and shady back dealings preying on us
To answer your second paragraph there, yes. Yes people have no clue what Snowden actually did, and they don't care. A lot of people thought he was Julian Assange, the guy behind WikiLeaks, and this was already within the same year as he was whistleblowing. They *DO NOT* care about the information that Snowden was trying to share, that your own government could spy on you legally without consequences. And that there were actually people in the NSA that was using that technology to spy on their ex has been squashed in the media. And this is a Bi-partisan issue with your government, it's not a right vs left issue. *BOTH* sides seem to think that the end justify the means in this situation in that they accept that citizens of America can be spied on by their own government because it gives the illusion of safety to the nation.
It's F'd up if you ask me, but I'm a foreigner so what do I know right?
If the regime wasn't confused enough to lie to it's own populace 'for the greater good, we just can't trust any of you', about the total surveillance state being silently implemented (i.e. if we had an honest, cooperative, cohesive society); there would be no need for whistleblowers or civil disobedience.

I just want a day to breathe without feeling overwhelmed by news or reading for my friends and family. As a trans latino and child of immigrants, I literally feel my entire existence is in danger.
Solidarity, rainbow fam. Praying for you.
😭 nah fam you're COOKED!
@Snake369 part of my job is news research 🥲
@@Snake369 part of my job is news research :/
@@Snake369 "Stop reading the news so you dont know when they strip your rights away and make it legal to discriminate against you" lol. Sure buddy.
"We don't know what happened, but we have some strong opinions." For the love of god this sounds like a statement out of an Onion article, you cannot convince me Donald Trump is a real living human being at this point.
How can anyone take the whole "we're only going to hire the most qualified people" thing seriously when it's coming from an unqualified secretary of defense?
Exactly, hypocrisy at its best.
Even if he was unqualified how is that not the right statement>
It seems like the administration is more interested in teaching American Mythology instead of American History. The truth is that many of our historical figures simultaneously accomplished great things and were deeply flawed individuals who did not always do the right thing. I am in my mid forties and only in the last ten years did I truly come to appreciate how my history education was very surface level and simplified when I decided to invest time in reading more non-fiction and seeking a deeper dive into American History. I truly believe that it is better to see the great figures of American History in a more nuanced way as it is possible to be both great and flawed. To only teach that America is exceptional is to ignore the many times we had to fail, learn, and grow as a nation to get to the moments of greatness.
