One of my favorite Final Fantasy games, back when it came out on PS2 I was blown away by the graphics and I was definitely able to understand the story more so it stuck with me through the years. Just downloaded the HD remaster on my PS5 a month ago so I’ll get to it after Rebirth. Thanks for the video!
I'm with you... Games full of water... tide...... Tidus ...I'll join you on the massacre on this hilltop ...you can stick your teedus with your ket shee😂
My memories "although vague" of Final Fantasy X comes with spending time with my stepbrother when we were kids, back then i didn't knew anything about the franchise, it was my first exposure to it though i started playing Final Fantasy when i was like 16 back in highschool. Final Fantasy X had a lot of things that really stand out and still hold up today, my favorite of those being the scenery of some places like Zanarkand, Killika, Besaid, Guadosalam, Bikanel and The Calm Lands. P.S Based Teedus.
@@RetroWarsuk The never ending war XD for me it will always be Teedus since in the game he's never called by it's name and since it got name dropped "to my knowledge" was in the Dissidia games and was called as such so it got stuck with me ever since. Same thing with Winona from Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald though i always called her Winoa since i was a kid due to me always smashing the A button too fast so that what i captured from her name and has also stuck with me since then.
I’m enjoying your retrospective so far and I’m about halfway through now, just wanted to point out one additional detail about Wakka that adds to his hatred of Al Bhed. The sword he gives Tidus was the sword Wakka got for his brother, and it’s clearly a really good well made sword, yet, Chappu ditched the sword, took an Al Bhed weapon, didn’t pray like a good Yevonite, then died when his weapon didn’t save him. So Wakka also attaches the death of his brother to the Al Bhed which adds even more fuel to the religious fire.

My personal favorite FF game of all time together with 8. Yuna is arguably the best written female character in all of fiction. The world and lore of this game is INSANE. And it's so enjoyable! I still launch it just to play blitzball once in a while, or to fight some tough monsters. Love it to death!!
Auron's return to the battlefield during the Blitzball tournament and then his speech at the Yunalesca boss battle cemented him as my top favorite. His stoicism, mixed with the occasional gruffness and his mystique made him one of the best characters, if not the best.
Absolutely sublime retrospective. Just started this gem of a game again and came across this video, very glad that I did. Time to binge the rest of your content and check out the podcast, cheers! 🍻

Final Fantasy X is an absolute MASTERPIECE, i remember back in the day i was very dissapointed with the art design, FF8 kinda dissapointed me with the story and 9 with the art, then came to love them, with 10 was the same, couldn´t stand Tidus as a main protagonist, i wanted every FF to be FF7, BUT once i played to the end i was SHOCKED, is a FUCKING MASTERPIECE perfect 10/10, characters, story, dialogue, music, graphics, system 10/10 absolute. The game was HEAVY inspired in SHENMUE 2, the asian theme, the music, the voices and vibe, they wanted too to show the power of Ps2 with the details vs the power of Dreamcast with shenmue. I recommend for those who are fans of FF that don´t like it, to finish it and then talk, the way Yuna and Tidus talk, are so perfect like teenagers, the characters are all perfect, i love this game
i think literally the only reason all of these 90s & 2000s FMVs look so good because they’re the lighting is extremely blown out & gritty… to this day this gritty realism has never been captured on typical cutting-edge PS5 in-game-rendered imagery… everything looks dark & manikin like
Subjective of course but I still love it and consider if the last true gem of Final Fantasy. I enjoyed FFXII more as adult now than a teen but felt a bit more bogged down with plot and the characters and music weren't as memorable in my opinion. However I loved FFVII as much as anyone but VIII and IX along with X are absolutely some of my favorite games hands down even 25+ years later.
spoilers but the whole way yuna ends sin from being reborn is a crazy chance if auron didnt die that soon, tidus wouldnt have been brought to spira if seymour didnt kill his dad at that time, they wouldnt have questioned the traditions of yevon if the aurochs won a few games wakka may have not been that interested in befriending tidus cuz that mf dont look like chappu if everything wasnt a checkovs gun/ work of fiction yuna woulda just sacrificed her life and tidus woulda continued to have a semi normal immigrant life until ultimately killed by sin
A claim kinda is a good thing tho... means square has its an eye on this game which kind of eludes to the rumor being true that square has a ff x-3 in the works
@RetroWarsuk with their recent track record tho... idk not saying 15 and 16 weren't good but I dont find there to be as much replayability in the newer titles or maybe I'm just not into the stories anymore? I'm unsure but something just feels off, with that being said I've loved ff7 remake but mainly because of nostalgia I'm not sure why they decided to stretch the midgar section out as long as they did I also haven't played rebirth so I'm sure it answered alot of people's questions but 🤷♀️
Unfortunate thing about the HD Remasters is the character models are actually worse than the ps2 game because they lost the finished ones from the ps2 in an office fire and never bothered to fix them for the remaster It's the type of thing ehere you might not notice unless you compare them side by side or have played the original a bunch tho Kinda like how Halo MCC was originally built off of the inferior PC port of Halo Combat Evolved, with worse effects and graphics and such, until enough people pointed it out and 343 finally tixed it.
This game made me realize I don't really like JRPGs. I was blown away by the game at first, but when I realized there was no world map and the game was on rails I started hating it. Even the games with world maps are basically on rails with the illusion of freedom and I don't like that anymore now that I've played games like boulders gate and fall out. I kind of despise these games now because it's just excessive fashion and swords that look like they what a toddler thinks would kill a dragon. These games were good back when they were pushing the boundaries of RPGs, but I try and play them now and I'm bored to hell. The stories aren't all that great and they are extremely easy.
Final Fantasy 9 wasn´t even suppose to be a final fantasy game, it moved then to be one and they made it to be cliche retrospective of the classics, there were 3 projects at the same time, FF 9 for ps1, FF 10 for ps2 and FF 11 also for ps2, those 3 were announced at the same time, you can speculate that The Bouncer might have been a FF game that was cancelled and remade to be just a lunch game to show the graphics of the ps2., Squre-Enix used to operate like that., they announced FF 13, FF 14, vs 13 and Type 0 at the same time too in 2006
