  • So... I interviewed Linnea Gits about her art and process for the Pagan Otherworlds Tarot!!! Linnea has been so kind and informative and her thoughts on her work are absolutely fascinating!

My initial video exploring some questions prompted by the deck: • Connect the Decks | Br...
    Art mentioned:
*The Vienna Dioscuridies Bramble - from a 6th century Byzantine copy of De Materia Medica.
*"Scylla" (1938) by Ithell Colquhoun, a British painter (1906-1988).
Stay tuned for next week's video in which I explore my own responses to this information and the deck as a whole.
Outro music played by me ...a silly little modern rendition of a 14th century saltarello.

Thank you Sorsha for going through the effort to bring us this fantastic information! I have a renewed appreciation of this deck, though, oddly, I have to say it looks better in photography than it does in person. To my eye, up close, the images have a grainy, etched quality that does not appear in videos or photos. I wonder what part of the printing process might be responsible and whether other people see this too.

I think I know what you mean...but what I've noticed more is that sometimes I don't notice details in person that I very clearly notice on screen. However, I've noticed the same thing about my own drawings and have taken to photographing them or filming them just to check if I'm missing something in the making process... perhaps it's a similar thing with cameras and published tarot cards!

I'm so excited that you got to do this! Thank you for sharing this interview! I already love this deck so much but hearing about these specific cards makes me love it even more. I can totally see how the personality of the deck really shines when it comes to court cards

The court cards really are amazing. This deck still hasn't ceased to show more detail. I've been loving the process! I'm glad you're enjoying it too! ^_^

Wow, Sorsha what a great interview! So happy you shared with us! This is one of THEE most beautiful decks ever created, and though I struggle with the slippery cardstock, it's a permanent work of art in my collection! Love your gorgeous dress, I'm so jealous of your clothes!

Thank you! The deck is definitely one of my most slippy decks and I still regularly send cards flying all over the place :P It's getting a little better with consistent use though...and I suppose I'm also getting better at adjusting my shuffling a little. Aw, thanks for your compliment of my clothing. I'm kind of obsessed with the way style works and (as I think you can tell) take that pretty seriously in my own life. Why should art canvases and yule trees have all the fun? ;)

I highly appreciated this video, along with the previous one you made about the art in this deck. Your videos are always informative, thoughtful, and inspiring! I love your more academic take on creating tarot and witchcraft content, and find it very affirming for my own nerdy projects, both in my job as a literary scholar and teacher and in my private practices with tarot and other esoteric workings 🖤

I really regret decluttering this deck!

Oh no! Perhaps there's some consolation in the idea that almost any deck supports this kind of a deep dive? :P
