Mike thanks for this. I test drove the Sypder in Nov and went back to work and forgot about it. Watching this vid a couple of times made me remember and go buy one. Love the car.
It's really a shame they did not give the Spyder GT4 treatment... It would be the only possibility to have Porsche's "GT" experience with the roof off... Just think about it: a mid-mounted 3.8l NA Flat six, in a small roadster, with GT3 suspensions and an oldschool manual transmission (long gearing). This would be a good throwback to the old racers :/ I'm pretty sure if it happened, the Boxster Spyder would be going for crazy money, and would've known the kind of price rising Ferrari's 458 Speciale A is having right now (in terms of pourcentage. Yep, almost 200k € for a used Boxster !).
+Baerchenization It's in the comments (have to expand to see it): Filmed with GoPro HERO4 silver, with Sony ECM-MS907 microphone mounted just above the exhaust (to really showcase the sounds).
+Mike Ludes Cheers! Yeah, I am hugely frustrated with my built-in cam-mic, it is literally useless. I remembered that the Winding Road Magazine (?) featured their recording setup some time (years?!) ago; they used a 'binaural mic', which you can use to make recordings that are representative of what the driver would hear in his position (looks like an in-ear head-set). I wanted to go with that but quickly found out that there are quite better recorders and mics now compared to what they had featured at the time. So I found the Roland R-05 recorder and the binaural mic Roland CS-10EM. But I will get that mic of yours for the exhaust, as well, it seems to be a quality mic for many years now according to the reviews.... cheers! Despite the non-existant mic-capability, I just got a second identical camera though, a JVC Adixxon (60 bucks on Ebay now, used), because I specifically wanted a lesser wide angle than the GoPro - I just don't like how those very wide-angle lenses collapse the picture inwards around the edges, and it is still pretty wide either way. It can't do 60FPS at 1080, but this is the old model, which is sufficient for my personal tinkering. For 60 bucks, I don't mind if it falls off on the Autobahn ;)
You dont need radio with that amazing sountrack
Still my favorite Boxster (movie) ever, because of this wonderful sound!
Glad to see a proper mic setup to get the audio right, great vid!
Gosh diggity frick that boxter sounds gnarly
That sound !!!!!!! Amazing. I want this car soo bad.
Very special presentation! Thanks! - Kudos from Southern Arizona.

That's absolutely beautiful
So mine sounds that awesome? I'll have to hang a mic at the rear soon 😊
Dream car.
2.5 months to go........ the wait is killing me. Same spec as yours it would appear. Alcantara on the wheel too?
+Princess Peach Yep, Alcantara steering wheel and shift lever.
Robert Luttrell
:-)
How is its
the old 3.8 in the Spyder sounds so much better than the new 4.0 of the high-end 718s it's not even funny.
Sound like lighting 😌
Very nice car. I had a November build (Jan Delivery) but canceled. Don't think that you can go wrong with this car though.
Why did you cancel?
+Awesome Turtle Gaming I purchased a 2016 F Type R Convertible.
+UALHVY Nice!
UALHVY lol idiot
Sounds Fabulous!!!
correct me if im wrong, but does this engine sound the same as the cayman gt4? is it the same engine just upgraded in some way or form?
+Mio Micevski yup same engine. The Cayman GT4 version is just specced to have 10 more hp.
Nice car! I'm getting one soon as well. Are those bucket seats?
Yep, it's P11: Full Bucket Seats, aka Lightweight Buckets (LWB)
wow~~~ very nice Fun car!!
Does the gearing seem a bit tall?
😍😍😍
Find a road mate!

Kaisuke971 it is already almost like that, but good news, rumor has it New spyder will have (detuned) 4.0 GT3 engine
choob, the 718 Spyder has the GT3 front suspension but not the GT3 motor. That sum bitch is reserved for the 911 Speedster, $299K.
918 Subs :)
Is that a camera or external mic?

it would be nice if the driver better understood the P's spirit. This is NOT a mustang
Sounds artificial and it wiuld annoy me over time. Like a loose muffler. Prefer the sound of clean high rpm. Not popping and farting sounds.
Greg Miel blah blah blah blah blah.
The Porsche Sport Exhaust can be switched off, but then the auto rev match is off too.
