I've been looking forward to this arrangement for a while, and boy, it does not disappoint! I realize that it might not be for everyone (which is ok) but I found the song I'm putting on repeat for a while!
Cathedral organs never sound bad. The worst they can do is make everything else with them sound unnecessary. Most under-utilized instrument ever, and one that deserves more credit. I listen to death metal and black metal all day every day, but the pipe organ is a more profound invention than the electronic guitar that came hundreds of years earlier, honestly. Every single one ever built should be revered IMO, not even trying to exaggerate.
I won't lie, this exceeded my expectations but I guess it's probably because of Yoshida going nuts on that guitar (also that pipe organ part was very neat)
HER GUITAR IS SICK AS FUCK! The way she's playing, how its tuned, it adds a new air of "malevolence" and EVIL to this track in its own way, and makes it seem more menacing than powerful and epic. Great arrangement. This is how arrangements are meant to be done imho.
I'm starting to regret getting invested into Falcom games. I thought it'd be fun to read about a smaller series I've developed a modest passion for, but no, much of the online fandom is apparently certifiable. These comment sections and the subreddit give me second-hand embarrassment every time I look at them. Whoever posts these videos is the same way based on one comment I've seen. And then there's the spreadsheet or whatever with all the deduced composer credits. What's especially annoying is that so many other game series have people complimenting the soundtrack wherever it's posted on TH-cam, many of which certainly feature worse music than Falcom's offerings. But no... this fandom is addicted to misery. If it's not a masterpiece, it's garbage.
the original one is still better for me because that one bring the sadness and lonelyness to us while we listening. that why this song is fit to the scene that Van tranform to the Grendel SIN.
Unmitigated Evil is when you pull flowery music terms out of your ass to hate on a skilled musician because you don't like him for some indiscernible reason. I guarantee if they fucked up and accidentally said Jindo made this arrange the comments would all sing its praises. The song is great. Some people just can't let themselves enjoy it though. Really tall order rearranging one of the best songs Falcom has ever put out but they tried all right and it turned out... Good enough? I personally think the instruments don't mix together all that well, there's something that feels unnatural.
@@historian252 Standard Singa percussion that has no weight or impact behind it (For example, the cymbals are pathetic and have next to no presence once the intro ends). Mismanaged use of live instruments, this one might be just my opinion but the violin really should not have been used for the chorus, a guitar instead would deliver the appropriate energy needed for a chorus like the one in unmitigated evil, like what was done in the original. Now this is a usual Singa issue but he makes next to no attempt to deliver any interesting second half to the chorus, it's just a repeat, why he does this is likely just because he has no interesting ideas to add to the chorus or you know, it's a lot easier to just repeat a melody twice with very little change to save time and effort (as expected from Singa). Overall audio clarity is lacking when compared to the original, Singa's mixing ability just cannot hold a candle to Jindo's (a simple side by side comparison between this and the original is evidence of this). Can't fault Yoshida though, she did pretty well but Teramae is just too good. Plus, the organ section is pretty neat. There are obviously more faults to this song but I'll leave that to the people who know a lot more about music than I do
@Lolbruhmoment So you say yet the violin was used excellently and trying to have the thing done by guitars is just imitating Jindo rather than arranging the song itself. What really needs to be added to a song that already has a long section Nindo is a better mixer and composer but nothing about this makes it sound "amateur".
It's not a bad track on its own (it's mostly Jindo's composition carrying hard, but Singa's arrangement is decent enough as well and Sakura's guitar is cool) but in the context of the original it just makes me wonder what's the point of arranging something to just make it worse in most aspects.
Yoshida carrying the arrangement. Other than that, it's quite strange to release this as "Super Ultimate" when the original is already perfect. Quite sad, actually. Love the guitar work here, though. The solos are very cool.
Agreed the biggest ploblem that i have is the weak violin, even singa synth violins manage to sound better than this one(with the exception of rise of the grendel super ultimate in which the live violin actually sounds good)
The guitar brings the heat, the pipe organ is super rad, but the violin falls so flat just repeating the melody with no alterations or crescendos like the original does and that broke it for me. Still not bad, but wasn't as great as I had hoped.
Not a huge fan of this one; the violin just does not do it for me, and neither do the drums (which happens a lot in Singa rock pieces). And like I said for Resonance of Ray, the original being one of my favorites kind of makes it sting even more.
All the complaints I've seen regarding Singa seem pretty validated TBH. He seems to put as little effort as possible into making anything truly stand out, while at the same time trying too hard with instrumentation to compensate for his lack of creativity. You could listen to any Unisuga or Jindo track and it's like night and day. Singa seems like the textbook definition of "stolen valor".
6/10 originally gave an 4/10 because the song disappointed me but listening to it again it is actually not that bad,but it is genuinely such a massive downgrade form the original track and its all thanks to the violin player(please singa, for the love of god,use mizutani or nagano, just dont use the new violin player he sucks, except for rise of the grendel, his violin play in there is actually pretty good) but still if it was all guitar or had another violin player it would be better than the original
Awful guitar solo at the start, the rest is unremarkable. Though the guitars and violin hurt my ears, I had to turn the volume down. But that isn't something new when it comes to Singa. Either way, this is more or less like a cheap amateur cover version of the original, not much to say other than that there's no reason to listen to this when there's the professional original version.
I've been looking forward to this arrangement for a while, and boy, it does not disappoint! I realize that it might not be for everyone (which is ok) but I found the song I'm putting on repeat for a while!

Right here at 0:40 is how they build up to their first boss fight that opens in action combat. Hoping for this in Kai.
Kai's final boss is action combat, so there you go. The final phase is at least.
