I was born and raised in UK, both my parents are Jamaican, I grew up in the 1960s and the "mesh marina" was the thing that most Jamaican men wore, as underwear. At that time they were mainly white, and they also had the briefs to match. Not only did Jamaicans wear them, but the White British wore them too, but because of people going backward and forward from JA to the UK, people would often ask us to bring the "marina" for them, or send them back to Jamaica whenever we returned. Because they were so popular, I expect they were imported into Jamaica in large quantities as well. The addition of the Black Green and Gold, and Rasta Colours to them is uniquely attributed to Jamaica. I love them, they look great whether Coloured or White...to think of it, I need to pick up a couple more.

Iagl I went London 2007,started cutting hair ina one Wealdstone jamaican shop,them bruddahs took me in and I was sor sort of the shop mascot since I was the only Romanian on the highstreet,and one hot summer day I showed up to work dressed in a white wife beater and they proper laughed for like a whole week saying that couldn't be more jamaican invented if I tried.this bring back sweet memories,in a grown man now but I would give everything I've got to relive them times.maybe in my next life.

My Jamaican father always wore a marina (what foreigners would call an undershirt). It was what he was most comfortable in, especially when relaxing at home. The mesh marina is perfect!
