T-Ara was known for being one of those groups who switched concepts like it was a quick-change outfit. You never know what you were going to get from one comeback to the next. You want cutesy? Girl crush? Super sexy? a little strange? Hard hitting EDM? slower ballads? They've done it all. They really were a top group of their time and were popular not only in Korea but also overseas in China and Japan. Its unfortunate that their career started to suffer a bit when a bullying controversy broke out within the group and there was a lot of finger-pointing that cause the group to decline in popularity. Though they were eventually able to bounce back a bit nearing the end of thier contract. They disbanded in 2017 but it seems like some of the members did express interest in continuing to promote as a group. The issue was, their former company refused to hand over the rights to the name "T-ARA" .
Yeah, here's a story time everyone: In 2012, there began to be rumours/accusations that the T-ara members were bullying the member Hwayoung after she didn't attend practices/performances due to injury, and some "cryptic" Twitter posts. The agency swiftly removed Hwayoung from the group. However, they did not issue an apology from the group. To many Korean fans, this was disrespectful, so they turned their backs toward the group. Flash forward 5 years to 2017. "What's My Name" was to be their last comeback with the original 6 members, before their contracts expired. Unfortunately, due to production issues, the comeback was delayed and 2 members pulled out from the comeback, as their contract would expire before the new comeback date. It was also belatedly revealed by some staff members' text messages that the reality was Hwayoung (and her twin sister) were bullying/threatening one of the other members - that's why T-ara didn't issue an apology, because the agency saw the other members as having done nothing wrong. Eventually, after T-ara's comeback, they won 1st on a music show for the first time in 5 years. Not to mention they made comebacks every year during those 5 years. Then, at the end of 2017, as the other 4 members' contracts expired, it was revealed their agency was trying to file a copyright for the "T-ara" group name and songs. Fortunately, the agency and the members were able to come to some agreement, and the copyright claim was even rejected by the copyright board.

Super cute & catchy songs: Bo Peep Bo Peep & Roly-Poly. They also have a few good Japanese-only songs. They almost were as big as Girls Generation back in the day, and even though they've disbanded in 2017, T-ARA still appear in the monthly top 50 chart of popularity. But they're definitely worth checking out.

They are actually known for that dance track type of music in kpop. T-ara is one of the legends in the 2nd generation in terms of girl groups, along with Girls' Generation, 2NE1, Wonder Girls, and f(x). Thank you for giving T-ara the attention they deserve :) T-ara originally had 6 members in 2009, when they debuted, but they actually had members to be switched out at times, so their history is a bit confusing. But here are the main members you need to know: Qri, Jiyeon, Hyomin, Eunjung (my bias loool), Soyeon, and Boram. Those are the 6 main members of T-ara you need to know. Boram and Soyeon left the group unfortunately, but the four remaining members are still in the group. The muted vocals was an even bigger thing in Gen 1. Like some of the songs have very loud instrumentals compared to the vocals, so it had just been a thing in general back in the day (tho Gen 1 was way before this song came out).

It's been a while since I listened to this song since it came out, so thanks for putting me on my T-ARA and 2013/14 kpop bops playlist. :) All them memories ..... kpop is amazing now too, but them vibes from earlier years are my favorite
BTW my fav older groups: Infinite, 2pm, Wonder Girls, MissA, Kara, Teen Top, ZE:A, MBLAQ, After School, Sistar, Beast, Ukiss, 2AM, TVXQ.... man I could go on and on (most of my fav groups debuted 2010)
Nowadays my fav are Stray Kids, Onues, The Boyz, Day6, Got7, NCT, WayV, and Ateez
and fot GG: G-Idle, GFriend, and Mamamoo

Wooow you reacted to T-ara (btw you pronounced the name right), my second fave 2nd gen group after Snsd!! Actually, these two groups used to be really good friends. Sunny, Yuri and Hyomin (from T-ara and my bias) were on Invincible Youth together and they became great friends, especially Sunny and Hyomin (best friends). Soyeon trained with Soshi; She was almost a member. You should react to "Number 9" next, which is one of my favourite songs ever (definitely in top three). Of course I hope you will watch Snsd again, too.
T-ara is a group who had a lot of line-up changes. However, fans' favourite line-up is these six members, often called 6-ara. These girls were in the group from the very beginning until their latest comback, when Soyeon and Boram left.
