Hello! Sorry for the late reply. 😰 I'm sure your English ability isn't lost. You just need to practice once in a while to maintain your level. Have a great day! 🤩
@@englishspeaking360 No worries at all, teacher! You're right, I need to keep practicing, and I try to do so whenever I can, even though I live in France. The biggest problem is that the vast majority of my contacts are either Brazilians or French. Even when I go to an event that is supposedly held to practice the English language (usually in a bar or restaurant) after a few minutes and a few shots of alcohol, people start speaking either in their native languages or in French. By yhe way, which country are you teaching English in? Are you the head of the professional English language educators? :) Thanks again and have an awesome! ; )
@riclou1910 Hello! You're right about language exchange events. It's quite hard to find people who are motivated enough to keep speaking English without falling back on their native language to express difficult ideas and concepts. The only effective way I've found is to get a girlfriend with whom the only common language is English. That way both must use English without using another language as a crutch. Being in love with someone makes you want to understand everything they say and then you improve very quickly. If that's an option for you, I highly recommend it. As for me, I'm currently teaching at a public school in Asia, but I'm thinking it might be time to make a move. France sounds like a fantastic place to live! Have a wonderful day! 🌞
Good suggestion! Non-defining clauses are almost the same as defining clauses except that they are put between commas to show that the information they contain is not necessary.

Sir, thank you for your reminder. I just say or write the place I live in is quite or the place where I live is quiet naturally, and I even don't notice they are different. After what you said, I got an epiphany. 😂

Can you please find out gerunds in this paragraph. Hiking through the dense forest, we heard a twig snapping behind us. A deer was grazing nearby. The sun began setting, casting a warm glow on the tree tops. Being in the forest and listening to the sounds of nature calmed our souls. We enjoyed breathing in the fresh, earthy air
Good try but... here are the gerunds and present participles: Gerunds: 1. Hiking - Used as the subject of the sentence. 2. Listening - Acts as a noun in the phrase "listening to the sounds." 3. Breathing - Used as a noun in the phrase "breathing in the fresh, earthy air." Present Participles: 1. Snapping - Describes the action of the twig, used as an adjective. 2. Grazing - Describes the deer, used as an adjective. 3. Setting - Describes the action of the sun, used as an adjective. 4. Casting - Further describes the action of the sun, used as an adjective. Summary: Gerunds function as nouns, representing activities or actions. Present participles function as adjectives, describing nouns or pronouns in the sentence.
Hello! The expression "which in turn" is not limited to a negative context and can definitely be used in both positive and neutral situations. It simply means "as a result of that" or "consequently," showing a chain of cause and effect, without inherently suggesting anything negative or positive. Examples in Positive Contexts: "She learned how to cook from her grandmother, which in turn inspired her to become a chef." "They increased their advertising budget, which in turn boosted their sales." Examples in Neutral Contexts: "The meeting was postponed, which in turn changed the deadline for submissions." "The project was delayed, which in turn affected the team’s timeline." So, "which in turn" is quite versatile and can fit any context where you're describing a sequence of events or effects.
@@englishspeaking360well, it sounds like Chinese. There are also three words of Mandarin relative to, and they are just the same meanings to hello, hi and hey. What a coincidence.
Relative pronouns like "when," "where," and "why" are typically used in restrictive relative clauses to provide essential information, often linked to time, place, or reason, respectively. For example: "The day when we met was memorable." "This is the park where we play." "The reason why he left is unknown." These pronouns are usually not used in non-restrictive (unrestricted) clauses, which provide additional, non-essential information. Non-restrictive clauses more often use "who," "whom," "whose," or "which".

Hi! Send me your answers and I'll tell you if you're right. 🤩🇨🇦
@englishspeaking360 ok, I think the gerunds are hiking, snapping, setting, being, listening, breathing
Good try but... here are the gerunds and present participles:
Gerunds:
1. Hiking - Used as the subject of the sentence.
2. Listening - Acts as a noun in the phrase "listening to the sounds."
3. Breathing - Used as a noun in the phrase "breathing in the fresh, earthy air."
Present Participles:
1. Snapping - Describes the action of the twig, used as an adjective.
2. Grazing - Describes the deer, used as an adjective.
3. Setting - Describes the action of the sun, used as an adjective.
4. Casting - Further describes the action of the sun, used as an adjective.
Summary:
Gerunds function as nouns, representing activities or actions.
Present participles function as adjectives, describing nouns or pronouns in the sentence.

Sir, which in turn only is used in worse situations? Can it be used in better situations?
Hello! The expression "which in turn" is not limited to a negative context and can definitely be used in both positive and neutral situations. It simply means "as a result of that" or "consequently," showing a chain of cause and effect, without inherently suggesting anything negative or positive.
Examples in Positive Contexts:

"They increased their advertising budget, which in turn boosted their sales."
Examples in Neutral Contexts:
"The meeting was postponed, which in turn changed the deadline for submissions."
"The project was delayed, which in turn affected the team’s timeline."
So, "which in turn" is quite versatile and can fit any context where you're describing a sequence of events or effects.
@@englishspeaking360I see. Thank you. 😊
Sir, do hello, hi and hey mean different levels of being polite?
Yes, that's right. HELLO is normal, HI is casual and HEY is very casual.

There is no unrestricted relative clause in this part. Can’t these relative pronouns be used in this way?
Relative pronouns like "when," "where," and "why" are typically used in restrictive relative clauses to provide essential information, often linked to time, place, or reason, respectively. For example:
"The day when we met was memorable."
"This is the park where we play."
"The reason why he left is unknown."
These pronouns are usually not used in non-restrictive (unrestricted) clauses, which provide additional, non-essential information.
Non-restrictive clauses more often use "who," "whom," "whose," or "which".
