I'm glad you painted it blue, looks awesome! Very nice job, looks really good.
Thank you very much mate
It’s the wrong blue, historically speaking. I personally don’t care if it’s historically accurate, and I also think Record should have never painted their stuff blue in the first place, anyway. But if you like blue, that’s a nice blue. Paint it blue if you must. Great job altogether.
Loved this restoration. Great color choice & the Vice is functional & beautiful = Very nice
Thanks very much, still use this thing now and it’s a great vice
Nice blue. Very good restoration 👍👍👍
Thank you and thank you for watching
Something about restoration videos makes my brain happy. Love the work, look forward to the next one!
Thank you mate glad you liked it hopefully have another restoration up soon.
This episode brought to you by Loose Juice, World Peace, and Nice Hair!
Great job, that was in really bad shape, glad you brought it back to life.
Thanks mate yeh it was bad and a lot rust everywhere
Brilliant work & loved the humour! Just got an ancient rusty vice. Thanks to your video, I’m going to try & restore now. Hope it works out!

Hammerite is life !!! Very good job my friend! Really a nice result. 😃👊👍
Haha i was hoping to stir a few trolls using it as well
Beautiful vice, scary tattoos! Thanks.
Thanks. Although id definitely be worried if i was a grown man scared of skin pictures.
Nice job man and perfect color. Liked how you did it all old school. Rare piece ready for another hundred years use.
Thanks very much mate yeh i was really happy with the colour on it and it will be getting mounted when i get in the new place.
Great restoration. 👍🏻
Great thank you mate
Beautiful job - If cold cast iron can actually be that way. Ha, ha. Lovely finish by taking it back to approximately the "original" colour. Once again, Well done!

Thanks for showing the right way to blue metal parts. Almost nobody does the rinse + oil steps. (Or at least they don't show them...)
No problem at all mate
That turned out amazing 👍
Thank you mate
Lovey job! My Record 52 is a 1930's model but it has Made in England cast in the bottom edge under the handle.
Got to love the old ones they have so much more character

Hahahahaha thanks mate i like to play about
Great job!!
Enjoyed and gave a Thumbs Up
Thank you
@@DiesInEveryFilm You're welcome
Great job, looks good. I only found out recently the quick release on vices is pretty much just a British thing.
I didn’t know this myself tbh. Thanks for watching
Thank you for the great restoration, and not bodoing the crap out of it. I love the metal and blue hammerite look. Very industrial and retro, like a nice cafe racer.
Thanks very much for watching, i like to keep my videos simple
Very nice job. Love the idea of making foam bungs to mask holes. Just for your information: Paragon paints (York) make a record vice blue (roundel blue) and its similarly priced to Hammerite.
Anything to help fill the gaps and not use a ton of tape haha.
I tried getting some paint but it was tripple the price and I thought id give it a modern look with the hammerite
Great job looks awesome
Thank you 🙏🏼
Another great jos, I really like the blue Hammer Coat...
Thanks dude im definitely happy with the colour
Now you need to build a table to put that in. Great restoration.
Table already built mate just need to fit it
I did some research and this vise is actually pretty valuable, I saw a rusty one like this for like three grand, you no joke probably have a 5k vise now.
Nice
@@DiesInEveryFilm yeah congrats you just restored a real gem
Dang that thing was a mess. I was sighing with you the whole way through. lol. Love the color!!!
Yeh it sure was and a tough restoration
@@DiesInEveryFilm Did a great job though. You persevered!!!!

Love it bro, cool color too
Great thank you mate
Now that came out purdy! Nice job.
Thank you mate it certainly worked nicely
Nice job, 2 thumbs up!
Thanks a lot
Am glad u "make a new one"...
☺
It definitely needed it
Perfect video
Thanks dude
Well done mate!🍻
Thank you
Always a good job !
Thank you mate glad you enjoyed it
Lovely vice, but a bit later than 1918, most likely the late 1920s and well into the 1930s, definitely a prewar example.
Great to see it given a total makeover and a new lease of life, nice one!
👍
Thanks for watching
Excelente trabalho. Parabéns 👏🇧🇷👏
Thank you
like that you went with blue, so many go black or nekkid...... NOICE!!!
Hahahahaha thank you mate
I have just finished restoration on my No 52 it still has the original blue colour, I just wanted mine to work as I will be using it in my business. But I think it's up to the owner how they finish it.
Nice work
Thank you
gread job dude,,awasome..👍👍👍
Thank so much for watching
English vice's are the best. I've still never seen an American vice with a quick release! Brilliant job!!! That thing was a mess.
Yeh these old beasts are brilliant thanks mate
I knew you would work it out!
Yeh man, always a way
Another great job done mate, you had your work cut out for you there with that one. Nice job 👍
Yes it really was and at one point I didn’t think I would get it finished
@@DiesInEveryFilm you got there though mate and it turned out great.
🙏🏼
wow... nice job man!
Cheers dude
Yeesh. That was super rusted and dirty beyond belief. Great job in restoring it.
Yeh it sure was it definitely got mistreated before i got it
Ooooooooh Ahhhhhhhh Mmmmmmmm great job. love the blue 👍 I've got a Record # 53, quick release binds a bit but i dont use it much. item 732 of things i'll get around to one day 😁

Hahahahaha
1930's model 😍😍👍👍👍
Thanks for watching
Good to chat at the UK knife show, have you ever tried molasses, for rust removal.
Yeh mate good chatting. Not used it before no but i have heard about it mate
Turned out awesome after you got all the years of gunk and grime off of it!!
Yeh mate im happy to revive this neglected vice
Nice 52,1/2. They are getting harder and harder to find.
I fell lucky finding this one for sure
Hey cool resto..have you ever tryed using transmission fluid as a penatrating oil? Martin
Yeh i have mate will probably try it sooner or later
Didint see him in his skivys today are fealing ok haha nice vice resto
Haha no skivys for me
Excellent work for a Drama Queen. I like it! Really.
Hahahahaha I don’t understand what you mean.
Just kidding you about your humor. I like your work and the way you do it.@@DiesInEveryFilm
Ahhh hahahahaha now i get it, sorry i was miles away when reading yesterday. Thanks very much mate
That thing is huge...
Thats what she said
@@DiesInEveryFilm ;D
Damn, half of the piece was rust. I don't know what this is cause I'm not practical, I just like your stuff, but you did a great job. I like it
I love the loose juice
So does my Mrs hahahahaha
... I need a workshop
So do i
Omgosh, that was so disgustingly wondering.
Hahahaha thank you
1. How come you didn't use a torch to heat up the bolt to loosen it? (Asking to learn, not bc I'm one of those twats telling you what to do as if they know better)
2. Please get Rico or the Mrs. to "kill you off" since you die in every film 😋
Stay awesome Onur, love your videos!
Didn’t want to soften the nut by heating it up and ruining it so the impact came out.
Hahahahaha maybe ill get them involved soon
I watch your videos a Lot, an o LOVE tham, so i decided to sub today 😊
Good stuff thank you
I’m so glad I found this as I just got one of the 52’s for a £5 but needs this treatment , I wanted to know how to straitened the threaded screw shaft? It has a slight bow and I am a bit scared to start hitting or yanking on it invade if snaps, any ideas?
Id possibly try heating it up and bending it straight but you would have to be gentle and do it slowly
@@DiesInEveryFilm thanks pal, keep up the great work 🤘🏻
World peace. That would be nice.
Wouldn’t it just
Great work man
What did you use to protect the bare metal?
Thanks mate. What I will do is use a wax coating protection it just hasn’t arrived yet
Great video! Love the colour! Restoring an old vise right now. Very similar design. Do you recall where you purchased the new quick release spring & nut? I'm having a hard time locating one. Thanks!
Thank you very much, unfortunately i can’t remember where it was from but i do know it was crazy difficult to get hold of and took me months
Hi I have just refurbished my record 52. 1/2 vice which looks identical to yours , how did you know it was a 1918 model ?
Keep up the good work
I did a load of research online and asked in forums. There’s slight differences in the design and mouldings as the years go on.
Nicely done. How did you pick the color?
Thank you. I had friendly helpful advice
For those larger parts perhaps investing in a power washer would be a good idea!
If I could afford one I would and if i had the space for one. I did perfectly fine without one tho
Great job and just the right amount of fookwittery. Two words though: media blaster
Nah I enjoyed cleaning it up the way i did.
I use different things for different restorations.
I didn’t have a media blaster at that time but nor would this item have fit in the one i have anyway.
Pozi screws?
Oh dear... you need slot head for historical accuracy. Apart from that glaringly hideous oversight, beautiful job as always. 👍
Hahahahaha these were the only screws i had that fit i got them from the titanic
