@@MonicaLabbao_littlemonicat Yeah! Long before the Reformers showed up, the Catholic Church was already being called “the devil’s harlot,” and Catholics, “servants of Antichrist”: Accordingly, by Montanists, Catholics were called “the carnal;” by Novatians, “the apostates;” by Valentinians, “the worldly;” by Manichees, “the simple;” by Aërians, “the ancient;” by Apollinarians, “the man-worshippers;” by Origenists, “the flesh-lovers,” and “the slimy;” by the Nestorians, “Egyptians;” by Monophysites, the “Chalcedonians;” by Donatists, “the traitors,” and “the sinners,” and “servants of Antichrist;” and St. Peter’s chair, “the seat of pestilence;” and by the Luciferians, the Church was called “a brothel,” “the devil’s harlot,” and “synagogue of Satan.” These groups were the opponents of the Church Fathers and councils who gave us the Nicene, Apostles’, and Athanasian Creeds.
Some of these movements existed for centuries, but they finally dissolved.

Well, sorry. The Gates of Hell DID prevail against the Catholic church. Like Martin Luther said, "I am much afraid that the universities will prove to be the very gates of hell unless they diligently labor in explaining the Holy Scriptures, and engraving them in the hearts of youth. I advise no one to place his child where the Scriptures do not reign paramount. Every institution in which men are not unceasingly occupied with the word of God must become corrupt." That discribes the Catholic church. He also said,"If there is a hell, Rome is built over it: it is an abyss whence issues every kind of sin."

Where is transubstantiation (or whatever it's called) in the Bible, and where does it say that priests have the power to transform wine and bread? And when Jesus said of the bread and wine (at the Passover meal), "This is my flesh... This is my blood," do you also take that literally? If not, then you are inconsistent. Also, in John 6, Jesus said that his words were "spirit... and life." He didn't say that they were literal. He made many statements that you cannot take literally, like "I am the gate," "the door," etc.

@@FrankCostanza-u4b "For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed." (John6:55) Yes, I do take "This is my flesh... This is my blood." literally. As did all Christians, before protestantism. "But there are some of you that do not believe." For Jesus knew from the first who those were that did not believe, and who it was that would betray him. (John6:64) I think it's funny how "Christians" for the past 500yrs think everything needs to be in the Bible in order for it to be true. But there are also many other things which Jesus did; were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. (John21:25) How would anyone know the TRUTH, if it weren't for the Bible, like Christians for the first 300+ years after Jesus ascended? That's why He gave us a CHURCH.

    • @FrankCostanza-u4b
      @FrankCostanza-u4b 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@GodEater82 I take it that you cannot demonstrate transubstantiation from the Bible. You also ignore Christ's words when he says, "Do this in remembrance of me." He does not say, "Do this to remain saved," or "Do this or you will die spiritually," or whatever else your doctrine teaches. Also, if the bread and wine he gave them to eat and drink were literally his flesh and blood, then the Apostles ate it and pooped it out somewhere in Judea long ago. Therefor, no one can eat Jesus' flesh or drink his blood since they are in urine and feces somewhere in Judea. But also, since parts of the bread and wine became part of the bodies of the Apostles, then we'd have to eat their bodies, too. Thomas is buried in India; maybe we could remove his body from his tomb there.
But the truth is that you don't actually take Jesus' words literally. Otherwise, you'd have to admit that the bread they ate was Jesus' body, which it wasn't. But if you think it was, you aren't thinking that from the Bible.
You cannot appeal to John's statement about unlisted miracles to teach a doctrine nowhere expressed in the Bible. What's really sad is that one of the supposedly most important Christian doctrines was never recorded by the Gospel writers, nor is it recorded in any of the epistles.
If you literally believe that you must eat Jesus, then you must bring him down from heaven in order to do so. But you cannot. Therefor, you must make up the ritual of the Mass. But I asked for evidence that this ritual originates in Jesus' teachings recorded in the Bible. You have refused to provide this evidence. The reason can only be because you cannot do so since it isn't there.
Jesus said that he is the bread from heaven. But Jesus is not bread at all; he's a human being - a man. But you must believe that Jesus was a literal loaf of bread.
Jesus said, "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." If the flesh profits nothing, then eating Jesus' flesh profits nothing. That's what you must believe if you take his words literally.
Jesus said that he was the good shepherd. But there is no record that he ever shepherded sheep. He was a carpenter for all we know. So you must believe that either Jesus was lying or that he was a shepherd during those unrecorded years between Luke 2 and the coming of John the Baptist. But then he wouldn't be a shepherd anymore.
Jesus said that he is the true vine. Therefor, you must believe that Jesus was a plant growing from the ground. But you know that he wasn't. So, why do you not believe your own reason?
How can you deceive yourself thusly? The Early Church did not believe what Catholics now teach. The Catholic leaders are lying to you, as far as I can tell.
      Tertullian wrote:
“Having taken the bread and given it to His disciples, Jesus made it His own body, by saying, ‘This is My body,’ that is, the symbol of My body. There could not have been a symbol, however, unless there was first a true body. An empty thing or phantom is incapable of a symbol. He likewise, when mentioning the cup and making the new covenant to be sealed ‘in His blood,’ affirms the reality of His body. For no blood can belong to a body that is not a body of flesh” (Against Marcion, 4.40)."
      Justin Martyr wrote:
      Dialogue with Trypho, Chapter 70
"Now it is evident, that in this prophecy [allusion is made] to the bread which our Christ gave us to eat, in remembrance of His being made flesh for the sake of His believers, for whom also He suffered; and to the cup which He gave us to drink, in remembrance of His own blood, with giving of thanks."
Didache 9 (on the Eucharist) says nothing about transubstantiation.
      Origen:
"And we have a symbol of gratitude to God in the bread which we call the Eucharist." Against Celsus 8:57
      Eusebius:
      Proof of the Gospel, 7
"This (μνημη is “celebrated on a table by means of the symbols of His Body and His saving Blood (επι τραπεζης δια συμβολων του τε σωματος αυτου και του σωτηριου αιματος).” It fulfils Ps. xxiii. 5. “Thus in our rites we have been taught to offer through our whole lives bloodless and reasonable and acceptable sacrifices through His Supreme High Priest.”"
"(iii) 380 d. - The expressions in Zech. ix. 9 and 15, are allusions to the Eucharist, and point to the joy given by the mystic wine, and the glory and purity of the mystic food. “For He delivered the symbols (συμβολα) of His divine dispensation to his disciples, bidding them make the image of His own Body (την εικονα του ιδιου σωματος ποιεσθαι).” Rejecting the Mosaic sacrifices, He delivered them bread to use as a symbol of His Body (αρτω χρησθαι συμβολω του ιδιου σωματος).
This further illustrates the use of συμβολον.
We gather from these passages: - (i) That the Mosaic Sacrifice, the Sacrifice on the Cross, and the Eucharistic Sacrifice are intimately related. The latter is a Memorial of the Sacrifice of the Cross in a far higher sense than the Jewish sacrifices were foreshadowings uf it. They were but symbols that were unreal, the Eucharist is a symbol but it “embraces reality,” i.e. it includes what it represents. It is the archetype of which they were symbols."
      There are many others.
Now, Ignatius (or Ireneus?) did make statements that sound like Catholic doctrine. But with so many other witnesses quoted above (and there are others), one can either interpret Ignatius as speaking symbolically as Jesus did, or one can think Ignatius took a different view from others. That's your choice. But since you have no biblical warrant to do so, then you are acting like the Pharisees did with the Old Testament.
You need to read Hebrews 10. The author of Hebrews says, "But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified."
Therefor, the Sacrifice of the Mass is heresy.

It was written in Greek. No one would use an Aramaic translation.
Granted, I know why you would like the Aramaic to be used. This is because “rock” in the Greek is feminine, and cannot refer directly to Peter, a male. But it most definitely refers to that which Peter demonstrated, his faith, which is feminine. (Aramaic doesn’t have this problem.) But since Matthew was originally written in Greek, that makes it the authoritative text.

Let me mention the fact that a woman in the Revelation of Christ, represents a church; and in this case that church is the Catholic one (specifically the Vatican headquarters, where her ruling figures of authority reside). Mystery Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth. That is why she hates the Bible in it's purest form. It points her out as plain as day. They claim their authority is above that of the Bible; But the Bible says, "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." I'm Protestant. Catholic and Protestant relationships were not great back in the 19th century. But many things have changed since then. The Holy Spirit leads us to unite - not dividing more and more. The Catholic Church has seen many reforms and had some serious changes. Francis is doing a great job leading the Church back to synodal leadership like the Orthodox and the early church had. Vatican 2 was a watershed moment and Francis is currently looking at a "new expression" of papal primacy.
Regarding faith alone - the Regensburg Colloquy proves that justification can be resolved. This was kind of achieved in the Catholic-Lutheran Joint Declaration of Justification.
