Are we supposed be believe this was filmed in 1960,or am I missing something? It’s still pretty good.

8:56 they hammer the big bearing - we used to heat them first so they just slid on!
Someone needs to teach these guys about thermal expansions and cooling!

For those who don't know that's a flying shear for a hot steel rolling mill that gear is almost never in continuous motion, putting a paper gasket on a bearing block is madness though

My respect for those hard workers, without the tools we use in different Country, the only thing I can't believing they do not use any safety gear, like hard hats, safety glasses, boots with steel toes. Guys wear safety gear in that gearbox Factory.

I don't understand the "great work" comments I see on these type of videos. This is a field repair not a precision rebuild. Will it function? Yes. I cannot understand why these people all work in such filthy conditions. It does not cost to clean up the junk and work area.

Heavy duty but crudely built, there has to be a ton of stress on that cast gear with the shaft driven like that. No doubt this shop was the low bidder for that steel bar cutter.

More slobbering, why don't you guys that are supposed to be engineers try to make where you work a bit more user friendly, clear the rubbish from the floor, everything you leave down picks up the dirt and transfers it to what you are working on, why can't ye make up a frame for a hydraulic press, it maybe that whoever owns the business is doing the work for nothing and it's a charity shop?, if so I will donate a broom so ye can sweep the floor.
