Making Accordion Folds

Being able to make accurate accordion folds is like having a super power. Once you know how to do this you will wonder why it took you so long to learn this. Seems like a skill everyone should have. Once you master folding accordions you will be able to use your skill on many sizes of papers.

Okay, now I feel equipped to tackle your “Fireworks” tutorial. I love your refinements here. I always bring folded edge to folded edge whenever I do accordions, but often the selvedges start to wander. ...thank you for the new superpower!

Thanks for the help! My daughter's Halloween costume involves a pretend accordion, so I figured I'd make her one on my own! (Our family gets started on Halloween costumes early)

Great tutorial! Is there a formula on how wide paper needs to make a certain number of folds?

So much depends on how wide you want the flat surfaces to be. Sometimes I like by accordions to be something like 4 inches wide, other times I want them really narrow. Best thing is just to try lots of widths and see what you like.
