I was so excited when I started a new game today and saw the fishing feature. Because I assumed like a lot fantasy games where you can fish, you can pull up more than just fish.
Shortly after upgrading to the Anniversary edition and figuring out how to fish after crafting a rod myself, I fished out the ring of the wind either on my first or second fishing spot. That thing has been on my hand ever since
I honestly thought fishing was broken because you can literally swim and just catch fish, but I guess fishing is different to that. But that's honestly so cool

Vampiric ring is dope, it's a good way to give your companion a light weight ranged attack without having to smith up and have them carry heavy bows & various arrows & staffs. No need to refuel it with soul gems, either. I'm sure if the companion also had the Visage of Mzund they'd become a pretty formidable 'Mage Knight'
The only problem is that the vampiric drain spell is so weak that it basically is not doing any damage at all. Also, the amount of life you gain back per second is lower than the weakest creature in the entire games damage per second so it's also not useful for healing
You should also say that the ancient nord mace/warhammer/dagger can spawn equipped by draugrs in standard and honed version, and the standard version can be used to craft nord hero version.
I wonder where the nordic warhammer and mace came from. Saw it a lot in the barrows but now I'm going to have to go fishing. It was so nice to see some stoneplate rings and not the typical bands. Shame there are only 2 necklaces and no circlets but it seems theres more to fishing then dangling a rod in the water.
I'm very surprised! I didn't know that fihing mod includes all this content! Thanks to show it. Actually I don't play Skyrim due to 0kb glitch first, and now because all changes from Anniversary edition killed all my beloved mods -_-
I love they added more into the game I have yet to play the new stuff but I feel there's potentially more to come until 6 gets released I don't see why not be nice if they added some more in the way of flying birds hawk eggs are the hardest thing to get alchemy wise void, fire, and frost being there too other than buying I use to think salmon roe was hard to get until I figured out some salmon can be killed and grabbed and it actually gives salmon roe. You do this by using fireball spells or unrelenting force on them especially in the lake with the lady stone and a couple other places this also kills any other fish and dragonflys I'm sure this fishing update might fix that or give more in the way of getting alchemy ingredients from fish easier but idk I haven't played the update but I will say salmon roe is stupid OP broken for potions I've tried other ingredients but roe gives a massive boost for increasing Magicka like a 150% increase over the other ingredients that do exactly the same effect but roe just does better even without perks exploits or enchanted gear
I thought this quest was kinda meh while i was doing it, the bonus gear has made me change my mind. i had only done a few of the quests for full disclosure, I was also surprised this is where the other ancient nordic weapons came from. Thank you for the info, it was very informative
Cool video! I wanted to say that you can in fact find at least two of the random rings in one session at one place. Long after I quit catching fish and was basically wasting time, I gave myself 5 more minutes before moving on and I found the Ring of The Wind , so I decided to stay 5 more minutes and withing a minute or two, I caught Denstagmer's Ring as well! Needless to say, I threw out my time limit, but I didn't catch any more unique things there. I was fishing on the north shore of the lake near GoldenGlow Estates, but that probably means nothing.
Great upload, very informative. The fun part of this is at the end when you start looking for the 5 rings and all the armor, weapons and misc junk you fish out which I sold most of it.
Can I just say that regardless of the occasional tongue-twister, that you've got a very coherent speech pattern? So many people who try to make guides and walkthrough either sounds very uncharismatic or they try talking too fast, butchering linguistics in the process. Now I haven't gotten very far in the Fishing quests yet, but thanks for this guide and looking forward to a ring that gives me movement speed. YAY.

I was fishing at a spot that was giving a lot of dwarven scrap after the fish were gone, using a standard pole and found the mentor's ring. Didn't even know about it so I looked up this video. Very helpful. 😐
You can get the rings by fishing in the same spot. There is no loot lock. Even on switch. Make sure you use the dwarven fishing rod to get any rings you havent gotten yet, it will speed up the gathering of said rings.
It's not a typo. It's meant to be pronounced "Alikiri" (of or pertaining to the Alik'r) just like Akaviri, which would refer to something of the Akavir people.
I never bothered with the fishing in anniversary, but now that I know about the Warlock's Ring and Kynareth's own Ring of the Wind I had a thought. If they ever add an Eleidon's Ward ccreation (and if I find a good 1-handed Skull-Crusher reskin mod) I'll be able to recreate my old Morrowind loadout almost exactly: Lord's Mail, Fists of Randagulf, Helm of Oreyn Bearclaw, those two rings (though only one at a time in Skyrim), the Necromancer's Amulet (disappointing though the Skyrim version might be), the hammer, the shield, and the Boots of Blinding Speed
I have a bug with one of the miscellaneous fish quests; Obtain a goldfish for Mila, who is Carlotta Valentina's daughter. I got the fish for her and gave it to her, where upon i got another quest objective which is to follow Mila to make sure she takes care of it (or something). But both Mila and Carlotta are frozen in place behind Carlotta's stall (where I gave it to her) - they can be talked to and held a conversation with as far as it is possible, but neither Mila nor Carlotta will go about their daily routine. Since the update basically just dropped i have found no way to fix this; fast traveling, leaving and coming back, waiting, interacting, trying to push them out of place - nothing is working! I've been ignoring the issue a little bit and just kept playing, not realizing the issue until later when there was already too much progress lost by reloading a save from before giving it to her. I don't know what to do. If anybody knows anything that might help, please tell me :( UPDATE: i found the quest ID online and was able to do consol commands to mark the quest as finished and can now move on with other quests
I got the Ring of Phynaster and the Ring of the Wind from the lake near Falkreath. I looped around the lake multiple times trying to get an Ancient Nordic Dagger, cause it seems that fishing is the only way to get that weapon. During my loop around the lake, I fished up the two rings.
@Caedo Genesis There is a fishing mod that lets you fish anywhere there is water and not need to find a fishing bait location. It's called L.V.X Magick's - Fish Anywhere (Skyrim AE). It's for XBox and PC.
The vampire ring plus the spell that's basically a Full Metal Alchemist reference can allow you to up two spell classes at once for a more prolonged period, if you also use a restore spell on yourself.
My first time doing the warlock quest I fished up his ring along with all the others within 10 minutes at that spot. I've retired it recently with a new character but I wasn't so lucky that time.
The Ring of the Wind is really nice. Being a Vampire Lord with the necromancer perk, the speed bonus is increased from 15 % to 18 %. I have crated a Fortify Illusion potion with 122 %. Ingesting this before wearing the ring boosts the speed to 47 %, almost 50 %. With this you can outrun almost everything and with the Survival Mode, where you can't fast travel, it's really helpful, reducing travel time significantly. But be warned, using a supercharged Fortify Illusion potion, will boost you to almost infinite speed, which will result in some funny effects. You will be able to pass all boundaries, basically breaking the game mechanics. But it's practically unusable, as you won't be able to control your movement any more 🙂.
Little late to the party but I caught ring of wind and mentors ring back to back right next to the guardian stones. Was my 3rd or 4th cast after the fish had stopped biting I believe.
I wish there was a way for us to display our rings. For example you know that gauntlet for the quest under the college of winterhold that has you put rings on it. Why isn’t there one in the trophy room of our house to put our unique rings on?
I can confirm that on Xbox one at least I fished off the pier in the lake with the lady stone in it and got two rings in the same fishing trip. I just fished until there wasn't anymore fish and let rng work its magic while I played on my phone.
I was able to get multiple rings in one spot, twice in like 3 or 4 subsequent casts in the morning in the first spot I found, south of Riverwood. I found the wind ring, rainstorm (Kynareth), Phynaster, and I think the Mentor's Ring there. All with the normal rod, either at dawn or dusk. I assume finding them is random.
Giving a pair of goldfish to Mila Valentia is the most wholesome moment for me in this questline. Here's a tip for finding goldfish, go to Stony Creek Cave. The pond that leads to the entrance has bunch of them goldfish.
I always bring Faendal with me. I gave him some upgraded and enchanted ebony armor with a kickass bow and a ring that improves bow damage by 22%. Dude just stays out of my way and snipes people, its great lol
Well, now ya gone and done it. Gave me another reason to sink how many hours into this game to fulfill my completionist tendencies. I hope you’re happy.
I never realized that there was an entire quest chain for fishing. I barely even touched it except when I needed some salmon for survival. I’m gonna try this
the warlocks ring and the 2nd amulet are the only ones i use i fished out the fishing rin early on and used thats to help with quests have not fished up any of the other ones yet they dont seem very useful at mid to higher lvls
For those unaware, you can absolutely get more than 2 rings from one spot. I got 4 from one spot and I'm currently fishing for the 5th(and of course it's the main one i wanted that I'm getting last) In-between the first two i caught and the next two, i did and up waiting to reset my fishing spot because it seemed like i wasn't getting anything for ages. So it's possible you may only be able to get two rings per "session", if you will.
So, maybe Bethesda added this in a patch, or maybe someone already commented this, but you can keep fishing after no more ripples show up. It just pulls from the rng items you can fish up. I spent 5 hours just watching Jontron and fishing in the area next to the guardian stones and, eventually, got all 5 rings at lvl 1 along with various misc items, weapons, and armor, some of them were even enchanted.
Fun fact if you consume a fortify illusion potion it will boost the effect of the ring of the win which as long as you don't unequip it will be permanent.
Warlock's ring has become a must have when you're running two-handed, the chore it was to dodge enemy mages and their spells and trying to close distance, especially high-level mages that would one shot you, now you atleast have means to block them, also cool design
Today I discovered the existence of the last 5 rings because I catched 2 of them in the same spot and in less than 2 minutes in Riften; I was just doing a quest to clean the waters and they showed up, now after watching this video I realize how lucky I was to catch 2 of them so fast
I already fished 2 unique rings in the same spot.. just started the game and was fishing on the fish spot next to the 3 stones just before riverwood.. insane lucky lol
I didn't even know there were uniques added by fishing until I gave it a try and found a Ring of the Wind. As a survival character it's such a game-changer getting loot just for fishing while on the way to my next destination
@@brandonhunter7868 I got my first one before I ever went to Riften to start the fishing quests. You have a better chance of catching uniques if you fish a spot until it runs out of fish and then keep fishing for junk items
as far as "favorite (non-fish) Catches" go, i caught a RingOfWind on my first Survival-Savefile, and immediately knew that i wasnt going to Sell it like the rest of my loot...but sadly, because i had built the "wrong part" on one of my Houses, i had to Reload to an earlier point, to before i caught the Ring...so in a way, thats the item that is both my Most Enjoyed, as well as my Most Wanted, because the removal of FastTravel in Survival Mode really sucks sometimes lol (at least until you get the BendWill Shout, from the Solstheim/Miraak quests...then you can just find a dragon to hop onto; Riding a Dragon is the only 'player state' that allows FastTravel, but not to the Interiors of walled cities like Whiterun or to Separate Maps like Solstheim)
For the ancient nordic new weapons like the Warhammer, draugr will use these if a high enough level like 20 or 30 so you don't need to fishing for these if you don't want to.

I really lovehow unique these are and add a bit of flavor to your fingers, it would be great to disenchant them and slightly buff them with high skill
there is a Disenchant anything mod you can try with these. Have not used it on them myself, but worth a look.
Me doing the fortify restoration loop
“Yeah, slightly buff..”
@@thierpetersen7907 i was planning to buff the Movespeed ring with the CC Boots of blinding speed to make a speedster haha
Thanks muchly for this! I’m about half way through this quest and am really enjoying the fishing. I like having an excuse to stand and stare at the beautiful environment!
Thank-you for this. Now that I know the ring of Khajiit exists in Skyrim, my Mephala and Meridia builds are gonna need an update.
@@The_Panda62 It increases your movement speed by 10% and allows you to cast the Illusion spell Hide (which is basically a novice invisibility spell).
I gave Marcurio the Vampiric Ring but got annoyed when he seemed to only use drain life. So I gave him the Mentor's Ring instead. He still sometimes casts Drain Life, tho. So I think it became a permanent spell for him.
I was so excited when I started a new game today and saw the fishing feature. Because I assumed like a lot fantasy games where you can fish, you can pull up more than just fish.
As a person with thousands of hours in Morrowind.
I really like that they add in tons of artifacts from Morrowind through mods.
thank you for the sunfish tip. "Been hunt'n and fish'n these parts for years" without finding them anywhere.
Yeah i was impressed. I thought it was just a stupid fishing rod addition for "immersion" on my way to get actual loot and do quests.
Having a questline and unique quest rewards is a completely different ballgame
@@Carnage7209 I honestly think it's broken, swimming and catching them is extremely easy, I haven't found a fishing rod yet, but when I see a lake I just swim in it and catch the fish that way, would be nice if I could find the hidden loot that way but I'm pretty sure it's only fish you can get while swimming, so I'm not sure if it is entirely broken RN or not, seems like it is if the fish is the most valuable items
What a grand and intoxicating innocence, of course, you can lie to a farm tool, you can do whatever you want with a farm tool.
This guide has made me want to complete the fishing
The Fang of Haynekhtnamet is from Morrowind, like most other of these artifacts.
That extra movement speed plus ward spell seems clutch for my warrior build!
I was fishing on the north shore of the lake near GoldenGlow Estates, but that probably means nothing.
the ring of Khajiit! that was a daedric relic back in TES 4 Oblivion! I must get it secured....
Great upload, very informative. The fun part of this is at the end when you start looking for the 5 rings and all the armor, weapons and misc junk you fish out which I sold most of it.
Can I just say that regardless of the occasional tongue-twister, that you've got a very coherent speech pattern?
So many people who try to make guides and walkthrough either sounds very uncharismatic or they try talking too fast,
butchering linguistics in the process.
Now I haven't gotten very far in the Fishing quests yet, but thanks for this guide and looking forward to a ring that gives me movement speed. YAY.
I just wanted to give praise for doing these videos ~ been trying to find what the new contents are but to no luck~ did research and landed here so...thank you for your work and time 🙏🙃
I would honestly wear all these rings irl. They look absolutely amazing
Good to see you back! Welcome back to the forefront. Good to see you return to form.
Somebody needs to test if warlock ring stacks with spellbreaker
It does create a second ward. When you finish blocking, you will notice that 2 wards deactivate with a short delay
I haven't seen the Ancient Nord Dagger. I've only found maces and warhammers.
I found 2
I got the one from the fishing quest and never fished up another one.
Got a few warhammers tho.
There's a mod to wear two rings.😊
They REALLY bring back Ring of Khajiit from Oblivion!
5:27 Lydia shooting the bear at point-blank fucking killed me.
If anybody knows anything that might help, please tell me :(
UPDATE: i found the quest ID online and was able to do consol commands to mark the quest as finished and can now move on with other quests
Read my comment above
Carlotta is the only one dead in Whiterun for me, I swear her coffin yesterday lol
Wow I totally bumped off fishing because it was horrible for the most this makes me want to try it more now
My first time doing the warlock quest I fished up his ring along with all the others within 10 minutes at that spot. I've retired it recently with a new character but I wasn't so lucky that time.
These are way better than I thought before we clicked on the video.
Drain life paired with Equilibrium can be useful. Normally you would have to be a vampire which I don't prefer because of the side effects.
Finding this video 2 years later since I just started playing Skyrim again on my switch I’m now starting a fisherman play through
The Ring of Phynaster! Without having played Morrowind for a long time, I still remember where to find it, so cool its in Skyrim now! ^^
Great vid caedo! You have the best Bethesda guides around
I just fished until there wasn't anymore fish and let rng work its magic while I played on my phone.
same but i think i was in elsewhere. i got 2 in a row.
I'm already envisioning a cool two-handed spellsword character with the warlock's ring and the bloodskall blade
I always bring Faendal with me. I gave him some upgraded and enchanted ebony armor with a kickass bow and a ring that improves bow damage by 22%. Dude just stays out of my way and snipes people, its great lol
Ring of Khajiit looks like a ring from M'rissi Tail of Troubles. Just different colour of the stone.
i remember that mod. :D
Speed increase seem cool. Ring of Khajiit would be cool with an additional effect like: Doubles your chance of getting addicted to Skooma.
Well, now ya gone and done it. Gave me another reason to sink how many hours into this game to fulfill my completionist tendencies. I hope you’re happy.
Big Fish, Little Fish, Cardboard Box
I never realized that there was an entire quest chain for fishing. I barely even touched it except when I needed some salmon for survival. I’m gonna try this
I never been this early for one of your videos CG.
Frl 33 mins usually like 5 years behind haha
the warlocks ring and the 2nd amulet are the only ones i use i fished out the fishing rin early on and used thats to help with quests have not fished up any of the other ones yet they dont seem very useful at mid to higher lvls
For those unaware, you can absolutely get more than 2 rings from one spot. I got 4 from one spot and I'm currently fishing for the 5th(and of course it's the main one i wanted that I'm getting last)
In-between the first two i caught and the next two, i did and up waiting to reset my fishing spot because it seemed like i wasn't getting anything for ages.
I love that, “go find these three bottles of booze I dropped in a river and I’ll give you this daedric artifact”
You can wear multiple rings. There's the jail exploit that lets you wear as much gear as you want and there's also mods for equipping multiple rings.
For sure, I was so stoked after I realized the utility of that one! One handed with Windshear for example...
@@CaedoGenesis literally a turtle playstyle, but without the Shell, love it
Today I discovered the existence of the last 5 rings because I catched 2 of them in the same spot and in less than 2 minutes in Riften; I was just doing a quest to clean the waters and they showed up, now after watching this video I realize how lucky I was to catch 2 of them so fast
I wonder if you van get the random rings right at the start of the game? Like in Riverwood?
@@brandonhunter7868 I got my first one before I ever went to Riften to start the fishing quests. You have a better chance of catching uniques if you fish a spot until it runs out of fish and then keep fishing for junk items
Good to know. I've completed neglected fishing because I didn't know you could get cool stuff
as far as "favorite (non-fish) Catches" go, i caught a RingOfWind on my first Survival-Savefile, and immediately knew that i wasnt going to Sell it like the rest of my loot...but sadly, because i had built the "wrong part" on one of my Houses, i had to Reload to an earlier point, to before i caught the Ring...so in a way, thats the item that is both my Most Enjoyed, as well as my Most Wanted, because the removal of FastTravel in Survival Mode really sucks sometimes lol
(at least until you get the BendWill Shout, from the Solstheim/Miraak quests...then you can just find a dragon to hop onto; Riding a Dragon is the only 'player state' that allows FastTravel, but not to the Interiors of walled cities like Whiterun or to Separate Maps like Solstheim)
for storm fishing storm call works so you don`t have to wait
The fang of Heynekhtamet is the carved fang of a Wamasu in ESO from Black Marsh
I found those nordic warhammers and maces on the drougar enemies, so those aren’t in chests or fishing only
For the ancient nordic new weapons like the Warhammer, draugr will use these if a high enough level like 20 or 30 so you don't need to fishing for these if you don't want to.
