I worked at this newspaper for about 25 years. When I started it was a very viable newspaper. After the abrupt sale of the paper by the feuding Chandler heirs to the Tribune company, thst became the start of its demise. One of the biggest mistakes made was outsourcing customer service to the Philippines. That helped start the erosion of the customer base. Then the shady sales practices of creating bogus subscriber accounts by third party vendors was another black eye to the paper. But the constant removal of popular sections of the paper and changing editorial content along with rising prices for delivery just about killed what was left. Plus the Tribune was a very mismanaged company that had no business trying to run multiple newspapers across the country at one time. The Times needs to be permanently put put of its misery because that ship has already sunk!
