Very helpful. I replaced my starter this morning and it only took a few hours thanks to this video. Remember both negative and positive wires positioned at 3:00 o'clock... It took me an extra 30 minutes because I did not read John's comments below.
This comment really help me. Tried to get the starter on for two hours stop watched a couple videos and read some comments and was able to get it on thanks
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS. I am replacing my starter tomorrow and this video is a major help. Please sir, take the time to video your work, its so helpful to the rest of us. God bless you sir. Happy Easter.
One thing I learned about doing this job is that if you do not put on the battery lead correctly you will never get the starter back in. The lead wire needs to be in the 3 o'clock position when looking up at the starter otherwise it hits the bracket for the motor mount.
You sir just earned another subscriber. Thank you for taking all the guess work out and showing what seems to be the easiest way to do it. One thousand thumbs up from me.
I was wondering where the starter was on my 2013 GL450 and have heard nightmare stories about whether the starter was located under the intake manifold? I am not doing the work myself but it is good to know what is involved.
If your looks the same as the car in the picture and it's not the next model then no the starter its in the same location I'm doing this one on , passenger side under the exhaust manifold
This Gl450 I need a starter this car keeps me on the shop 3 times a year it’s just went out on me yesterday and AAA hit against it and it started but I know I need to replace it and I hope I can get around this weekend trying to find a shop
Yes if it was feeling like a low battery starting , then the starter was going bad for a good wild, just that most people think it's the battery they replace it and still the same then out of no where the starter its done, but yes lol I keep putting more time and money on that car then i really needed to, that it's why I sold it lol
Yes most likely, if you got a new battery and it doesn't crank over just make sure you don't have any security anti theft light on the dash then I'll say starter.
Hello yes after reinstalling the wires with selinoid facing up & wires facing the front of the engine ,just push it towards the the front of engine then towards the transmission it should just go back in place, make sure the selinoid shield its not backwards if it is that maybe your problem why doesn't go in.
@@kennyadriankc OK, with the selinoid facing up and the wires facing engine, should the starter push in with bolt hole already aligned or will I need to twist. Also when properly inserted does the selinoid face transmission or passenger door. Thanks for all your help.

is this the same process for a 2008 gl320 diesel with om642 engine?
I wanna say no, but if you see the starter in the same position like this one , then there is a big chance it will be the same process
How does the starter and solenoid have to be oriented before I figure out what 3oclock is for the cables?

Excellent job!!!!❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much 😀
Would I have a bad starter if I replaced the battery and there is no crank?
Yes most likely, if you got a new battery and it doesn't crank over just make sure you don't have any security anti theft light on the dash then I'll say starter.
Thank you.
Are these the same instructions for the 2013 gl450?
Hello im not 100% sure but it should be very similar if not the same , try to find where the starter is located if it looks similar it will work
Thankkkk youuuuuu soooo much!!!!!!! Needed this!!!!!!!!!
Very welcome
i would work on my starter next week. If i face any problem i hope i can msg for help here.
Yes not a problem
I'm gonna be doing mines today on an R350 Benz 2008. Will it be the same process? Thanks man good work
Yes with the v8 & all wheel drive should be the same
Wasnt the problem so back to the sesrch
If you are getting slow cranking even with a new start not rebuild one , new bosh, then you have to have a bad battery
I also bout a new battery
Let me ask is it slow cranking your problem or no cranking at all
Game changer video thank you
I'm glad I could help out, thank you.
