what are these guys smoking? I have been using Siri since it came out. Year after year, she's been getting worse and worse. Apple should roll back all their research by 5 years and reinstate the original siri AI engine. Apple is beautiful with their hardware execution, but they cannot seem to retain good software people.
Apple's growth strategy is stealing others tech. They can't steal AI tech, so they are trying to acquire small companies. But their integrations team is so far behind, it's almost irrelevant. Apple is a design firm that steals tech companies ideas/hardware. Nothing more.
I recently sold some of my Nvidia stocks to secure profits, but I'm retaining a portion for the long term, its growth potential is robust. I'm also considering diversifying my $400K stock portfolio, but I'm uncertain about managing risks in my next move.
Working with a financial advisor has been a game-changer for me. They provided invaluable insights and tailored strategies that aligned perfectly with my risk tolerance and financial objectives. With their support, I've seen significant growth in my investments and gained confidence in my financial future.
They’ll be just fine. I am sure Tim Cook & co aren’t sitting around Apple Park fretting that they can’t come up with a new product that will be innovative using artificial intelligence lol They’ve always been the company to sit in the background while everyone else races to be first, then work out the issues on technology that’s been introduced prematurely and do it better themselves.
And that is the cheapest way to do it actually since you are not spending as much on the R&D. Once they have the technology at their disposal then they start fine-tuning it for their product. The days of apple innovating things are over. They just think about how they can make the most amount of profit
@@f.iph7291 Actually, it’s not necessarily cheaper as you do have to develop independently. You also loose a lot of that early revenue that you’d usually get.
They always come second, it's like waiting for other's mistake or shortfalls then capitalize on their mistakes. I don't think that's genius, starting or inventing from scratch that's what defines genius.
That strategy may not work out as well with AI as it has for them in the past. If progress slows down they may be ok but that seems unlikely. The fact they voice to text seems like it has gotten worse doesn't have me too hopeful. It sometimes doesn't even capitalize the first letter of a sentence. Double taping space often doesn't give a period. Even copy/paste is still horribly inconsistent.
Honestly the best use of AI in Apple for me has been the ability to search photos and videos for specific text or content on my iPhone. As someone who doesn't organize their photos app it's really been a godsend for me ngl and something like that on windows would be crazy
I swear these apple bootlickers are so shameful mentioning 10 year old technology as revolutionary, apple's marketing strategies are genius keeping their fans dumb and loyal
Apples advantage is that they have an ecosystem that allows the AI to actually do something. Almost all the base software you use on iOS and Mac is from Apple. Combine that through an AI (as Siri already does to some extent) and you get actual added value instead of a talkbot.
The ecosystem, omg it's smaller and mote restrictive than other options out there. It's hard to look outside the iChurch as times but maybe watch some videos comparing
Ridiculous! They are YEARS behind in almost ALL “AI” They cannot even make a decent calculator app for the iPad… Even a decent modern interface GuI is too much to ask, we are YEARS stuck with the same dull interface and with Siri behind all others in any level…
Good review but the annoying (so called) music is very distracting. It's hard to hear what is being said and we're listening on a hi-end stereo so I can't imagine what it would be like on lesser sound systems!
Apple has said over and over that ML (otherwise known as AI elsewhere) is woven into their apps. The camera has been doing so for years and is getting better over time. It’s in the AirPods. It’s embedded in the Apple silicon (the neutral engine that’s getting a bigger and bigger chunk of the transistors on race generation of chips) where they are running more and more of their ML stuff. I am intrigued by what they have done so far and look forward to how they continue to weave it throughout the operating system and applications. A true assistant is being born.
The AI media is referring to is Generative AI which Apple currently has no partners in or their own models that are out in the public. Apple has had a chance to lead with Siri but it’s fumbled even that. ML has been around for decades and is not the cutting edge neither is DL which has become well known since 2012.
LOL...The "Dark house" is that Apple is in talks with Google about licensing Gemini AI for the iPhone. Apple is far behind in the game of AI that the only way to catch up would be to spring board off Gemini.
@@freddyromariovasquezcairo2250 the whole thing about because they are late to the game is a big lie As the homepod is an example why is not taking over Google assistant and other things Foldable phones where is apple Apple if you look up wwdc at the developers conference they have done nothing substantial to there operating systems in years and let the ai Revolution past them by There software used to be the best and now it is lagging behind Microsoft They have been stagnant with the iPad as people have been asking for years to run Mac os on it and apple has ignored them As with the whole right to repair movement , apples devices you can't upgrade them at all Then if China attacks Taiwan it is bye bye tmsc who make apples chips and also the fact that have the 1nm barrier to breach
I think the lack of focus on Siri upgrades and the coming visionOS are signaling that Apple has something big coming to replace Siri. It would seem illogical for them to not as it would seriously impact all sales.
Siri has not been doing fine. It is a complete idiot who cannot perform half the requests you give it. By replace Siri, I mean give it a new brand not change the name which would be unlikely.
The thing is that ChatGPT sometimes brings a lot of wrong information. This is what Apple is trying to avoid. Being linked to a bad AI. which is ridiculous since SIRI is lagging way behind Google assistant.
You already said it. Apple can use the billions and billions of devices' data. Just like you stated, “on-device AI.” Selling point : -Quicker responses -More personal to the user -Privacy in mind -And most importantly, it is cheaper for Apple to do ( no lawsuits) By the way, AI is a buzzword. Apple has been using AI for a very long time now. How do you think your photos come out so crisp and, Apple's personal voice is constructed, and so much more. People buy into the hype, not realizing what they’re sacrificing. Their privacy. This should be called the race to privacy abolishment or Product and customer switcheroo ( the user is the product by way of selling your data to the highest bidder to in return sell the user on more products)
Great segment. You might want to send to the other journalists/anchors as they bash Apple over AI efforts to remind them they have a strategy, it's just not overtly public, nor does it need to be. AI and ML already exist in core OS. Just because they aren't marketed doesn't mean they're not present. Look through their public documentation and research papers. It's all there.
Apple always comes late to the game. They mitigate often the weakness of other companies brand launch and let them go through the heavier refinements, and then they strike.. and they often win.
I bought into Apple stock in 2016. At that time when I was doing research many said Apple had peaked, it couldn't get any bigger etc. Now it's up 650%. I wouldn't bet against a company sitting on so much cash and I think Apple has some way to go before it peaks.
AI is being used in Apple devices and apps for some years already, just like other companies. People are hyped today about the LLMs & generative AI wave, and this is creating a lot of confusion and missunderstanding. Also we know that they are prepared to launch something when they are indeed ready to do so to strive and be the best. So if people are waiting for an Apple proprietary generetive AI system, probably they will have to wait a bit as this is still very new, unstable, and not very clear in terms of use cases.
That's very very true. If we consider all the other applications related to AI and machine learning that are integrated into both their software and hardware it is just as significant as a lot of the other big players. One I am particularly fond of is their computer vision applications which must utilise a a huge amount of machine learning and deep learning based approaches. They'll be more than fine given their usual track record of waiting to see how their competitors stumble so they can come out ahead.
Yeah just like the dynamic bathtub on the s10 plus apple made the hole bigger and upstrucking eye sore right in the the middle of the screen and people love it isheep would be happy with a turd with a apple Logo and be happy
When Stock Market Sleazeball’s act like they understand advanced future technology that has yet to be released I get sick. They don’t know what they’re talking about - just trying to grab attention to non understanding public to get business with their companies.
The discussion on Generative AI monetization is broken. It makes no sense hence Wall Street is lost. Also, not true that they can't develop a better model, Gene.
Local AI on mobile devices won't be anywhere close to cloud models in terms of power and quality. Not in the near future at least. But I'm sure Apple understand that better than CNBC, so the secret strategy must be something else, if it exists.
@@R4dr1arhave you ever run a llm on a local machine? You need a high end pc to even consider it, unless your phone is as powerful as a 4090 you won't be running actual useful llm in your phone anytime soon.
You can run small models locally. An m chip series with a lot of ram can run very high end models. Apple is aiming at quantized small models, like their own Ferret. 1-3b models. They could also launch a Apple TV with a M3 and have a local server running in their eco system in the home.
Apple always lets others run with things first, learn from their experiments, failures and then Bam! This is evident from the mp3 player, tabs, virtual reality
I argue that that's not their area of expertise. The game is totally different. It's large language models. Apple has definitely lagged behind in the AI race because OpenAI's systems are learning at an exponential rate which the data generated at ChatGPT again refining the models more and more. It's not the hardware which is key here it's the data more and more data you gather and collect either through ChatGPT or maybe via their APIs the better will be the model. Apple do have an edge with Apple user's generated data but it still can't overthrow OpenAI just like they didn't even attempted to make a search engine in the past.(Rumours they're trying now)
They haven’t even came out with the virtual reality headset yet… Apple has been running off the fumes of the late Steve Jobs.. They have not really came out with anything inventive in a long time. They are good at marketing hype these days. This was the first year I’ve ever bought an iPhone just to see if the hype was real and I was pretty disappointed… Siri is so far behind what Google has it’s not even funny
@@KevinTheStallion637Siri has been out for years yet I doubt most people use it. Siri serious so frustrating to use that installed Google on the iPhone.
@@ipsb do you even work on AI? Seems you don’t understand the point here. Regardless of the progress on LLMs like chatgpt shitz, what they’re talking about is the monetization of AI through its integration in products and services, and whether people like it or not, apple will have the upper hand on that regard. Apple is great at monetization of technology, so they’re not even required to outperform chatgpt 🤡, they just have to monetize it much better by much better integrating it into their ecosystem .
Three years ago I was reading an article in the Chicago Tribune about one of the Northwestern Professors that was working on a new Siri with Apple. He said it was so human like. He was going to a lecture he had to give in SC and had to change planes in FL. He said before he landed, this new Siri popped up and said, "Your connecting flight has been cancelled but no worries I have you rescheduled on flight abc and you will need to go to gate C." It's been too long ago for me to remember any of the other things but the flight thing blew me away. Do you think Apple is playing possum with this whole AI thing and the appearance they are so far behind? 4o is amazing but can't do what the Siri experimental model was doing. It also makes me wonder if they already are way ahead on this and just trying to slowly put it out there for economic and social reasons? I'm not a conspiracy theorist by any means!
Apple can leverage LLM for better on device search and Siri results. Siri can search for details about things in your photos, or just give you information rather than search the web. The Ai can better catalog your photos and have it all be local. Privacy still has to be first.
@@richardyu5283 Not really. Jobs taught them to copy ideas with attribution. Something they continue to do every day. If you think Steve Jobs was a innovator, take a look at Thoughty2.
@@richardyu5283 Apple became a trillion-dollar company and the most valuable company in the world under Tim Cook not Steve. Put some respect on his name. He also lead with m1... innovation.
And when exactly is that gonna happen given Apple's pacing? Everything in this video are all speculations by so called experts which are all apple fanboys hoping this year apple might pull the trigger on ai 🤡🤡🤡
Just because Apple values their customers privacy doesn't mean it will hinder their A.I. goals. It'll just be anonymized data. That's it. They already collect data, for example an iPhone's GPS when they're on the way somewhere to understand traffic slow downs/standstills. It's just that the user is anonymous. I think it'll be just as good as any other competitor when they get to that point.
Edge AI, on device AI was just presented by Samsung though (17 Jan 24), on their S24 series. I guess is the first consumer smartphone introducing that to the public?
Imagine Apple somehow figures out a way to train the LLM with our own data locally... that would be the new iphone moment. It's eerily suspicious that Apple deliberately avoided the words AI during their M3 reveal where the neuro engine is clearly designed for AI...
@@oldbot64That’s not the point! GPT-4 is good but without a larger context window and the ability to remember things, it can’t be personalized. Which is exactly what you want to happen on your personal phone.
@@DreamOfFlying bro you are talking about optimising an already trained model. While OP is suggesting that Apple will create an LLM that can be further trained on iphone user's data locally. Although the idea is sound, Apple is not a traditional AI company and their work in AI has been limited to self driving cars not LLMs. It takes years of work to create something as good as GPT. Even google, with all their data, when they launched Bard it was not as good as GPT, and since Apple has yet to announce anything related to LLMs, we have to remain skeptical.
@@oldbot64hmmmm so to think AAPL could magically develop their own LLM equal to Goog Bard or MS Chat GPT in a year or two is highly improbable. Makes sense. Is there any other way Siri on steroids can be this amazing AI assistant besides an LLM? Sorry not an AI expert just learning all I can. Thx
Apple's strong point has always been it's ability to sit back and observe what path new technologies take and how they mature. Eventually honing in on their own version learning from other peoples mistakes.
Why is everyone so surprised that Apple doesn't have any AI applications yet? Apple is often cautious with new trends and seems to wait and see. But when they do launch their own product on the market, it is usually of a much higher level in terms of quality and functionality than its competitors. The best example of this is probably the Apple Watch, with which they are now the market leader.
Although not very debated yet, the AI as it is today is not at all "legal", copyright speaking. Companies are scraping the web for all kinds of contents to train their models and that could lead to huge setbacks in the long run if people start suing them. I think Apple likes to be seen as a company that cares about that and is using caution on adopting it.
Apple certainly is the best long-game player. We should not measure Apple's mention of AI in their earnings calls - this only demonstrates weakness. Apple's brand message is Apple, and they will continue to stick to their brand, even after fully leveraging AI. For example - Nike is all about the brand. I don't believe Apple should monetize AI, at least not directly - it should be part of their sophisticated service.
A Siri Ai upgrade, even if it is not fully like the competitors would just be upgrading what they already have while still keeping it secure for consumers.
"edge AI" is a cool term and Apple is certainly in a good position to capitalize on it, but the killer apps so far haven't been on the edge. We can speculate that they are coming, but I would be much more convinced if you showed me what these apps are and how the edge is necessary. It's all speculation in this piece... still, betting against Apple seems like a bad idea. No one knows how the next couple years will play out in AI tech. This piece doesn't say much other than "Apple is well positioned on the edge".
A single chip or multiple chips inside a phone or laptop can do ai computing but won't be enough for complex and hard computation intensive tasks. For basic task it's good. Still the maturity of ai knowledge matters if you are late and fall behind you just cannot reach the players who were first there it takes time to train the ai models. Which is why not all ai bots and image generator are as good as chatgpt or Gemini.
@@klauszinser of course there will be. But they won't be enough to compute so vasat amount of data. They will be used only for basic computation in day to day task. The demand is only going to increase so much that one or few chips won't be enough that's why there is cloud computing.
If a chip is small enough to fit inside the phone, it's also too weak to run very large models. That's why everything is in the cloud, the models usually run on hardware like Nvidia T4, and these are large and expensive. The only way they can make this work is if they are able to get very small models good, and even then they will still be much worse than the ones running in the cloud.
if you watch the apple keynotes you will notice that they never speak of AI. They always talk about machine learning, when they are referring to features commonly known as AI. So I guess the big feature will be exactely that - no need for servers etc, every AI integration will be on your phone and they will continue to brand it as machine learning - since that is closer to the truth and has less "negative" connotations than AI. (fact is: many people outside the tech bubble are sceptical of AI, some are afraid and don't want to bother with it)
apple don't do investor hype. It barely never mentionned VR or AR for year, yet, they were doing research, patent and were getting everything in place to really enter the market and become the gold standart for other to thrive too. It may not be talking about AI, but it been designing it's A chip with a neural engine to do in device AI year before anyone heard about chat gpt. There are does that talk and those that do. So many CEO are now there talking about AI prospect for their business without nothing concrete, and not even 1 job offering on that field. Those ceo 3 years ago were all telling us about how block chain were changing everything and so on.
It seems very unlikely to me that Apple will bring out an "AI iPhone" this year already. I imagine they would need at least another year or two of R&D and other preparations to upgrade their current neural engine to something fast enough and energy efficient enough to be able to run LLM inference at decent speeds and without absolutely killing the battery.
@@josephmessere7617 well Samsung s24 ultra has ai yes, but not an LLM that's running on-device. That's what I was talking about. That requires an amount of computing power that no manufacturer can deliver efficiently yet.
The magnificent 7 also took a magnificent dump in value before their rise. Apple didn't. Short memories. Also, if you start to measure technological leadership in terms of how many times a CEO mentions a tech hype buzzword,.... wow!
First of all, doesn’t even want to be associated with the term AI, rather Machine Learning, & as the name goes, it goes beyond software but hardwares & chips doing something different altogether, hence the Vision Pro.
Apple’s unique blend of technology, ecosystem, and commitment to privacy could be their ace in AI. Apple’s ecosystem - with its interconnected services like iCloud, Apple Music, and the Health app - creates an ideal foundation for deeply integrated AI experiences. For instance, take Steve, a user who journals his daily activities and mood on his iPhone. Apple’s AI, respecting his privacy, could analyze this data on-device to understand his stress patterns. After a challenging day, the AI, noticing his mood log, could suggest a run. During the run, using real-time data from his Apple Watch, the AI could offer personalized encouragement, ‘Your resilience in work projects is just like your strength in these runs, Steve. Keep pushing!’ and even play his favorite uplifting songs from Apple Music. This scenario showcases Apple’s potential to leverage its technology and ecosystem to offer not just privacy-centric AI solutions, but also deeply personalized and meaningful user experiences.
Imagine a scenario where Apple’s AI guides a reflective meditation session: Evening Meditation with Apple’s AI: • Preparation: After a busy day, Steve receives a notification on his iPhone: “Steve, you’ve had a full day. Let’s take some time for a reflective meditation to unwind and process your thoughts.” • Meditation Session Begins: Steve starts the session. The AI, using a calm and soothing voice, guides him: “Find a comfortable seat, Steve. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, and slowly breathe out. Let’s reflect on today.” • Guided Reflection: The AI, drawing upon Steve’s journal entries and mood logs, prompts him: “Think about the moment today you felt most challenged. Acknowledge this feeling. Now, recall a moment of success or happiness. Let that positive feeling grow with each breath.” • Personalized Affirmations: The AI offers personalized affirmations based on Steve’s recent achievements and challenges: “Remember, your creativity is your strength. Each challenge is a step towards growth.” • Session Ends: After the meditation, the AI concludes: “Great job today, Steve. Remember, each day brings new opportunities. Take a moment to appreciate yourself.” In this scenario, Apple’s AI uses insights from Steve’s daily interactions, mood, and journal entries to offer a tailored meditation experience. The AI respects his privacy by processing all data on-device, ensuring a secure and personalized session that not only helps Steve relax but also encourages personal growth and self-reflection.
I disagree, I think their system is getting bloated and less useful, sure more locked in but would it truely be useful having any device try to manage you rather than you manage you and have a system that supports you to take care of you without suggestions unless perhaps you specifically ask for it. I found it’s easier to think about my actions directly rather than through a device. What I would mostly like to see from apple is for the assertiveness in prompts, and my machines trying to get my attention to go away. and being dyslexic, a decent ai driven spell check that actually works properly because my my iPhone still often can’t pickup the word I’m trying to spell too incorrectly for it to make a correct suggestion and then I have to type it into a search engine to pick the word up. A lot of people want to feel self determined and having a computer suggest things you should do just feels wrong to me, again unless you ask it to, because eventually you start ignoring it and it’s then just a bunch of messy stuff to deal with all the time. I spend enough time on devices as it is. I want to still be able to function if I lose contact with a tech companies product, oh I mean my computer. It’s actually counter intuitive. I get that research shows how humans behave psychologically and chemically and how this can kinda be hacked with praise and reward/ support ect but it doesn’t factory that human’s are adaptive enough to actually change and see through the psychology and eventually work around it, like recognising a scam. I think we need to retain our ability to think without an emotional aid on such a crude level where it’s just making as addicted and lazy with our own emotional stability. You have to own that as a human to survive
I can't believe that it's headline-worthy that a company's stock "only" increased by 50% in the past year, and they're "only" a 3 trillion dollar company and their nearly $200 billion in annual profits just isn't cutting it for investors. While 90% of the population can't afford rent. What a dumb world.
Apple doesn't do what others do. That is the difference. And has been for over 25 years since Steve came back. And people are already sensitive to the privacy issues around AI - while Apple has positioned itself as a privacy stalwart. This could give Apple un expected advantage in AI - ironically. Ajax is a Greek mythological hero, the son of King Telamon and Periboea, and the half-brother of Teucer. He plays an important role in the Trojan War, and is portrayed as a towering figure and a warrior of great courage in Homer's Iliad and in the Epic Cycle, a series of epic poems about the Trojan War, being second only to Achilles among Greek heroes of the war. (Wikipedia).
The problem here is that Microsoft was able to push a very successful LLM to market and has found success in marketing and monetizing it to the general public. Everyone else is playing catch up, which is why Microsoft overtook Apple. The problem with Apple right now is that they just don't have anything new to offer while their bread and butter, the iphone is not selling as well as they might hope. Apple is focusing on their new vision pro VR/AR headset, what they call spacial computing. That product is not something investors are particularly impressed by. In an economic crisis, people are not going to spend 3.5k on a toy, which is what the vision pro is. They are also unlikely to make gain in that market, VR has found a niche as an entertainment medium, Apple is not an entertainment company. Sony and Microsoft are the companies positioned to take over that market, not Apple and Meta. Overall, I think Apple stocks were simply overpriced and this is a correction of the markets. Personally, I would buy Apple stocks right now, as they are a decent price.
CNBC Translation:Why Apple could win the next evolution of the Al arms race? Because we love their products which makes us biased 🤦🏽♂️. There's not a single substantial evidence that points to this, so coming up with a report like this is real head scratcher. Apple has never been able to compete in Assistant category with Google....i mean look at Siri or Apple Maps. What makes them being able to compete in a branched tier? Apple are the greatest when it comes to hardware which pulls in a lot of youngsters or people who are already part of their ecosystem, or those who prefer shinny or simplistic. But in terms of Software, they've always been behind.
I’m a big Apple supporter but SIRI is the worst. I would have bought a lot more Apple products if SIRI was good but ended up buying Amazon Alexa for that use. As a stock holder I feel like they really dropped the ball in that area.
People buy benefits not features. I don’t see Apple branding using “Edge AI” as mentioned I’m the video, because the term has mothballed and lost all meaning. Apple sells you on the way their products make you feel, and you’ll be hard pressed to see them stray from that, regardless of what day traders say.
What would be the real benefit of having LLM running locally? If I want to access my LLM work from any device, at least the results need to be synchronized with the cloud anyway. Then I can also run the LLM directly in the cloud and have no disadvantage in terms of energy consumption on my local device.
Great video! It's fascinating to see how Apple is positioning itself in the AI race. While they may have seemed to lag behind last year, this video effectively highlights the potential strengths of Apple in this domain. What's exciting is that the tech world is so unpredictable and dynamic, even the so-called underdogs can spring up surprises. Looking forward to how this plays out and to more insightful content like this. Keep up the good work!
Absolutely! Apple's Metal API and Apple Silicon are Apple's secret arsenal in the AI race. These powerful tools are often overlooked, yet they hold the potential to revolutionize edge AI.
Winning? I don't think so, the other companies have built teams and researches that Apple cannot duplicate overnight. However, they will be a player. I hope they join in soon because we need more innovation in AI. Entropy
Apple winning in AI would be like Toyota winning in EV’s, it’s too late. Apple doesn’t have enough time or compute to catch up. There’s a reason why OpenAI needed to partner with Microsoft, they need the compute.
I show did the math on a Uber eats trip where a lady said she paid $20 for 2 mc chickens to be dropped off 2mi. The delivery only gave the driver $5 which includes the tip
This sounds like classic Apple to me and the issue is basically, a whole bunch of finance bros & boomers (that don't understand tech) inquiring why Apple isn't dropping buzzwords during their earnings calls. Why would you sleep on Apple when time after time, it's taken existing tech, made it their own, added it to their ecosystem, and knock it out the ball park? Why would it be any different now with AI? And yes, what do you think their "Neural Engine" is??
This video offers an intriguing perspective on the AI landscape and Apple's potential role in it. Despite some of the criticisms and obstacles Apple faced last year, it's clear that they could still be a significant player in the AI race. The points made in this video highlight how Apple's innovative approach might just be their ticket to success. Looking forward to seeing how this unfolds, and how Apple might surprise us all in the future. Thanks for the insightful content!
Just because AI is running locally on your device, does not make it more secure. you would still have internet access, right? - love that this even is an argument.....
This video felt a bit speculative. Apple aims on power hardware/software performance experience. AI usage is very heavy on processing for a single smartphone or macbook that has not enough capability to process it in time compared to current cloud based processing nvidia and ms ALREADY strives. In my opinion too: The future of videogames with 5g/6g will be on cloud processing service and not anymore on aquired power hardware consoles to manage in home processing quality content. Our homes will reducing hardwares to screens and speakers and a bit of controlers and devices.. were apple will fit in?
Apple doesn’t mention Ai so that when ai is blamed for bad stuff they are side stepped from it. They do the same with all manner of technology terms. Mkbhd explains it properly.
Apple is always proudly talking about their on-chip neural engine improving every year. It’s for AI. Photos are being recognised for contents, animals, scanned for text etc. In their not so talked about Magnifier app, multi modal like real-time camera feed recognition can be turned on, and it’ll describe what it see with a pretty decent accuracy. For Vision Pro coming out in a few weeks they made a separate chip, R1, for handling lots of video and sensor i/o and analysis, which I assume is heavy AI processing. I think they’re just not liking the term AI, because a lot of people are afraid of it taking over. And letting loose a Siri AI that can potentially say anything, might be cause for caution, to avoid being sued. Apple instead they say Neural Network. As instead of VR, they instead say Spatial Computing. I bet they will come up with another term for their AI, that sounds less artificial and out of your hands, and more friendly and confined. Like.. Neural Processing, or something like that.
yeah that's a possibility however not using the term Artificial intelligence makes them seems as though that they are either behind or not interested and they will lose their following because of it. People wants Artificial Intelligence to make their life easier
inferencing is better done cloud anyway what the point is of on device inferencing if the dataset is not a)local b)private c) retrainable or d) finetunable?
"Apple known for being last but best mover" agree. they don't compete and let anyone rushing everything for being the first. while apple polishing everything before releasing it to the public.
I'm still using samsung, but i'm planning on moving to Apple soon enough. Something that I noticed from apple is that they always invest in long term investments. For instance, their investment on the M1 which boosted their performance. I cam't wait to see what they have in plan for the future.
Does APPL's "LTMS" coming for the phone negate the need to develop an LLM like Chat GPT and Bard to become a ldr in AI? Many think AAPL could never catch up with these two unless they been hiding its development for many years. What do you think? Thx
@@jcd3869 idk, honestly alot is being held tight behind the scenes, but as far as it goes LLMs are where all the money is invested. just because the algorithms are making such strides in the data structures, the mechanistic interpretability is starting to be figured out loosely, The LTMs are just scratching the surface, but they have to recode everything for the operating systems that use them. im more interested in the stuff being done with scent recognition, thats the future, so much possibility's in that field
Saying that Apple is “lagging behind” with AI is like saying they’re lagging behind in the search engine market. They aren’t a LLM company. They don’t and shouldn’t have a dog in this fight.

Apple has no business being in AI as far as public interest goes. Apple as a company has attempted and succeeded in a number of instances in monopolizing aspects of it's industry. A powerful monopolized AI system controlled by a powerful corporate tech company such as Apple would guarantee a stranglehold on nearly everything we do in our day to day and would be even harder to stop or regulate.I find Apple to be the prime example of corporate fascism within the tech industry. AI needs to be transparent to all, owned by none and taught by humans with loving hearts, smart and healthy minds and that value humanitarian pursuits above all. Not human beings filled with greed to meet their own self interest in a grossly unregulated capitalistic society. If anyone finds AI to be frightening, remember that AI is only the reflection of our own frightening selves that taught and built AI. Everyone needs to accept and see their own flaws and shortcomings and find healthy ways of fixing that. Possibly through therapy that works on mental health and emotional wellbeing. Then at that point we may be worthy of training AI. That needs to happen sooner than later for the sake of us all.

I recently sold some of my Nvidia stocks to secure profits, but I'm retaining a portion for the long term, its growth potential is robust. I'm also considering diversifying my $400K stock portfolio, but I'm uncertain about managing risks in my next move.
When diversifying, spread investments across sectors and assets to lower risks. Research and consult a financial advisor for aligned decisions.

Spot on.
And that is the cheapest way to do it actually since you are not spending as much on the R&D. Once they have the technology at their disposal then they start fine-tuning it for their product. Apples advantage is that they have an ecosystem that allows the AI to actually do something. Almost all the base software you use on iOS and Mac is from Apple. Combine that through an AI (as Siri already does to some extent) and you get actual added value instead of a talkbot.
No reason why that wouldn't be possible anywhere else. All you need is an interface per app and you're done.

AI is being used in Apple devices and apps for some years already, just like other companies. Apple can leverage LLM for better on device search and Siri results. Siri can search for details about things in your photos, or just give you information rather than search the web. The Ai can better catalog your photos and have it all be local. Privacy still has to be first.

Not a busines services? A huge chunk of Apple's income is from services. And they are making huge inroads in the corporate space.
Imagine a scenario where Apple’s AI guides a reflective meditation session:
Evening Meditation with Apple’s AI:
• Preparation: After a busy day, Steve receives a notification on his iPhone: “Steve, you’ve had a full day. Let’s take some time for a reflective meditation to unwind and process your thoughts.”
• Meditation Session Begins: Steve starts the session. The AI, using a calm and soothing voice, guides him: “Find a comfortable seat, Steve. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, and slowly breathe out. Let’s reflect on today.”
• Guided Reflection: The AI, drawing upon Steve’s journal entries and mood logs, prompts him: “Think about the moment today you felt most challenged. Acknowledge this feeling. Now, recall a moment of success or happiness. Let that positive feeling grow with each breath.”
• Personalized Affirmations: The AI offers personalized affirmations based on Steve’s recent achievements and challenges: “Remember, your creativity is your strength. Each challenge is a step towards growth.”
• Session Ends: After the meditation, the AI concludes: “Great job today, Steve. Remember, each day brings new opportunities. Take a moment to appreciate yourself.”
In this scenario, Apple’s AI uses insights from Steve’s daily interactions, mood, and journal entries to offer a tailored meditation experience.

As a stock holder I feel like they really dropped the ball in that area.
actually its up to them but they put all the necessary ground work to do just that the vertical integration.
which is this video is all about.
Mainly Privacy. You don't want sensitive data to be sent to the cloud.
@@oldbot64yes privacy id l like to see them trying to run models like gpt4 on the phone ,lol
When Ajax comes how will it affect. Google and Msft and Amzn?
Nvda has completely dominated AI
Background music too annoying.
What % of active Apple devices can participate in on device AI with the silicon already to hand!?
Confused, aren’t Apple chips made by TSCM? They used to be made by Intel, and Samsung, right?
In software and hardware AI Apple can't beat the others competition. It is too late, because this technology change so fast every day.
great video but the background music is annoying
Apple loves to be quiet about their new innovations, they’ve never been one to advertise and promise too early about new products
inferencing is better done cloud anyway what the point is of on device inferencing if the dataset is not a)local b)private c) retrainable or d) finetunable?
"Apple known for being last but best mover" agree. they don't compete and let anyone rushing everything for being the first. while apple polishing everything before releasing it to the public.
I'm still using samsung, but i'm planning on moving to Apple soon enough.
Something that I noticed from apple is that they always invest in long term investments.
For instance, their investment on the M1 which boosted their performance.
I cam't wait to see what they have in plan for the future.
Move when they release an actual product.
@@oldbot64 that's the plan. I'm still on the lookout for something.. "new" from Apple.
ITS NOT CALLED LLMS FOR THE PHONES ITS CALLED LTMS = LARGE TASK MANAGERS, full tasks done, very powerful agents
They don’t and shouldn’t have a dog in this fight.
its all about whats the industry refers to as AMBIANT COMPUTING powered with a LTM large task manager, not just a LLM a LLM cant perform tasks
People have been saying for years that they love Microsoft because of its adaptability. Is that what is finally making an impact?
Google having on-device AI models and features on Google Pixel devices for years is probably making Google furious that these journalists aren't noticing.
@@joewest3901Have you used it before?
About 90% of Google Pixel’s AI features are computed off the device in the cloud. The tensor chip is the weakest in the market. The Magic eraser on iPhone’s Google Photos app is 3x faster than native Pixel device
@@well7885That's not true. The only features that are computed off device on the pixel are video boost and magic editor. The rest are on device.
Also, the magic eraser on pixel 8 pro uses generative AI the ones available for iPhones don't
@@well7885 Assistant Voice typing, Magic Eraser, Unblur, Translate, Voice Recorder and Voice Recorder Summarize, and more are all done on-device really well.
I love Apple just like everyone here but let's not pretend that Apple's the only tech company innovating.
Stop it.
Add computational photography to the list of things Google does better on Pixel than Apple. Thats an AI feature that made pixels better at photography than iPhones. Check MKBHDs blind camera comparison for proof.
Apple has acquired 33 AI companies. Get ready for minds to be blown.
I'll be happy if Apple brings AI to XCode and Final Cut Pro instead of wasting their time on Vision Pro.
“Facism” LOL.
We have a Live one here.
“The silence is deafening.” Apple is not behind. Do y’all know how Tim Cook works?
