The first machine crushes metal waste into cubes, and the second pulls them back apart. Why would you pull them back apart?

the material is easier to handle in certain machines when its seperated such as a furnace to melt , its only bailed or crushed into blocks to make transporting easier and cheaper thy also will be checking the contents to make sure the meterial is what its supossed to be all through the bale not just on the outside

I agree with Joe, one place crushes the scrap to make it easier to transport to the foundry, then the foundry pulls it apart before melting it down.
