Wawasint8da is a Catholic hymn translated from Latin into the Abenaki language by one of the early French Jesuit priests who lived among the Abenaki. It tells the story of Jesus’ Descent into Hell or Hades (also known as ‘The Harrowing of Hell’) to liberate souls who had died outside of the Catholic faith. Ethnologist Gordon Day documented Odanak’s Ambroise O’Bomsawin singing the hymn in the mid-1900s, but it may be as old as the late 1600s.

A lot of work went into this and it’s very well done. Is this really a fire house? It looks just like a church. I’m not sure I get everything about it but I appreciate all the artistry. It’s a long way from the Bluegrass I heard her play in Vermont and that was really good as well.
I don't know what you mean about a fire house. It's the church at Odanak First Nations reserve in Quebec.

Fabulous! Very intense! And funny: I live in a medieval town in Belgium called Liege, and its national anthem (called "Valeureux Liégeois) is almost the same melody.
