@@Doc92IDH the build up, breakdowns, and epic solos was brilliant on many Death Magnetic songs including Suicide and Redemption.

@@MasterRyan97 I couldn't disagree more! 😂 I guess that's the beauty of music.
But for me, Death Magnetic has some of Kirk's worst solos. Everyone goes crazy for Unforgiven 3, but I think it's sloppy, generic, lacking melody and structure (two places where his classic solos shined), the tone's crap and drenched it too much wah even by his standards, and the only decent part of the solo is him repeating the main riff.
I much, much prefer Hardwired. In fact, I prefer Load over DM, and I think it's not close. Songwriting's much better.

@@Doc92IDH Yeah, everyone's opinion is definitely different! I can kinda see how it lacks melody though throughout the songs on DM. But Unforgiven 3 is my fav song from Metallica mainly because of the solo. It always gives me chills! A lot of the songs are like that on this record for me.
Hardwired is good. I feel like the riffs are very melodic in Hardwired, but the solos aren't as memorable to me. I like it though. I think I prefer 72 Seasons over Hardwired honestly. Hardwired has my favorite guitar tone though!
Load is amazing. Always loved that record. Always excited when they play some of the songs from Load/Reload era. The mixing and mastering is probably the best as well. It's very fun to listen to.

What if I told you there are actually two versions of this song...the JH version and the KH version. James and Kirk recorded longer solos, but due to time constraints, they cut them in half and slammed the two sections together. The first part of the solo is the first half + the last lick of James' solo and then it goes into the first half + the last lick of Kirk's solo. The Death Magnetic DLC for Guitar Hero Metallica included the two versions with the full solos intact.

There's actually 2 versions of this song. The other version was released on Guitar Hero Metallica. The other version is considered the James Hetfield version. The one you just played is the Kirk Hammet version. Just an FYI.
