A few years ago, I saw a scam where people can get scammed by calling numbers back. Somehow they were generating revenue from callbacks. Nothing digital is safe anymore.
Credit Karma was TRYING to ruin me with a text... SEVERAL times...I'm about to contact @ScammerPayback in demolishing these VILE criminals!!(Or get details on anti hackers...to hack the accounts of criminals)
Look at police department pages with the "see video update here" type of scams being posted continuously. The vast majority of time Facebook tells me the scam "doesn't go against community standards."
Remember when Facebook users got tired of Facebook and went to other social media? ...and then Facebook purchased that competition? That's not allowed in the "free market" however Lina Khan, who was enforcing anti-trust laws as Chair of the FCC, will soon be replaced by the incoming administration this January, 2025. Khan's very brief tenure was one of Joe's best appointments BUT business will soon rule again.
Phone carriers can easily stop these scams because of the source addresses, content and site signatures. Why don't they? Somewhere there is money involved. Freedom of speech should not be a factor when it comes to fraudulent activity. Why is this allowed to continue? We need to put the pressure on the carriers, even to the point of fines and penalties.
No they can’t - there is NO WAY to determine who is a scammer and who isn’t. Phone numbers are free to get and they can set them up to appear like anything they want. My advice, let calls you are not familiar or uncertain - let it go to voice mail and then contact directly who ever they claim to be. Same goes with text messages. Call the vendor directly and ask if they contacted you. To me this is just common sense.
I got sim hacked 2 times in 10 days. After the first sim swap. I went into the At&T store. I told them to ABSOLUTELY DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES TO MY ACCOUNT UNLESS I WAS IN THE STORE IN PERSON-with identification in hand!!! There are scammers everywhere. They are targeting COINBASE. I almost lost $147,000. Probably within seconds…

Some of these scams are so obvious but they remind me of the old nigerian prince scam. The scam was so ridiculously obvious but once someone responds to the email they know got a sure & easy mark.
