She is spot on about Matthew and his vulnerability. Not immediately but a little while into the film, maybe at the Netherfield ball, without him speaking , just using his body language and eyes averted, I could tell he was socially not sure of himself. This is the point when I recognized people mistaking his shyness or reticence for pride/vanity. Matthew injects this into the character, mostly nonverbally. Lizzie is particularly good at zoning in on that awkwardness, if you will, and pointing it out. Matthew's portrayal of Darcy is more sympathetic and you really feel for him in this version. I thought she was quite mean to him given he is just shy. I didn't get so much of that vulnerability from Colin Firth. I prefer this Darcy. Stellar performance .
I love Mathew's performance too. But Darcy in the book was not really shy or vulnerable. It was hinted many times that he could be quite sociable and talkative in the circles he liked. But he did lose it around Elizabeth. Darcy's fatal flaw WAS pride. And he overcame it. To explain it away as shyness detracts from the redemption arc Austen wrote for him.
@persian pianist seriously have you really read the book??? It was explained/implied in the book that he was extremely shy among strangers but it comes out as pride to people who do not know him.
@@PersianPianist12 pride and shyness were both aspects of his character. He admits to Lizzy he's uncomfortable in speaking to the strangers. His pride is rightly highlighted in the movie, however, that's not all. Pride isn't the ONLY aspect of him. There's more. There's vulnerability and humility. Movie Darcy is all about it.
Matthew is indeed the perfect Mr. Darcey! The BBC series of Pride and Prejudice left me very disappointed with it's choice of characters. At times it was nearly painful to watch, with the exception of Elizabeth. They were incredibly glacial. I absolutely love this movie.
"he's a big bloke!" i love her, she's my favorite actress. it doesn't hurt that i enjoy period pieces the msot, which she does a lot of lol. and i'd kill for those cheekbones :)
I could watch Pride and Prejudice over and over again. :) Keira Knightley played it so amazing, she played Elizabeth in Pirates of the Caribbean so well too, I think she suits characters in that sort of older timeframe SO WELL!!
Whenever someone praises one of my favorite actors, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, lol. So her lavishing praises of that sort on Matthew Macfadyen makes me all squeee! I love that man. Most ardently. I couldn't resist...lol
I am so in love with Keira Knightley's Elizabeth Bennet! It's so bizzare seeing Keira Knightley because though is beautiful and charming and funny, she is NOT Elizabeth Bennet! I _thought_ I was in love with Keira Knightly because she starred in Pride & Prejudice (2005), but I just found out that I was in love with her portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet. I was about to run off and watch the _Imitation Game_ and _Colette_ (her best reviewed movies) expecting to see the Elizabeth Bennet I am so smitten with, and would have been very disappointed. I'll probably still watch them anyway...
Excellent GENUINE REALISTIC BEAUTIFUL " TOUCHING " COMMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ONCE IN A LIFE TIME FACTUAL INSIGHT TO THE " T" WILL LOVE AND CHERISH IT EVER !!!!!!
Her character is closer to mine someTimes I hate myself when I misunderstood the ppl around me but I really have a white heart ♡♡♡♡♡ and I wish the best to my lovers any way I hope that some day I can found my own Mrs Darcy 3:)
Matthew Macfadyen is a so much better actor than Larry Olivier. Knightly is also light years better looking and a better actress than Greer Garson, who turned down the lead in Gone With the Wind, played by Vivian Leigh, later Mrs Olivier. Imagine how much better Keira would have been in Gone With the Wind. They should do a remake also with Matthew Macfadyen. He also is so much better and famous than Clark Gable.
Everyone is beautiful. The ugliest person in the world has some gorgeous feature that makes them attractive. No one person is prettier than the other, though some peoples attractive features are more prominent than others.
Hahahamatthew blow your head away we all now that!!....if wasn't for the fact caleed "keeley hawes " you would catch him for u!!!...lovely but damm who wouldn't try.... Matthew sweet matthew....
oh come on... why so rasist ;p all women are pretty ..some more then the other by y u r disriminating her just because she is jewish? That's not her fault...whatever I think she is awesome ;)

Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, is immortalized by director Joe Wright in this lovely film version of this classic story.

It's difficult to actually stop staring at Keira Knightley.

She was dating Jamie dornan from fifty shades over here.
her accent
I think s9314 is talking about her looking jewish, not her religion. And besides, she's English, Scottish, and Welsh (according to Wikipedia).
I wish to have that kind of accent.
@TheMagdus498 'you pour your own emotions into the book, i mean i certainly did when i read the book'
@pichuap yeah she is
Frankly speaking I m not here for her I m here just to see what did she speak about Matthew. My fav Darcy 💓💓althought she is also great in movie.

Много тут русских которые не чего не понимают, но которым нравится ее голос 🤤🤤
no she said three of the other actors were just nineteen
Beg to differ, many of my friends have a RP accent.
It depends where you go in England. :P
If Matthew and Keira had both been single at the time, they would have been all over each other lol
Yesss...i agree with you..they have the chemistry of love i think..but Matthew had married with Keeley Hawes...so sad..
@@ririambarsari7262 I agree with you!! They could be very nice couple!! 😭
Lol Im english but we never say " Proud to be english..we say Proud to be british "
