It's a pretty good way to get started right away in taking advantage of DCC model railroading. I use an E-Z Command unit on my 11x8 L-shaped HO-scale layout with amp booster, and it works very nicely with my decoder-equipped locomotives (a mix of Bachmann DCC on board and TCS decoders in my fleet). My E-Z Command unit I bought in 2014 came with a decoder-equipped BNSF GP40 locomotive, and it was great for upgrading my existing layout from analog to DCC.

I've purchased three of these sets. The first in 2012 and the last two in 2021. The build quality of the newest sets is not as good as the older set. And one of the newer ddc controllers stopped working just hours after opening the box.

I bought an Bachmann n scale Broadway Limited last Fall and the transformer was dead right out of the box. I bought a Digital Commander set around Christmas time 2013 and let the kids use it (10 & 12). I don’t know if they dropped the F unit or what, but I know that when I pulled it out again to use it in 2014, it didn’t work. I thought I’d try again now that they’re gone and I’m retired. I hope it has long term reliability, but I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews about Bachmann. I appreciate your watching and feedback. Thank you

I bought the same set this month from Amazon. They sent it with the new EZ DCC Command plus. It has a LED scale for speed. What I don’t like is that they don’t have the option to connect a DC controller to it with an interconnect cable.
