I don’t feel that bad for them. I mean, they did work for/support morphe after all the shit that’s come out about them over the past few years. At some point you have to face the consequences for keeping your head in the ground

@@Bjorksbackyard I have a feeling the COVID pandemic is a factor. The lockdowns in China have affected many businesses and exports in China, Morphe must have been affected one way or another, whether it be a rise in transportation costs (including costs to go through customs and sanitizing to meet requirements), or factories requiring more time to produce. Also they associated themselves with so many influencers that have been widely cancelled it affected their image as well, people would just avoid them.
@@PrincessVelaryon I'm 37. My advice to anyone is to get a good skin care routine as young as possible, your future self will thank you for it. I prefer to focus on feeling good and having a glow than make up now. (I still wear some, but really natural)
Quarantine and now the recession were going into because of it. Priorities shift and it was well overdue, influencers are promoting a gross lifestyle and “makeup culture” from the 2010s got way too insane.
Yes, It's a security decision so they can sell the products to get the last money. So the people don't steal it, or the stores are left without employers to sell the products. It's al about the money. No human emotion aloud
They will be eligible for unemployment for a few months at least, maybe they can try applying to stores like mac, ulta, sephora, nyx, etc. since they had a similar nature of job. Could also open other opportunities for them, kind of like a “one door closes, another opens” kind of thing.
Morphe closing their stores the way they did reminds me when I worked at Fredericks of Hollywood. Like them telling their employees, “Oh by the way, you don’t have a job starting today” is actually quite normal. Most companies do that and they do it because they don’t want employees to jump ship, because they need the manpower to sell their stock and then pack up what doesn’t :/ Weeks before Fredrick’s closed, I noticed we stopped getting supplies like trash bags, cleaners, shopping bags etc; and when we requested them we were met with excuses. Then our shipments were getting smaller. Then our stock went on sale, they even changed how our employee discount worked..it was now 40% off every item including clearance! What a bargain, little did we know Fredrick’s was pawning their stock onto us, essentially giving our own paychecks back to them.
I work at one of the biggest TJ Maxx distribution centers. It’s true!! I just worked over 1500+ units (product) from Morphe. It was all lipsticks and plump gloss. Y’all .. I was SHOCKKKKKKED!
i wonder if my store will get any other items ? even before they closed their stores we always had the original M palettes and collab ones w influencers. it’s rare to see lip products / any other products at mine lol
I'm assuming the reason Morphe stores outside the US are still open is that the process of going into administration in countries like the UK is much longer. You can only have mass redundancies after at least 4 weeks of a consultation process with unions, administrators (who can buy the business to save jobs) and the government. In places like the UK, you have to enter into a long process of negotiations. For example, when a large store called Debenhams went bankrupt in the UK, the process of them closing down and being bought by an investor took MONTHS. The whole time, their stores remained open, and their staff were in jobs while they negotiated to settle their debts. You can't just let everyone go without notice like you do in the US. You have to negotiate things like redundancy packages with staff to help with lost pay etc.
Yep. They can't abuse their workers and lie to them in Europe as they can easily do in US, for all its problems Europe has laws that protect workers and all the people that made the business work, you cannot simply get rid of them all with one day's notice. I always feel sorry for american workers, they have pretty much no rights and no respect.
And in truth, the beauty channels tanked for me with the whole James Charles and Tati Westbrook thing. There was sooooo much drama over that. It turned a lot of people off of all of them. As a parent, you start to question what it is you're supporting. You just don't see them as adults, but kids in a school yard and you're busting your ass to pay 100$ for a damn dollar store brush for your kid. They brought wayyyyy too much drama into it. And not the good kind.
Same. It went from fun jabby drama to holy **** these people are heinous. I still love make up and i miss the fun times but now i just get drug store and colourpop lol
Only effect it's had in other countries (speaking as someone from the UK specifically) is there have been secret sales going on in store. I went in the other day and was told the store had 40% off all morphe products because of "things happening in the states".
They did say as far as they're aware that doesn't mean the stores are closing but didn't give another reason. Idk what the cause for the sales are though, I can only speculate.
The laws protecting EU employees are very strict no way they could get away with closing shops with 1 day notice, the pay outs employees could get would be crazy, I'm not aware of any US laws tho, I'm sure they could sue them for not giving any proper notice to find other jobs and loss of income
I feel like Ppl’s interest in beauty gurus has gotten down daily since 2020. I wasn’t wearing much makeup for over a year back then and now I realized as a normal person it makes no sense collecting stuff that will go bad in a year or two, and when I do wear make up I will always go to the one or two that I really love
Tbh I think REM beauty’s problem is most likely the manufacturing or formula of the product bc when you compare ari, Selena, and Rihanna with their own products and what they do while running their makeup lines(music movies etc) there’s no reason why Ariana’s makeup products should be below average. I love her concepts and packaging but I can probably count on one hand how many of her products i actually like
and ariana is such a makeup girl. Selena has never been anyones makeup inspo but her brand is so good lol at least Arianas perfumes are very successful
she could of dominated the market on soley eyeliner considering her decade long signature cat eye. I think she should focus on a good quality and long lasting eyeliner and continue with her already successful fragrance line.
This is just crazy I keep up with Morphe, and when I saw their huge deals, sales, and so on I was just plain excited, but knowing that all of this was behind it - the closing stores, short or even failed notice to their employees, brands, and the general public, the possibility of millions of dollars in loans from huge names from TH-cam or just influences in themselves, and so on - it's just bewildering
this. i went to the vegas morphe store beginning of december and was like “wow like everything is 50% off what a steal!!” and now it makes me nauseous knowing why. i feel terrible for the employees
I feel for the employees too. Always have your resume up to date and interview ready, there is NO job security. Live below your means and have as much money saved as possible. Take care of yourself, folks.
I can confirm the Canadian location in West Edmonton Mall is still open, but the employees said they have not yet been told they are closing or not and were confused. Still FULL priced for the few items left.

Jacklyn i get because her brand suffered A LOT before Forma took over...
I went to my local mall yesterday that has a morphe store and it was fully closed already. The sign was gone. I wasn't expecting it to close so soon. I feel so bad for the workers without notice losing their jobs. I wanted to get a suva beauty liner too when I went hopefully before my local Morphe closed but it closed within a day of the bankruptcy and closing announcement.

Also, does anyone still get emails from them on sales of their products online I still do even though I haven't shopped on their website in years.
They support Manny MUA who was long ago shown to be a social climber (by stepping over no longer useful friends), they never called out James Charles who I can't say more without being TH-cam blocked, they have always been sketchy. I am not shocked at all by Morphe's behavior with the closing of stores and bankruptcy.
What do you mean? Most influencers are social climbers. That's literally part of their job. Why is that a negative thing to bring up when almost all of them are doing it right in people's faces
@@Mimyakko Manny MUA was worse because he actually didn’t have talent. As a painter, as a makeup designer, and as a personality, EVERYTHING about Manny was lifted off another influencer that came before him. He also pushed Morphe in his social media by saying he was “buying” products and doing ridiculous hauls where he’d leave with hundred of dollars worth with merch when it was compensated.
I'm just shocked that they thought this was the best response. Like only endless lawsuits are gonna come from this. Brands, property owners, employees, etc. This is just making more trouble. Hopefully it will be easy for the victims/plaintiffs to win because clearly Morphe has horrible legal counsel if this was the route they chose
Yeah The vault fiasco was all I needed. Nothing wrong with drug store that works for you or other non drugstore that works and is worth the price (not overpriced for what it is). After Vault release though, years later, I considered giving them my money but they love to collab with problematic people like Nikita

This used to be a small family owned business when they were just a ma and pa, hole in the wall, in Burbank California and it's so sad to see them go out the way that they are because of bad business practices. Usually money reveals the true nature of people.
Stores I believe are still operating in the UK but that may be something to do with our redundancy laws and the fact that when they close they will have to give a statutory notice and will have to make the UK statutory redundancy payments to their staff.
Oh hell no, once I saw new shipments were coming in and I heard rumors going around it’s time for me to start looking for a new gig. These companies don’t care and want the workers there to sell everything and then drop them immediately.
Morphe is still open in the UK at least the one in my city, that said it looks very bare in stock of makeup, and they had an insane sale a few months ago that reduced things that should cost £12 to £3 etc Makes me wonder, I wouldn’t be surprised if it closed soon
I feel like the make-up craze is over though. It had it's day. People slapping their names on products always reminded me of build a bear. You can literally slap a label on a brush from Aliexpress and 150$ to the state to copyright your own brand. Soooo many people did it, that it's been over done. Not to mention eggs are 8$. Parents fund a lot of this stuff. They're not buying like they used to. I know I'm not.
I kept wondering why there were so many Jacelyn and Morphe products at Winners.... I work there and see most of the stuff as it comes to the floor. The way Winners works is that we purchase extra stock that companies make or stock that doesn't quite reach quality control, usually cosmetic issues. We have had at least 3 shipments with 30 Morphe palettes come through. This is a massive amount of makeup for us to get from one brand. Usually it's maybe 1 shipment of 10 palettes for other brands.
I’ve honestly never went down the Morphe rabbit hole it’s sad to hear about the employees and store closures & not notifying their employees , go to work , surprise products gone, doors closed 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
I worked in the head office of a London based jewellery brand with stores globally. Soon after starting, I found out the owners of the parent company were in serious legal trouble for fraud and money laundering. We were told not to talk about it, but then out of the blue all stores in the US were closed - staff literally showed up to locked doors and empty stores, even the US head office had no idea it was happening and all lost jobs without notice. Sadly I expect the reason the US stores are chosen in cases like this is because it is legal to do this to staff whereas in UK/Europe it is much harder. I jumped ship from that job pretty quickly because the way they treated people in general was appalling, and wasn't surprised they were completely bankrupt less than a year later.
Hopefully Sephora or ulta hires these people. I’m honestly not trying to buy crap tons of makeup anymore. Trying to stop foundation and use tinted moisturizer more. Influencer and pandemic created this loss at morphie. And people like me that did not shop there- I went to their competitor instead. I just watched the train wreck from afar and now still watching. You have to adjust to anything that may happen in life.
Morphe proves yet again that they are what we thought they where: shady. They lied to their employees because they thought they would take things or destroy things b4 they closed and that is just plain $hitty. These people seem to have been loyal employees and didn't deserve to be lied to and treated so badly by Morphe.
Never liked any of the influencers. They were controversial and not trustworthy. I hope the employees will be compensated somehow and find new jobs quickly. Not notifying employees of closure can’t be legal.
The law is tricky when it comes to multinational conglomerates like morphe. I know in the US Federal Law requires any business with 100 or more employees to give at least 6 months notice before closure
Thats why people who quit now don’t give 2 weeks notice. They’re finding out their worth. The company can fire you at anytime without previous notice. So I mean people know your worth.
If you're working for a company that had trouble paying rent for its stores and then they start telling stores to sell merchandise at 70-90% off, I think it's safe to say you're about to be out of a job. At that point, it's literally a going out of business/everything must go sale. So I'm confused why the employees were shocked to hear their stores were closing.
I used to work in bankruptcy administration. The only creditors who get paid even with lawsuits are the people who hold mortgages and liens. So banks. The banks and real estate will get paid first usually pennies on the dollar. Jeffrey and Jacqueline may get a settlement of a few thousand IF they are lucky. And if a company as big as morphe is going down, and selling assets that fast they won't.
if these influencers are cited as creditors then yes, it is very likely that they extended private loans to Morphe with shoddy recouping avenues -- hence unsecured creditors. Creditors have vested interest in the success of a company, they see cashflow if the company is doing well, so lawsuits aren't unlikely if they can't get their capital back. Jeff I'm surprised to see on the list of unsecured creditors though, he's had enough experience with business to know better you'd think.
I’ve only ever really used makeup In small doses. Signed up for Ipsy (had sample to full size products sent randomized in boxes each month depending on subscription 15-50$ dollar y’know the deal). After a year ish I had too much makeup so I canceled that. Other than the random samples I received there I would just buy Elf. Cheap and chill. I’m mostly just doing my eyebrows and using some brown shades of shadow. Thankfully I never really got into the makeup hype although I did like watching the TH-cam beauty gurus. The drama was intense though.
Its restructuring, so not total bankruptcy. Basically they declare bankruptcy to get out of their lease contracts and some other legal stuff happens and then their "investors" (aka people who were probably already owners of the company) take over. IMO one of the investors offered to pay the obligations they couldn't in return for controlling ownership in the organization. I have a suspicion it could be JStar or someone like him.
The only alternative was to do layoffs gradually until stores were closed completely both ways are horrible. It’s not hard to see what was happening if they saw super low inventory and other stores closing.
I was wondering why they were selling so much at such a low price weeks ago at one of their branch stores... I hope the employees will be able to find work!!
I don't think they will last even online after their awful handling of closing their stores. People will not buy because they treated their retail workers and their partner brands so horribly and unprofessionally.
Unfortunately, this is standard process for companies going bankrupt. Creditors, including employees, do not receive advanced notice until the paperwork is filed.
me if I would be a brand C'eo, I would give a little % back to the all employees that was working in a Morphe Store. its not okay to give 1-2 day noticed whiteout having a backup plan, having another job search that quickly. its just obscure to me. less of a stress on the shoulders to give a little bit of money back to the employee. Period.
Jacklyn still ignoring the Kozee drama... Hard to say as I'm based in the UK but normally as an "unsecured creditor" they are at the very back of the line of people owed money. Influencers made and destroyed the brand alongside with covid simultaneously
idk about the other states, but the CA workers can take them to court for a lot!! the WARN ACT was made for this, u cannot give only a day or even 1 week notice to workers. they are supposed to give a few weeks at least! LOOK UP THE WARN ACT IF YOU WORKED IN CA,AND LOST UR JOB
Well have you heard about shopee? It closed randomly in Poland with one day notice, which means that on the same day within 10min about 90 ppl in the same age range lost their job. In the same area. Not only in my city tho.
Might be a bait and switch. Big companies do this all of the time: form a company, run it into the ground, declare bankruptcy to avoid paying creditors (especially unsecured creditors), move the money to another entity. etc etc
I feel horrible for the employees and I will never buy from them again because of that. They relied heavily on beauty influencers and I feel with the beauty community fell apart is when their sales went down. Because a lot of people stopped supporting influencers like James and Jeffree.
I just don’t understand how this is even possible ?? Like aren’t there annnnnyyy regulations ? In Germany this would be impossible for a company to do.
I'm a businesses owner and I emailed Morphe around 3yrs ago. I wanted to open up a Morphe store in my country since there's none here. But they rejected my proposal to do so. I have to say, I'm glad that I did not get into business with them knowing this now. Sorry to hear bout what the staffs or business owners are going through now.. I hope that they could get at least some compensation out of this...
when you make james charles and jeffree star the face of morphe you know they aint gonna last 🤣 glad i never fell for the hype and bought a single thing from them.
Honestly the only ones I feel bad for are store employees and brands like Suva. Fortunately in my country is not Morphe who sells Suva but it's still sad because they're still a small brand that depends on Morphe at some point. I said it before but since the start of the pandemic we all knew brands like Morphe would go downhill. People stopped using makeup and trends changed since now skin care is more important for people.
I think in my opinion that Morphe has always done shady business. So it’s not surprising that they have gone bankrupt. Like look what they did with there employees. They didn’t even give them enough notice to make other plans. like seriously they really need to change the way that they run there business. but unfortunately I just don’t see that happening at all because of there actions and behavior.
At least in Mexico it's been months since Morphee has shipped any restock, last time I was at my closest Sephora back in October there was barely any Morphee products, and from what I've been told, it was the same in many other locations all around the city.
Influencers just don't have the power they used to. Banking on them to prop up a business was a bad move and my heart goes out to the poor employees due to Morphe's treatment of them.
They did this very poorly. None of the influencers should have found out that way or even the workers. My heart goes out to all of you. Who would want to continue supporting a company that doesn’t truly support their influencers?? Bye bye. Not worth my time.
BANKER HERE- secured credit is where you have to pay the lender to open a credit account for that exact dollar amount you pay. Ex: if you want a $300 secured credit card you MUST give the bank $300 to use as your “credit line” and then you only get that money back IF/WHEN you close the account (which hurts your credit score) also after paying the said $300 to open an account and you spend x amount of money on your credit card, you STILL have to pay your minimum payment AND they keep that $300 which would go back up after u repay. So if you spend $50 on a $300 secured credit account you might pay a $25 minimum payment that month and until you pay that full $50 back, you’ll only have the $250 worth of “available credit”. This is used when banks don’t trust consumers or if you have very bad credit and want to rebuild it. In this case where jefree and Jaclyn’s funds were UNSECURED that means J & J did NOT require morphe to put any of their own money up, in order to borrow from them. In other words they had trusted (in good faith) morphe to repay the debt, presumably with interest at a set rate and did NOT require morphe to put any of their own money into the “loans”. Bad company to trust apparently. Wouldn’t be surprised if this hits federal court VERY quickly which would probably be resolved in J & Js favor AND morphe would have to liquidate ANY tangible assets worth value, to be able to/be forced to pay back J & J plus court costs, fines and fees. IMO.
People are not buying that much amount of makeup any more. And that is good. Not only saving a ton of money. Also good for the environment! Morphe is such a bad brand. This poor employees! 1 day? Are they completely crazy? Disgusting!
I agree. I hope that nobody buys from them online. Surely there will be a few people but I hope that they end up having to shut down completely so they can feel what it’s like to be the employees they left jobless with 1 day notice.

@@KyleWoolridgeGrant they shilled out so much on influencers in the 2010s, I’m 1000% not surprised they’re not going under. Interested to know if it’s ONLY because of the physical stores!
@@Bjorksbackyard unfortunately I doubt we will ever get a straight up answer from Morphe. Brands are all about saving face to the public. Unless we get a higher up's insider tea, we will be left wondering. What I do know is it speaks VOLUMES knowing Morphe didn't even let their partner brands know, like the smaller brands that they had contracts with. The only way they could've breached contract without legal penalty to them..... is by filing bankruptcy. It's all just shady.
Also they associated themselves with so many influencers that have been widely cancelled it affected their image as well, people would just avoid them.
quarantine killed the beauty industry. it’s all about natural beauty these days. not surprised they couldn’t sustain it
Nail:👶. You:🔨
Very true. That when I stopped buying makeup and focused on skincare
Soooooo true!
They liquidated all assets to move to another company under a new name. They won't have to pay lawsuits under the new entity.
They didn’t want employees running off with product 🏃♀️💅
Wow thats likely true but still really horrible just as a human
More like running off to Sephora or Ulta
@@julisa3100 it’s not like Sephora is any better
It is an understatement. They were scared they would all leave without finishing up with closing up which would require more money
Yes, It's a security decision so they can sell the products to get the last money. So the people don't steal it, or the stores are left without employers to sell the products. It's al about the money. No human emotion aloud
The make up industry and the beauty gurus are not having a happy ending, and I'm living for it. But I'm feeling terribly for all the morphe workers.
Most companies do that and they do it because they don’t want employees to jump ship, because they need the manpower to sell their stock and then pack up what doesn’t :/
Weeks before Fredrick’s closed, I noticed we stopped getting supplies like trash bags, cleaners, shopping bags etc; and when we requested them we were met with excuses.
Oh waoooo any brushes ? 👀
thsi is exactly what i was thinking ... gotta get my ass down to tj maxx soon 😂
My TJ Maxx had a bunch of Morphe products too but I never would have guessed this was the reason!
@@Cattiva no brushes! Just lipsticks others worked their blush and cobtour
i wonder if my store will get any other items ? even before they closed their stores we always had the original M palettes and collab ones w influencers. it’s rare to see lip products / any other products at mine lol
Tati got so annoying. After that I stopped watching
Between them and the other big beauty influencers they ruined the TH-cam community
Same. It went from fun jabby drama to holy **** these people are heinous. I still love make up and i miss the fun times but now i just get drug store and colourpop lol
They're not telling their subsidiaries?? Quite literally a crime!!
Depends on their contracts
How could they not know tho since there IS a lawsuit against them, bc suva products also have banned FDA pigments… someone’s lying 🧐
As for Poland, prices are still the same, but their products in stores that are carrying them are mostly "on demand"
Ariana packaging giving 90s Clinique though
Hopefully they do a Haus labs and completely redo the brand
Her makeup brand is very stylish though it deserves better
she could of dominated the market on soley eyeliner considering her decade long signature cat eye. I think she should focus on a good quality and long lasting eyeliner and continue with her already successful fragrance line.
Good thing I never shopped at Morphe. But, if anything happens to Sephora, I'm fucked.
it won't.
This is just crazy
I keep up with Morphe, and when I saw their huge deals, sales, and so on I was just plain excited, but knowing that all of this was behind it - the closing stores, short or even failed notice to their employees, brands, and the general public, the possibility of millions of dollars in loans from huge names from TH-cam or just influences in themselves, and so on - it's just bewildering
this. i went to the vegas morphe store beginning of december and was like “wow like everything is 50% off what a steal!!” and now it makes me nauseous knowing why. i feel terrible for the employees
I work for H&M, during the pandemic i was told three days in advance that I didn’t have a job anymore. I feel for these people.
Is the store kinda empty?
@@TeaSpill your so inquisitive 🫶🏽
@@TeaSpill Completely empty including all display and testers. They have about 12 setting mist and a handful of the Abby Roberts pallets for same price.
Im going tomorrow again and will check for an update
Very weird on the UK website on Thursday they offered almost everything as 40% off on their website but on Saturday the offer is gone... They're still advertising on UK outlets - Boots instead of something like Ulta. II think most people are surprised that Jafar is owed money, did they not completely cut ties with him!? Jacklyn i get because her brand suffered A LOT before Forma took over...
I went to my local mall yesterday that has a morphe store and it was fully closed already. The sign was gone. I wasn't expecting it to close so soon. I feel so bad for the workers without notice losing their jobs. I wanted to get a suva beauty liner too when I went hopefully before my local Morphe closed but it closed within a day of the bankruptcy and closing announcement.
Honestly, we're really surprised. Most of us knew these guys we're going bankrupt. I feel sorry for all these employees who are about to lose their jobs.
@@Blast2224 yeah literally all of the drama beauty gurus did that too
and nikita 😑 they partnered with her at the peak of her controversy. that's what turned me off from morphe.
It’s like a train wreck you can’t look away from 👀
I never trusted morphe as a brand tbh
Same. I thought so many of their pallets looked so good, but never trusted the brand enough to purchase from them. So glad I never supported them 🙌🏻
Yeah The vault fiasco was all I needed. Nothing wrong with drug store that works for you or other non drugstore that works and is worth the price (not overpriced for what it is). After Vault release though, years later, I considered giving them my money but they love to collab with problematic people like Nikita
I literally only buy from Ulta. They have anything I could need from cheap to expensive. That’s why idc about Sephora cause their products aren’t that great but are super expensive
@kylie dillon what's the difference between ulta and sephora? I've only been to ulta twice and haven't been to a sephora 😅
@kylie dillon ohh I'm dumb you literally said sephora is overpriced 🤦🏻♀️
This used to be a small family owned business when they were just a ma and pa, hole in the wall, in Burbank California and it's so sad to see them go out the way that they are because of bad business practices. Usually money reveals the true nature of people.
Corporations expect 2 weeks notice from us when we leave, but abandon their dedicated teams with less than 24 hours notice
Allegedly they had a 10 year leasing agreement with the mall I work at, can’t wait for the lawsuit there too!
Stores I believe are still operating in the UK but that may be something to do with our redundancy laws and the fact that when they close they will have to give a statutory notice and will have to make the UK statutory redundancy payments to their staff.
how does this even happen 😭 i thought they are doing fine cuz in my location it’s always the most popular makeup store
THeyve repeatedly made bad business decisions that's how.
Oh hell no, once I saw new shipments were coming in and I heard rumors going around it’s time for me to start looking for a new gig. These companies don’t care and want the workers there to sell everything and then drop them immediately.
I knew it was messy but damn.....teaaaaaaa
Morphe is still open in the UK at least the one in my city, that said it looks very bare in stock of makeup, and they had an insane sale a few months ago that reduced things that should cost £12 to £3 etc
Makes me wonder, I wouldn’t be surprised if it closed soon
I feel like the make-up craze is over though. It had it's day. People slapping their names on products always reminded me of build a bear. You can literally slap a label on a brush from Aliexpress and 150$ to the state to copyright your own brand. Soooo many people did it, that it's been over done. Not to mention eggs are 8$. Parents fund a lot of this stuff. They're not buying like they used to. I know I'm not.
this whole situation just keeps getting worse and worse i really feel for their workers bc i would be so upset
The rise & downfall of Morphe should be a documentary.
i can’t wait to see how this turns out 👀
not u having early access
How is this 27 minutes ago even tho the video was just posted
OKAY VIP ERA
WTF IS THIS EARLY ACCESS??? LOL
How did you get early access though lmao
I wish they had a program in place for the employees to transition to other stores similar to Morphe
I hope all the former employees sue them!
Greed is a hell of a drug. ☠️
I’ve honestly never went down the Morphe rabbit hole it’s sad to hear about the employees and store closures & not notifying their employees , go to work , surprise products gone, doors closed 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
that last james charles clip caught me so off guard😭😭 what was he doing
Will Morphe products still be sold in Ulta? I think it’s kind of silly they had stand-alone stores to begin with honestly….
I think they opened their stores to stock all the popular influencer collabs. Still a bad idea 😭
@@ash.--. the only "influencer" pallet that I've been interested in from morphe is their collab pallet from PONY
yea they still will be at ulta
Oooof.. I see lawsuits, have they heard of WARN act? 🤦🏼♀️
The bankruptcy doesn’t surprise me. They stupidly played along with the cancel culture. What they did to their employees is unforgivable.
I hope they continue. I love their pallets.
Do the USA also differentiate private and firm assets ? So the creditors can't go after the owner ?
if these influencers are cited as creditors then yes, it is very likely that they extended private loans to Morphe with shoddy recouping avenues -- hence unsecured creditors. Creditors have vested interest in the success of a company, they see cashflow if the company is doing well, so lawsuits aren't unlikely if they can't get their capital back. Jeff I'm surprised to see on the list of unsecured creditors though, he's had enough experience with business to know better you'd think.
i am a morphe employee in edmonton, as of right now we are staying open and have not gotten any word on closing!!!
Ch 11 bankruptcy just means restructuring so Morphe isn’t done just yet
can we talk about the tea of parent companies and that whole veil
I’ve only ever really used makeup
In small doses.
Damn... job laws in the USA really suck
Something similar just happened with Shoppee in Europe. People and stores were informed 3 days prior
I don't wanna say but....without that james charles pallete morphe really fell of the shelf
The store in Liverpool, UK, is also low in stock and it’s a very weird vibe in there!
me if I would be a brand C'eo, I would give a little % back to the all employees that was working in a Morphe Store. its not okay to give 1-2 day noticed whiteout having a backup plan, having another job search that quickly. its just obscure to me. less of a stress on the shoulders to give a little bit of money back to the employee.
Not only in my city tho.
this is gonna be crazy
Might be a bait and switch. Big companies do this all of the time: form a company, run it into the ground, declare bankruptcy to avoid paying creditors (especially unsecured creditors), move the money to another entity. etc etc
They filed bankruptcy when they got sued for ingredients in their eyeshadow
I feel horrible for the employees and I will never buy from them again because of that. They relied heavily on beauty influencers and I feel with the beauty community fell apart is when their sales went down. Because a lot of people stopped supporting influencers like James and Jeffree.
This is why I don’t give a 2 weeks notice when I quit a job
Businesses expect you to give two weeks notice but when the turn tables they only give you a day notice. Gross.
The employees will be able to file for unemployment as long as they’ve been there for 90 days
I saw they have a class action lawsuit on a pigment or something they’ve used in palettes
Most corporate places don't tell their employees they're closing. Its just a policy reason. Its happened to me twice.
What they did to their employees they will never see a cent from me. Absolutely gross.
5:14 omfg the water tower opening 😭😭😭 i miss my store
The two mortgages stores in San Diego are still open 😂
IMO.
I have no idea about makeup brands but i lowkey love keeping up with this drama
People are not buying that much amount of makeup any more. And that is good. Not only saving a ton of money. Also good for the environment! Morphe is such a bad brand. This poor employees! 1 day? Are they completely crazy? Disgusting!
I agree. I hope that nobody buys from them online. Surely there will be a few people but I hope that they end up having to shut down completely so they can feel what it’s like to be the employees they left jobless with 1 day notice.
