Exactly, it's hard to break down sparring when both are working on their own specifics. No need to dive into this session.
Boxing gyms rarely let you go no head gear. Cuts from headbutts and soft tissue swelling are permanent and make for easier occurrences in the future.

@@Johnny_Bea_Good Jiri "almost lost" - rocks dude in first round with only landing 2 shots, and finishes him in the second round 😂. Landing shots and causing damage are two vastly different things. Jiri was never remotely hurt agains Rakic. Jiri has an aggressive style that consists of him tanking damage in order to execute a devastating offense. It works on the vast majoring of fighters, and he has like a 95% TKO rate.
We all know that aspect is a bad style matchup for Alex's power, but you never know - Jiri literally does nothing but trains and fights. If you're gonna wage war with him you better be on your shit, or he'll catch you..... even if you're Alex Peirera.

Yes, boxers can box better than mixed martial artists, and MMA fighters would murder the living shit out of practically any boxer in an MMA fight.
Also, tennis players are way better at playing tennis than squash players, and if you give a Nascar driver an F1 spot, he's gonna finish last every single time, provided he doesn't kill himself.
Just remember, these are sparring sessions, and the Olympian had many opportunities to lay out Alex. There are going about 75% trying not to hurt each other. Alex is my favorite fight of all time. Love it, keep learning ❤

As someone who boxes and has watched boxing for their entire life I would say the one issue Alex has in terms of pure boxing is he leaves his head on the centre line a lot.

I am prefacing with my lack of ring experience. I’m an analyst by nature in anything, but I’m not anything but a street fighter.
I figured he let Alex come to him because it’s an advantage, given he’s the shorter fighter. Alex is more likely to break guard and he can counter. It’s just not often the one advancing picks shots like him. He’s very calm.
The real deal here is, promoting for a real boxing fight, the Olympic boxer doesn't want to give 100% in the sparring. And later in an interview, he said he wasn't even trying to spark a boxing rematch between him and Alex, equalling a million-dollar fight for the two of them.

Crazy Poatan never goes backwards. All he knows is forward and cut the ring or cage off. Poatan even makes boxers rethink their decisions.
We spend so much time talking about how strong and how much knockout power Alex has that we sometimes overlook how technical he is.

Alex is lethal in MMA and kickboxing but that hands-down style would get him KOed in boxing. Part of it is the range. You’re much closer in boxing versus kickboxing and MMA. Having your hands low like that is just inviting trouble

That first sparring wasn’t the full sparring it was cut up a lot because Alex was getting countered a lot in the sparring and getting jabbed to the body a lot it’s like they cut out all the boxers part….

Has DJ ever sparred in boxing? The boxer isn't stuck in that corner, he's baiting. This is boxing sparring. Also, boxing gloves are half the size of the sparring gloves they're using. DJ only clipped Alex's best parts of that sparring. The white glove boxer gave Alex that work & easily jabbed & right crossed him throughout the sparring.

In my opinion, they are losing their position every time. Boxers like Artur Beterbiev, Bivol, Usyk, and Crawford don't make big slips like that. they use their timing, footwork, and positioning of course they do slips as well but not big slips on steady wide open legs. When boxer say some MMA guy -- or Alex -- is not as good as an elite boxer and would not win a boxing fight they are saying or the most obvious thing ever or missing the point. MMA is very much different from boxing. Boxing has hands, but not kicking and, ofc, not grappling. The addiction of the risk of being kicked (in the legs, in the body and even in the head) and to be grabed and taken down changes everything in a fight. You whole defence system must adjust to the thousands of new possibilities.
Boxe is amazing in it own rights, as are jiu jitsu and wrestling. An MMA guy, in a jiu jitsu/wrestling fighting rules agains an elite grappler should have to struggle to survive. But, put these three habitlies in a single fighting system and see MMA.

Do you think this is a dangerous fight for Alex to take on 2 weeks notice? Seems like its risky for the UFC to have one of their most popular champions fight on 2 weeks notice. Im not a pro fighter so im wondering if 2 weeks is even enough time to train for a 5 round fight? I know he faught recently and had a full fight camp for that so will that help with his cardio and being in fight shape? His opponent has the same disadvantage so it will be interesting to see what happens if the fight goes into the later rounds. It seems like Alex is fighting often because he knows at 37 years old he only has maby 2 more years of fighting in him "at 205 it seems like fighting elite in your mid to late 30s is common compared to the lighter weight classes" while at heavyweight they even fight elite at 40 years old. It seems like his chin is alot better at 205 than it was when he was cutting to 185. Those brutal weight cuts really compromise the chin. If I was Alex I would fight at lhw 3-4 more times than move up to heavyweight at around 38 years old so he doesnt have to cut anyweught because at 38-39 you gotta do whatever you can to keep your chin holding up.
