Manix 2 lightweight is my favorite. My other fave isn't on your table, the Smock, but I really like it for its button compression lock + squared off flipper. It's the best fidget knife out there. If I could combine the two and have the manix 2 shape and blade with the smock's lock and flipper, I would never need another knife.
That sounds amazing sometimes i wish they would mix some of the models up, i used to have the smock and as much as i loved it i did sell it, great knife though and one of their better models imo
Two of my oldest knives are the Chaparral and the Manix 2 lightweight. I have never felt that any Spyderco would be so essential as to knock these two off my rotation. I am tempted by the Stretch 2 in K390 but I have yet to justify the need.
I watched the hard use video and agreed 100%. This video is no different. It's unusual to find a reviewer that see's it so similar. I still like to watch everyone though. It's like the news. You shouldn't just watch the guys that say what you like. Keep up the great work. This channel is becoming a top favorite!
Man thank you! And i totally agree, watching different opinions is a good thing, and different channels help teach different things, and different personalities, perspectives and different experiences
😆 its a great little tank, my wife got her friend at work into knives and they have bought two techno 2 in like two weeks just because they had different ano, its a badass knife that get soooo smooth
Yeah i loved the smock but since i was willing to trade it i dont have it no more and it cant be on the list since i was willing to trade it, even though i still think its one of there better models
Sage 5, thin stock, ergonomic, good all around blade shape, compression lock, light but full steel liners. Para 2 is annoying to dial in, the relationship between the stop pin and the pivot makes it hard to get minimal blade play and good action, and of course the lanyard tube is a hassle.
PM2 tanto. Don't care for Suderco in general, however... This model has more aftermarket parts of any knife and they did the tanto properly. Otherwise the PM2 in S110v is a good runner up. For me personally it's the Delica as its the most versatile and then the Dragonfly as a great 5th pocket knife. But I can't argue against the PM just because I don't prefer it. They make a version in LC200N (especially a tanto) I will buy 3 of them.
I realize what makes LC200N cool, however living in an arid climate, I can’t say I’d buy it. I’ve wanted a spydie chef for years, I’d love to experience the design and have heard nothing but good things but I have no desire to spend that money on a steel that doesn’t have the qualities I’m looking for. Carbon over stainless for me personally, not to say I don’t love stainless, I do. Love the exotic performance oriented steels. I don’t live in a humid or salty environment so it’s not for me.
Manix 2 is my favourite, but I'd probably vote a Native (full-size) for best overall Spyderco. Lockback is hands-down the most utilitarian and functional of the locks, and the blade is overall great.
I've been thinking of grabbing a Manix XL for awhile now. I love the Manix, and I like big knives, so combining the 2 is a no brainer. That being said, I already have 22 Spyderco knives, and 4 of those are different variations of the Manix, so I keep telling myself I really don't need yet another Spyderco that will seldom get carried just because of how damn many I already have. Still...I want one. You know how that goes. We always want another knife regardless of whether we need it or not 🤣
Most underrated Spyderco is the Brouwer in my opinion: good ergonomics, useful blade shape, slim carry profile, non-threatening more classic design and super smooth operation. My personal favourites are the: Para 3, PM2, Native 5, Dragonfly 2 and the Shaman. Top 3 steels at the moment are Cruwear, REX45 and S110V.
Yeah the Brouwer is a great little knife. Chaparral is also. I have the original slyzs bowie and love it. I love cruwear, I've gotten to test and sharpen it a ton now and I'm pist I don't have any in my collection, k390 is damn good though that's my favorite steel atm as for super steels
@@NeevesKnives Nice! Also solid knives you mentioned, I do have the Chaparral rafir nobel (?) which I like but is more a showpiece as I'm a bit hesitant to use it as the handle scales get scratched up easily. I've got a good amount of experience using Cruwear and I love it. Tough, easy to sharpen and holds an edge for a good amount of time. Just an awesome user steel. With K390 I don't have much experience as for now, only have a PM2 and Para 3 in it and didn't use it enough. If it is a bit like REX45 I'm sure I'm going to love it as well.
I recently returned the first Spyderco (Spyopera), that I purchased. The workmanship was not at all what I would have expected from Spyderco and Lyon steel. The blade would wobble form side too side when closed.

@@NeevesKnives yes the Kapara is sweet. But it’s not my EDC, it’s more of a Church knife. I love to carry it when going out to eat. I love using it to cut a steak while my wife rolls her eyes!
Of all my Spydercos the Native should be my favorite, easy to carry, nice looks. Thinn small but not too smal. But i never grabb it... Dont know why. Maybe it is like you say, not fast enough on the close.
I always liked the design of the Brouwer ever since someone posted a video of it from a blade show. Immediately caught my eye. Yeah i dobt know a lot about the zdp but vg10 is a great steel, takes a great edge and it stroppes back easily, holds a devent edge especially for the money, great all around steel and its stain resistance is great

Thank you for posting this. I have been looking to get a Spyder so this video came at a great time for me. What is the name of the darker brown handled knife?
The dark brown Spyderco is the Gayle Bradley 2 with custom contoured micarta scales. The standard model comes in carbon fiber: www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderco-Gayle-Bradley-Folder-2--28854 I wish I knew where the scales came from as I would have listed that too, but sadly I don't.
If you were a leftie you'd be going in a different direction. You rightly mentioned that the compression lock is a bummer for the left hand. I was pleased you chose the Manix 2. I have one and it's genuinely ampidextrous. I still can't figure out how you can Spydieflick the Chaparral.
Maybe you should just swap the Rex45 blade from the lightweight Manix to your body with Ti scales for perfect knife! Blade slides out even if lightweight body can't disassemble, blades should be same spec?
I almost went with the copper flytanium bit went with the sage cage and stonewashed titanium and it’s not too heavy for a backspacer soon as want to pay $50 for one , lol . It would look too cool with the silver lock system right ? Maybe anodixemthe titanium and get some colored screws later . Oh yeah a manix 2
@@NeevesKnives that will be awesome. I hope to see them in the future vid even if they make an appearance. I just got my first Spyderco in 2022. I remember when they came out dude I totally remember when they came out
I don't know why but Spyderco is by far my favorite knife brand. They are so distinctive and instantly recognizable unlike any other knife brand out there. And given that I love their design and the looks, Spyderco is my favorite. Mind you my collection is weak and still made out of Chinese replicas, but with some tinkering and oiling, you get a perfect knife that usually goes for more than 200$ for a mere 30-40 bucks. Of course the steel is basic but I keep them sharp with the wet stone and you can shave with them. Blade retention is naturally bad so the sharpening has to be done every few weeks. I have the Para 2 and 3, the Shaman, Delica and Dragonfly. Now I'm eyeing an original Spyderco Caribeen, it's incredible..
Anyone who is a true master of the blade would know that the spyderco Tropen is the superior spyderco. All jokes aside, great video! Ive got puny hands so the pm3 is perfect for me
How many sharpenings do you estimate youd get out of a manix? The most sharpenings I've ever put on a knife is two so I can't picture an accurate estimate in my head.
It depends, so if your chipping your edge from hard use then far less sharpening than if your sharpening for edge retention, also depending on how good you are at preserving steel is a factor, when i first started sharpening i didnt get anywhere near the amount of sharpening i can get from a knife now, I was removing way more steel because i was trying to make perfection and i didnt have the muscle memory yet, but if you do it good you can get possibly 30 to 40 sharpenings out of it, but at that point it wouldnt look normal the blade would be a lot shorter, and thicker bte
@@NeevesKnives I'm going to spend a little more and get the manix in m390. It's worth the money because of the extra life I will get between sharpenings. All that extra time with each sharpening will add up to a lot more life out of the knife.
Tough choice. I haven't had a Manix 2 want one now that I have the XL version. I thought about trying the LW but realize I shouldn't until I actually have the real deal Manix2.
Just got purple hardware from blades we love and flytanium ti scales and purple lanyard tube and backspacer for my Maxamet para 2 just put the purple hardware in the stock knife and it seems a lil tight but not too bad if that makes sense. Tried putting bronze ti hardware in my k390 para 2 but damn they lock tighted that stop pin screws with some crazy loctite lol so went on to Maxamet and purple hardware and got it done 👍
It would be interesting to see if you had a reground shaman if it would change your opinion on the Shaman. It's to bad I didn't have mine fixed yet when I sent that batch of knives. It boosted the cutting performance a lot.IMHO, it was well worth the $60 because I like the design so much. I'm still willing to let you borrow it if you want to. My biggest bitch about Spyderco is their use of loctite. Supposedly they stopped using it but that M4 Shaman pivot was loctited, and I have my Cruwear Manix off with G from Oupost76 for a skinny mod, and he's having a problem with 2 of the body screws being loctited. It really pisses me off. They could at least use blue loctite if they feel they just have to use it at all. And why use it just on some screws, but not others? Wtf is that all about? It makes no sense to me at all. That blue hardware on the Chaparral came from Blades we love on Ebay. I also have their same blue hardware on my GB2 as well. I'm happy with it. Any ano hardware can be scratched from using the torx on it though, so be careful when installing it. No matter how well it's done, it's still only surface level deep. Flytanium is probably good too, but I have no experience with it to say for sure.
Yeah i try to be very careful with ano thats why im looking for a polished ano because it should hold ano better, and i can always redue the ano after a while. I love the Shaman and i carry and use it often, at this point in what i do I look for ergos and cutting performance, wich the shaman is good but just loses on cutting performance when next to another knife with better, but yes a shaman with a regrind would possibly have won, in reality its still my top 3 even though which says a lot because theres a ton of spyderco knives
@@NeevesKnives the regrind turns a good knife into a great knife. It really does turn it into a completely different knife. Well worth the extra cost imho.
The second from the right with the bm Osborn kind of blade . Osborn is very good , no big secret . People that use it love it like a manix 2 . New to spiderco in 2022 I would say I knew right away with the manix 2 but that fricken Osborn , the Og green aluminum scales is a gem 💎 too like 1000s of other good knives out there . So many knives out there , it’s blowing my mind how many are coming out lately
You cant get in trouble for carrying it in unless you commit an actual crime with it, the most they can do is ask you to leave, even with a fire arm the most they can do is ask you to leave and cone back with out it
I’ve got to say my finger tips are killing me from the compression lock on the pm2. The flat surface needs to be taller to get to the flat spot I land right on the top corner and that’s why it’s uncomfortable.
Quagmire someone does that called blades we love I think he calls it the pm2 ultra. He takes a left handed pm2 puts a button on it and new scales and it’s just like the smock
Fun video! Now I have to add a Manix 2 to my collection, as I have been on the fence with it for years…. Btw, Have you tried a Spyderco Drunken yet? Another great Spyderco!
Not yet I thought I was going to guess we shall see, but if you haven't tried the manix2 you should it's one of there best the lock might be a little strong off the bat but it's easy to break in and it only gets better and better
Most underrated Spyderco would be the dragonfly g-10. My beefiest would be the Battlestation. My fidgetiest would be the pm2. My deadliest is the Szabo. Best all around goes to the Southard.
Thats awesome, i was watching a video the other day on one and the guy was showing how useful it was and did a ton of work with it, i think the video was a reel though not an actual video but he did a ton of work with it
@@NeevesKnives gotta be the gayel cuz I heard you say pm2. Think you said it’s your fav slicer? Fav something. But aye thanks for your time big dog. Love your content and I love my knives thanks to you. Helped me decide what to get
I am sorry but in reality it's just like you mentioned each Spydy has it's own individuality that makes it what is so therefore their is no particular number 1 Spyderco. It all depends what you are searching for and the function. For example a top of the line self defense knife I would give it to the Yojimbos. The creator of the Yojimbos is knife fighting instructor so therefore that hands down gives that model more success.
Ofcourse and thats why if someone said there favorite spyderco was the dragonfly im not going to argue with them why it is, im saying what works best and most for my daily tasks
My para 3 suffers from blade play. Tighten the pivot and then the action is very stiff. Slack it off the tiniest amount its drop shut but the blade play comes back again. Its over a year old so its well broken in. Not the end of the world but it puts me off buying anymore Spyderco’s. 👎
You can try taking it apart and polishing the washers and also re adjusting the screws meaning one might have been tightened all the way down before it should have, think about it like a rim on a car, you never tighten one of the lug nuts down all the way then go to the next screw, otherwise the rim wont be on flat, you want to put the screws in slowly one by one so that the scale is on completely flat, that might be the problem
I don’t think you need to tell him how to run is videos you come off as someone who has to have everything done your way but it’s not your channel so if you want things done a certain way start your own channel

Yeah i would if the knife was mine, the lw is someone elses
You can't go wrong with the manix 2.
Spyderco Military for myself. There are so many good knives in their lineup though.
Out of the ones I have I'd give top marks to either the Manix 2 or the Yojimbo 2.
Beautiful knives! My choice for #1 is the Kapara. I will have one eventually. It's insanely beautiful. And apparently it cuts great as well.
are these assisted?
I love the manix 2, one lw, one blackout and one fly, it's all i need. Nice vid man.
Thats whatsup
@@NeevesKnives True story !)
Awesome review,.......love my Manix XL2!!!
Hadi it since 2015.
I just spent a bunch of $$ on new scales and parts for a couple spydies, my new Kamara and pm2 in k390 about to dressm up
@@NeevesKnives that will be awesome. I hope to see them in the future vid even if they make an appearance. I just got my first Spyderco in 2022. I remember when they came out dude I totally remember when they came out
Thanks!! Really help me narrow it down
Great bunch of Spydies! I didn't envy you in having to pick a favorite! The Shaman is my next purchase. Been wanting one for some time. ✌️
I still remember the video you guys did when you handled your first spyderco
I bought a ano blue Lynch clip for my pm2 and am very happy with quality and it’s looking pretty cool in spite of the wear.
Nice! Yeah im going to definitely order a set and clip very soon if lynch has the screws then il go with them
Anyone who is a true master of the blade would know that the spyderco Tropen is the superior spyderco.
All jokes aside, great video! Ive got puny hands so the pm3 is perfect for me
I loved the pm3 i personally liked the lw but would pick the regular g10 version everyday of the week
Put Justin's (OCD for EDC) CME on your PM2 for left handed use.
Yeah i was telling someone about it today
I love Byrd and Spyderco backlocks!
Nice! I havent tried a byrd but was close a few timrmes to getting one, i like the back lock but i do like other locks a bit more
How many sharpenings do you estimate youd get out of a manix?
Yeah the lw is great but hate that it doesn't have screws it has rivets which you cant take apart
The brown one with the liner lock you modified.
Just had a thought last week. Is it legal to carry a pocketknife inside a post office? I’m so used to carrying mine so many places
Just don't be dumb with it or commit a crime "carrying a weapon".
You cant get in trouble for carrying it in unless you commit an actual crime with it, the most they can do is ask you to leave, even with a fire arm the most they can do is ask you to leave and cone back with out it
@@NeevesKnives thanks for the info!
How about the best Ka-bar, wait all of them!
I’ve got to say my finger tips are killing me from the compression lock on the pm2. The flat surface needs to be taller to get to the flat spot I land right on the top corner and that’s why it’s uncomfortable.
I find the same thing man! My finger tips go numb from the compression lock. Wish they would just attach a button to it like the smock.
Quagmire someone does that called blades we love I think he calls it the pm2 ultra. He takes a left handed pm2 puts a button on it and new scales and it’s just like the smock
Ocd for edc made a button that you can glue on with out taking the knife apart, its a great idea and hes selling them
Neeves Knives i know about it. I saw his video. I’m not sure how I feel about super gluing something to my knife.
The Manix is the only true ambidextrous of the four so good choice.
@@NeevesKnives yes, thank you, it’s on my list that keeps getting longer…. 👍
@@NeevesKnives you will love the Drunken, I think, because of the Sheepfoot “like” blade in polished stonewashed S90V; it’s beautiful, and
Whats the name of the winner knive?
From a user perspective, the last four remainder is The Top Best. Sometimes there can never be one.! Cowabunga.!
Absolutely it's tough especially as a user myself because I'm always thinking of different scenarios
I was disappointed with the Manix LW. I just can't stand the FRN and the inability to remove the scales
I agree
For me I think I have to go with the Manix 2. For hardware for the PM2 go on EBay and ask “Bladeswelove” if he will sell you all the hardware for it.
Awesome! Thanks JJ
Most underrated Spyderco would be the dragonfly g-10. My beefiest would be the Battlestation. My fidgetiest would be the pm2. My deadliest is the Szabo. Best all around goes to the Southard.
Love to watch these videos. Alot of fun to watch you decide. Great video 👍
Hard choices for sure
Wats that knife called u never said the name of it
Adrenaline on ebay does amazing hardware.... I have purple hardware on my Techno 2. It's gorgeous
Awesome thank you il checkm out
What is a 'this one' ?
exactly the manix is the greatest ive gotta get me another XL my greatest one disappeared gotta get another one
thats sucks i know i would def get another if i lost mine or even one of mine lol
Gayle Bradley with a ball lock ... yeah! 👍
🔥
I don’t know if it’s the best but my favorite is the dragonfly.
Thats awesome, i was watching a video the other day on one and the guy was showing how useful it was and did a ton of work with it, i think the video was a reel though not an actual video but he did a ton of work with it
have you tested the Spyderco Watu?
No i have not
Me neither but I think it is about what you like..@@NeevesKnives
@@bill64gr il go check it out
@@bill64gr its different for sure, i think id have to really have it in hand to have a real opinion on it
I have a Kapara. You want me to send it in so you can say you tried it?
Hell yeah!!
And just in case anybody was wondering I picked the brass Mannix
What the name of the brown one? I don’t think you said. It’s always “this one” lol
there was a few brown ones, but probably the gayle bradly or pm2
Para 3 is the perfect knife
That vocal fry though bro yooo
Brilliant!
How could you not include the Spyderco Tenacious?
Don't have one
Lol I got that purple already sitting in my drawer waiting for the micarta and Lynch clip
Nice!!
You always neglect the Dragonfly 2.....why no Dragonfly love bro....
It's small bro. Can't do heavy work with it
I dont have one! But im sure its a badass little guy
Shaman, manix. Endura
you need to introduce the knives and give the name and steel to start
I don’t think you need to tell him how to run is videos you come off as someone who has to have everything done your way but it’s not your channel so if you want things done a certain way start your own channel
It’s the one you carry the most
I was trying to just hear the audio, all I heard was “this one, that one” super frustrating!! 😂😅
Sage 5
so... "bang" is a thing you say at the beginning of every vid it appears... but is that accurate? shouldn't it be "flick" or "swoosh" or "thwack"? a gun goes bang, not a blade.
Ask Spyderco to make a knife with the blade u love most lock n button an ergos they probably would do it
The gentleman w/ the orange manix has gone without it so long that it wouldn't matter and he would not notice if the crappy mail service dropped it off at my place for a while.
;-p
Watching this vid to see what ones are one my want/wish/grail/holygrail/ lists.
McBee but not high on my list
G10 manix (or a few)
Manix (cant have enough)(I have only one but it needs a pocket clip)
YoJumbo (or2-1 to custom) pretty high on list
Manix XL (or2) its high like right under the YJo
PM2 (or few) I DO-NOT HAVE A "REAL" PM2.
seriously!!!
GB2 beautiful but I dont see me being able to get one.
The yoji is a great knife and a beast atleast this one is, it would be a badass mod for sure
I have almost every Spyderco but the brown one I couldn’t tell what it was and you never said the name of it once
I was trying to just hear the audio, all I heard was “this one, that one” super frustrating!! 😂😅
