Alternative gear. BlackBogs dagger (5/5) Rare circlet or shako (5/5) Bramble Trangs offhand (Um or 5/5) Trangs gloves Trangs belt (this allows the three piece bonus) Maras kaleidoscope/or rare p&B ammy with res Soj X2/ or 2 rares with fcr/res and/or mana And finally your choice of boots. I wear marrows since I have a bunch of All res small charms and it makes my strength requirements easier to achieve but aldurs/nats/or treks are good as well. I also use Harmony Bow on an act 1 Merc for fast movement to make up for no teleport. Instead of skeletons I invest in skeleton mastery and 1 point into revives, yeah they are on a timer but they can tank so much damage for you. It's very safe as long as you kill fast/or keep their timing in mind. Love the vids llama 🦙 I hope you are enjoying D2R and I really hope blizzard adds new content for the ladder season like new runewords/sets/uniques. Or maybe just maybe they make act 3 mercs not garbage 🤞

I remember one summer break in highschool i decided to just fk around and ended up going poison dagger and bone armor... my friends thought I was dumb but it was so satisfying walking up to something... hitting it once, and then walking away as it just crumpled behind me... maybe I'll redo it one of these days I also loved inferno sorcs watching things melt
Incredibly fast clearing, the fastest i have ever seen. You need dweb and Enigma to get the most out of it though. Pit can be cleared in 1 and a half minutes(8player) don't ignore poison spray either, the damage from that is sick.
Holy freeze is by far the best aura for dweb poison nova. Trust me, your merc probably wont have the time to kill much anyway and it makes tping between huge numbers of mobs safer too.
So I decided to respec but failed to watch the whole video first. That had me put too few points into the main skill. Used two of my three free respec’s and was quite upset. I was upset because my summoner build could take out Baal but this build couldn’t. I hadn’t maxed the main skill and now my skelly army sucked too. I realized that my gear f’n suuucked and went to bed upset. 😭 Woke up feeling good; made the decision to trust in the Llama 🦙 and send it. I was already in hell and the build COULD kill things in the starting area faster even though I died to Baal’s minions. So it was okay, I told myself. So far I’ve felt a massive improvement as I get more better items. I’m currently very excited to see how high I can build this necro and the improvement with every piece of gear is so much more pronounced and satisfying than it was with the pure summoner build. Highly recommend this build to someone who’s already made it to hell, feels their summoner is plateauing and wants a more aoe attack to farm with. Thanks 😊
I always put some points in energy so I don't have to rely on potions so much in the beginning ... before you have the mana increasing gear - you can always throw some Sapphires into your sockets . I usually do Topaz and Sapphires at level 18
@@theOrkinman09 I tried this build (without Death's web but with Trang Oul's full set which gives at least +25 poison damage and -25% enemies poison resistance) and I have massive problems with poison resistant mobs in hell. The remove resistances skill is removing the resistances (at least it works in act2, don't know if it still works in act5), but still the enemies take very litte damage to poison, compared to other enemies. It's really annoying. Act2 worms level with all the poison resistant worms is an absolute pain in the ass. They take so little damage although their poison resistance is removed and I have lvl34 on my main skills. Hopefully with Death's web it's better. But then it means you absolutely NEED deaths's web for this build.
I was confused when you said "Cast Rate". I was like..."That's not a Necromancer Skill, dude!" Then, I understood what you meant, as I heard it as castrate instead of cast rate...at 1.75x viewing speed.
No, it just resets the duration. That's why you need -x% poison res from gear (Death Web, Facets, Tranq set) which also increases duration (but only -%poison res from gear, not from Lower Resist). -100% poison res from gear = 4 sec duration on PNova. So your PNova goes from 1000 over 2 sec (500/s) to 4000 over 4 sec (1000/s). ;D Both damage and duration is doubled. You don't need to spam it that much.

I forget since it's been like 18 years since I played a poison necro last, but is it the trang'oul set that turns you into a ghoul when you have all the pieces of the set equipped?
Looks like Lama has the 50FCR break point with the gear presented. Is that too low for teleporting with Enigma? Feel like It might make more sense to go either 75FCR (10 Frames) or 125 FCR (9 frames) by sapping the Helm, Ammy, or Shield in order to teleport more efficiently. Thoughts??
If you use skeletons, you should really consider adding points to skeleton mastery. Put like 12 points in skeletons to have 6, and put like 10 points in mastery. 6 strong skeletons are MUCH better than 8-9 weak ones.
when would you say it would be worth respeccing from bone necro to poison? do i need to have deaths web and other gg gear to make poison necros damage comparable to bone necro?
Was a massive d2 fan. Just bought d2R. Saw my last bnet transaction today. Bought d3 May, 15, 2012. Got refund June, 1, 2012. Blizzard actually made something I've wanted for nearly a decade.
You missed out by refunding d3. From the dates, I assume you refunded due to the server problems at launch. The game was pretty great, although still not as good as D2
Not a critique; but why not start out with Summoning and about the time you are nearing clvl 30, you just start putting points into the Poison tree? You wouldn't even need to respec, and could save it in case you messed something up later.
I main a summoner, the hardest time for a summoner is early on bosses (especially normal Diablo) and bone makes them a lot easier, so if your end goal is to swap at 30ish summon wouldn't be ideal.
@@keldon_champion I've leveled multiple necros and every single one I've started as a summoner. The only thing you'll encounter as an issue is making sure you have decrep. Precast dc, as soon as you see it hit. Cast clay on top of diablo, assuming it hasn't already gotten in there on it's own ai, then let your army do its job, recasting decrep every few seconds to refresh.
@@MrGAMEOVER85 Well ya I do it the same way, he is not hard really more annoying really because at that level if he fire novas all your skeletons die and its just slow. Bone is just technically faster in normal is all I was saying, I usually just start as a summoner because its cruise control.
For somebody that uses J mod is Jay Maud with this build and 4 Is fasets that are 5% I noticed that reaching Max Block I was left with not even 1000 health before being boffed and around 1500 health after buffing myself is myself is it still better to put on is it better to put all my stats into vitality once I get enough strength and forget about the Max block with this particular shield
My first time playing D2. Just got to nightmare on my bone spear necro. I wanna respec into poison nova instead of summoner, but if it's super gear dependant, I'm wondering if I'm better off just doing summoner since it's my starter character? I'm on ps5, so I dunno if I can get the gear.
I m leveling as a summoner, got to act 5 normal but diablo was a fucking nightmare to beat, skeletons died from him in like 3 seconds, and summoning them again is the most tedious thing in the game, you have to find a ton of corpses. The lvling Is going silky smooth, but the bosses are a real pain, I fear Baal will be worse than diablo
@@RoyalTrashing that's exactly why I don't wanna go summoner. I'd rather just have a damage dealing skill, but then you have to deal w/poison immunity and the gear. Are you using iron maiden? All tge guides said it was great for bosses, bit I don't notice a lot. Seems underwhelming
Considering converting my pure summon necro to a hybrid nova. I shopped a sweet +3 skelly wand and made it into a white wand. and have a +3 +1 SM splendor. So my skellys would be mighty strong still. And convert more to pure poison once im able to find trangs belt and shield to pair with my gloves.
So... Some enemies can have their immunes break with lower res but others..not so much such as the snakes in nihlathak lair or in throne room. As a Necro you can throw decrepify on them and let your Merc kill then, or avoid then entirely. Alternatively if you have trangs pieces on atleast 2 I think, you have access to FireWall. Which is very useful in these situations when combined with bone prison
Poison is probably the only element besides cold that works ok with sunder charms. Use a sunder charm and it will still hurt them and if it does not there is always poison explosion which does around 7 times the damage as poison nova. That works on sundered immunes, drops them like flies. It is really a very powerful build in every way. I got a kick of poisoning 8 player hell andy to death.
I have a Umes Lament + Homunculous in the back of back build, does it make sense to curse and then swap weapons or would I lose the high level curse on swap?
Little tip, don't spam PNova, dmg is over 2 seconds so wait a second before casting again. Might seem stupid but I struggled at first simply because I was spamming it not giving it time to actually deal all of it's damage. Might seem stupid but it actually made such a big difference for me, could also be I was used to playing summon necro and it was hard to retrain my brain to the new style.
@@danielthomas2659 it's more that it starts the dmg over, it's over two seconds so if you spam it it's not getting the full effect, and it seems most of the dmg comes right at the end.
@@bryangast2098 I guess I'm just trying to make sure that if I feel like being lazy and holding the button-down to Spam it rather than waiting every 2 seconds to use the ability that hopefully I'm not dealing less damage over time. I understand like you said that you don't Get the full effect from the poison Nova when you cast it Before the 2 seconds is up But if you choose to Spam the button or the spell in this case are you only burning Mana or are you actually doing less damage over time? What I mean by overtime is say you're fighting Diablo and you hold the button-down and Spam the spell will you kill him in the same amount of time versus if you were to hit the button and wait 2 seconds hit the button wait 2 seconds
How do you deal with the high Reduced Resistances requirement you run into early hell defficulty? Its too early to actually get the gear that fixes it… 🤔 seems like you need at least greif, max lower res or death web to even get through hell defficulty
max lower res to break immunities til you have better gear thats all, there arent that much immunities you cant break as a poison necro. if its too much then corpse explode them to death
I am slowly getting back on D2 and D2 Res and can someone tell me if the build videos I watch about D2 Rez are good for D2 classic as well ? I thought maybe there are minor patch differences that make them not..

played poison necro on old school D2 in preperation to D2R the past weeks. gotta say chaos sanctuary and baals guardians in hell were such a pain in the butt lol. does someone have a nice way to get through that a bit easier?

I miss my Poison Daggermancer from back when LoD was first released, before the poison nerf; I loaded up on poison damange charms and poked everything once and waited for minutes and they all died.
If you search list of best D2 characters. So far all has listed Barbarian lowest and Necro highest. I get paladin is probably stronger end game but Necro is really good. If not mistaken Necro and Assassin should be easiest from start to end game. PS Would you consider legit to max skeleton mastery over skeleton warrior so your revives gets strong?
Couldn’t you use instead of a spirit weapon, a blackbogs sherap? This gives +4 to poison nova and gives + 2 or 3 to poison dagger and poison explosion. Wouldn’t that be a better budget option than spirit
Full Trang on this char is the way to go in my opinion. Cast rate isn't super relevant for a poison necro. Add the resistances, the always-walking block chance, the cool-ass ghoul graphic, aaaand that's all I need. Even the fire skills are acceptable damage, with Lower Resist doing it's job. I think at least the Gloves and Shield are necessary. Gloves give +25% to poison damage, shield gives -%25 to enemy poison resistance with two other items. Overall, one of my personal favourite builds.
How about leveling him as a summoner with Raise Skeleton, Amp Damage and Corpse Explosion, and then adding Poison Nova later on? Might be easier for new players, and the end result would be the same of course.
Is FCR as important as other casters? I think the poison damage duration is fixed so casting novas faster does no good. Maybe LR+PN combo becomes a little faster tho
U are correct, psn nec is good.. before they lowered his dmg.. u could kill a lvl 90 paladin easy with lvl 48 psn nec. In the old days, u could get 15k nova dmg.. now thats not easy unless bramble set ups. I tryed ALL sett ups pvm I like best eni, 3trangs or Arach+5nec 2s rare shield(hard to find though). Merc set ups, if u like to use LR, use infy merc. BUT if ur lazy like me.. dont put skills in LR.. use R Tolls set ups. Then u dont need to put skills in curses.. cuz merc curses it self(over curse you). Best amu is mara unless u wanna go 125fcr. Psn WILL have BIG trouble reaching 75 Light res unless u use fcr ring/Nata boots.
As usual great build. I do have a question though for the more budget of us. How do I kill poison immunes? I hit them with lower res but it barely hurts them when I nova.
Skip is one of Llama’s main tips. He teleports using a teleport charges staff to avoid most dangers in the game. He quits often in hell, if his character’s body is not handy to recover... Basically the game hands you situations that each character cannot handle. It was tuned for group play. But they allow access to teleport, lower res, call to arms, battle orders for all classes so any character can solo.

With Trangs 3 pc on glove , belt and shield lowered psn res , It's better dmg wise than using arach and spirit I think but obviously less skill and less fcr . I always was under impression Psn necro doesnt need that much fcr . Also I always used a bramble armor and had a Tele charge staff i shopped in inventory.

I was under the impression that poison kind of adds up weirdly, and doesn’t simply add up all the damage and all the ‘over X-seconds’ to arrive at a final DPS value ? So, if my P-Nova did (let’s say) 100 dmg over 5-seconds… and I set a Poison Charm in my inventory that says “50 poison damage over 5 seconds”…. How much actual damage does my Poison Nova deal, and over how many seconds ?? 🤔
@@AlekTrev006 the poison charms don’t do anything for poison nova. You have to add +skill poison and bone grand charms. And then add poison facets to your gear. But yea position nova is over 2 seconds.

you should use holy freeze. Might does nothing for this build outside of maybe helping your skeles which are pointless to boost with so little invested in them. Holy freeze will benefit you way more. Im a summy necro player and even with 40+ skills your skeles really don't do much so getting might just to help them a lil when you only investing 20 points is kinda dumb. Having essentially a constant decripy going via your merc is way more useful here. The only argument for not using holy freeze is you lose some dead bodies for corpse exp ( but you don't lose em all and its more for clean up anyway since PN will kill basically everything as you run through the map )

Note for Mercenary Type: do NOT get holy freeze - it'll give you fewer corpses for CE. use Blessed Aim or Might.

why do you need FCR? the nova dont stack? it last for 2 seconds so faster cast than that is useless? or is it just for casting enigma teleport?

Go watch magic find guide! Most of this gear is hell difficulty finds/VERY high runes shako can be found in NM Mephisto same with a couple others

you dont need FCR with this build. Casting nova more than once does nothing.

If you use skeletons, you should really consider adding points to skeleton mastery. Put like 12 points in skeletons to have 6, and put like 10 points in mastery. 6 strong skeletons are MUCH better than 8-9 weak ones.
when would you say it would be worth respeccing from bone necro to poison? do i need to have deaths web and other gg gear to make poison necros damage comparable to bone necro?

You missed out by refunding d3. From the dates, I assume you refunded due to the server problems at launch. The game was pretty great, although still not as good as D2

Not a critique; but why not start out with Summoning and about the time you are nearing clvl 30, you just start putting points into the Poison tree? You wouldn't even need to respec, and could save it in case you messed something up later.
I main a summoner, the hardest time for a summoner is early on bosses (especially normal Diablo) and bone makes them a lot easier, so if your end goal is to swap at 30ish summon wouldn't be ideal.
@@keldon_champion I've leveled multiple necros and every single one I've started as a summoner. The only thing you'll encounter as an issue is making sure you have decrep. Precast dc, as soon as you see it hit. Cast clay on top of diablo, assuming it hasn't already gotten in there on it's own ai, then let your army do its job, recasting decrep every few seconds to refresh.
@@MrGAMEOVER85 Well ya I do it the same way, he is not hard really more annoying really because at that level if he fire novas all your skeletons die and its just slow. Bone is just technically faster in normal is all I was saying, I usually just start as a summoner because its cruise control.

I noticed that reaching Max Block I was left with not even 1000 health before being boffed and around 1500 health after buffing myself is myself is it still better to put on is it better to put all my stats into vitality once I get enough strength and forget about the Max block with this particular shield
My first time playing D2. Just got to nightmare on my bone spear necro. I wanna respec into poison nova instead of summoner, but if it's super gear dependant, I'm wondering if I'm better off just doing summoner since it's my starter character? I'm on ps5, so I dunno if I can get the gear.
I m leveling as a summoner, got to act 5 normal but diablo was a fucking nightmare to beat, skeletons died from him in like 3 seconds, and summoning them again is the most tedious thing in the game, you have to find a ton of corpses. The lvling Is going silky smooth, but the bosses are a real pain, I fear Baal will be worse than diablo

@@RoyalTrashing that's exactly why I don't wanna go summoner. I'd rather just have a damage dealing skill, but then you have to deal w/poison immunity and the gear. Are you using iron maiden? All tge guides said it was great for bosses, bit I don't notice a lot. Seems underwhelming

Considering converting my pure summon necro to a hybrid nova. I shopped a sweet +3 skelly wand and made it into a white wand. and have a +3 +1 SM splendor. So my skellys would be mighty strong still. And convert more to pure poison once im able to find trangs belt and shield to pair with my gloves.
I'm gonna work on switching my summoner to this build. This looks like so much fun

How about Poison Immune mobs? Does the Lower resist break their resists or you have to avoid them?
So... Some enemies can have their immunes break with lower res but others..not so much such as the snakes in nihlathak lair or in throne room. As a Necro you can throw decrepify on them and let your Merc kill then, or avoid then entirely. Alternatively if you have trangs pieces on atleast 2 I think, you have access to FireWall. Which is very useful in these situations when combined with bone prison
Poison is probably the only element besides cold that works ok with sunder charms. Use a sunder charm and it will still hurt them and if it does not there is always poison explosion which does around 7 times the damage as poison nova. That works on sundered immunes, drops them like flies. It is really a very powerful build in every way. I got a kick of poisoning 8 player hell andy to death.

Little tip, don't spam PNova, dmg is over 2 seconds so wait a second before casting again. Might seem stupid but I struggled at first simply because I was spamming it not giving it time to actually deal all of it's damage. Might seem stupid but it actually made such a big difference for me, could also be I was used to playing summon necro and it was hard to retrain my brain to the new style.
If you Spam it does it make you do less damage than if you were to wait I know it would use more Mana but does it affect the damage
@@danielthomas2659 it's more that it starts the dmg over, it's over two seconds so if you spam it it's not getting the full effect, and it seems most of the dmg comes right at the end.
@@bryangast2098 I guess I'm just trying to make sure that if I feel like being lazy and holding the button-down to Spam it rather than waiting every 2 seconds to use the ability that hopefully I'm not dealing less damage over time.
I understand like you said that you don't Get the full effect from the poison Nova when you cast it Before the 2 seconds is up
But if you choose to Spam the button or the spell in this case are you only burning Mana or are you actually doing less damage over time?
What I mean by overtime is say you're fighting Diablo and you hold the button-down and Spam the spell will you kill him in the same amount of time versus if you were to hit the button and wait 2 seconds hit the button wait 2 seconds
why not Trang-Oul (maybe offhand, belt and gloves) for 25% more poison resistance reduction?

How do you deal with the high Reduced Resistances requirement you run into early hell defficulty? Its too early to actually get the gear that fixes it… 🤔 seems like you need at least greif, max lower res or death web to even get through hell defficulty
max lower res to break immunities til you have better gear thats all, there arent that much immunities you cant break as a poison necro. if its too much then corpse explode them to death
can you run an effective poison necro without death web? I find it very inefficient

I always liked weilding Grimm's Burning Dead for my Necro, or for the poison necro, one of the rare daggers (once you're high level).

played poison necro on old school D2 in preperation to D2R the past weeks. gotta say chaos sanctuary and baals guardians in hell were such a pain in the butt lol. does someone have a nice way to get through that a bit easier?
When you're fully geared, your nova will be doing around 15k dmg. You 1 shot everything in hell chaos runs like its a joke.

I miss my Poison Daggermancer from back when LoD was first released, before the poison nerf; I loaded up on poison damange charms and poked everything once and waited for minutes and they all died.

If you search list of best D2 characters. So far all has listed Barbarian lowest and Necro highest. I get paladin is probably stronger end game but Necro is really good. If not mistaken Necro and Assassin should be easiest from start to end game. PS Would you consider legit to max skeleton mastery over skeleton warrior so your revives gets strong?
summon necro is safest and easiest when you have no gear

Couldn’t you use instead of a spirit weapon, a blackbogs sherap? This gives +4 to poison nova and gives + 2 or 3 to poison dagger and poison explosion. Wouldn’t that be a better budget option than spirit
No need for plus to poison dagger or explosion. Those are irrelevant points.

Full Trang on this char is the way to go in my opinion. Cast rate isn't super relevant for a poison necro. Add the resistances, the always-walking block chance, the cool-ass ghoul graphic, aaaand that's all I need. Even the fire skills are acceptable damage, with Lower Resist doing it's job.
I think at least the Gloves and Shield are necessary. Gloves give +25% to poison damage, shield gives -%25 to enemy poison resistance with two other items. Overall, one of my personal favourite builds.
Yeah but then you give up Enigma. Trangs isn't bad as an alternative if you don't have eni though.

Is FCR as important as other casters? I think the poison damage duration is fixed so casting novas faster does no good. Maybe LR+PN combo becomes a little faster tho

U are correct, psn nec is good.. before they lowered his dmg.. u could kill a lvl 90 paladin easy with lvl 48 psn nec.
In the old days, u could get 15k nova dmg.. now thats not easy unless bramble set ups.

Best amu is mara unless u wanna go 125fcr.
Psn WILL have BIG trouble reaching 75 Light res unless u use fcr ring/Nata boots.

As usual great build. I do have a question though for the more budget of us. How do I kill poison immunes? I hit them with lower res but it barely hurts them when I nova.
Skip is one of Llama’s main tips. He teleports using a teleport charges staff to avoid most dangers in the game. He quits often in hell, if his character’s body is not handy to recover... Basically the game hands you situations that each character cannot handle. It was tuned for group play.
But they allow access to teleport, lower res, call to arms, battle orders for all classes so any character can solo.

With Trangs 3 pc on glove , belt and shield lowered psn res , It's better dmg wise than using arach and spirit I think but obviously less skill and less fcr . I always was under impression Psn necro doesnt need that much fcr . Also I always used a bramble armor and had a Tele charge staff i shopped in inventory.
A fully geared/charmed psn necro will do 15k novas. Very fun in chaos runs.
@@MarcoFromTropoja Can you explain how the charms ‘stack’ with your skill poison damage ? I was under the impression that poison kind of adds up weirdly, and doesn’t simply add up all the damage and all the ‘over X-seconds’ to arrive at a final DPS value ?
So, if my P-Nova did (let’s say) 100 dmg over 5-seconds… and I set a Poison Charm in my inventory that says “50 poison damage over 5 seconds”…. How much actual damage does my Poison Nova deal, and over how many seconds ?? 🤔
@@AlekTrev006 the poison charms don’t do anything for poison nova. You have to add +skill poison and bone grand charms. And then add poison facets to your gear. But yea position nova is over 2 seconds.

you should use holy freeze. Might does nothing for this build outside of maybe helping your skeles which are pointless to boost with so little invested in them. Holy freeze will benefit you way more. Im a summy necro player and even with 40+ skills your skeles really don't do much so getting might just to help them a lil when you only investing 20 points is kinda dumb. Having essentially a constant decripy going via your merc is way more useful here. The only argument for not using holy freeze is you lose some dead bodies for corpse exp ( but you don't lose em all and its more for clean up anyway since PN will kill basically everything as you run through the map )
