Source Coding: Information Theory & Coding #1 | ZC OCW

Information Theory is introduced by defining what information means. Having different properties in information developed the source coding theory depending on the probability of receiving the information. Then, the Entropy and other properties of information have been explained in detail while discussing their importance and efficient usage in source coding. Finally, Kraft-McMillon Inequality is explained and used in source coding as a constraint used in applying efficient source coding.
