Watching that C64 demo at The Party was incredible, it just blew the minds of everyone watching. The reaction was something like that Street fighter final viral.
@@Fularu Some of us were working on it, but after an incident with an amiga and a bottle of cola we had hardware to replace. And PCs were the way to go back then sadly.
The C64 version may not look as clean and more clunkier but it didnt miss out on any effect, thats truly impressive 👍 If you want to feel more impressed by the C64 version, go check out the Apple II version 😁
It's not a case of whether they could, but whether they should. I'll admit some of what was pulled off with the C64 conversion was quite interesting, but the rest didn't do justice to the demo. The PC version kicks the c64's ass. The PC version is still very impressive to this day.
You’re missing the point of the demoscene. If someone made a version of this for modern computers it would kick PCs ass, but it might not be very impressive. The point of these demos was to demonstrate people’s coding and artistic talent given the very limited hardware.
@@blaah4490 Try to do anything close to that on a MS-DOS computer, good luck. Sure, PCs had faster CPUs and more RAM but they didn't have hardware sprites, they didn't have any hardware scrolling support, they didn't have built in sound chips. For that demo custom hardware drivers got written, the graphics adapter was used in no-standard modes, and a lot of things a C64 can do with a few pokes had to be re-implemented completely in software, and what the MS-DOS system API offers is a joke and below what the C64 Kernal offers in many aspects.
@@GordonBraicks Well, apart from the obvious that your CPU clock was more than twice as fast, which was important in the pre-3D-graphics-card DOS era, a DX had an FPU while the SX didn't.

Yes, one of my best demo-party memories till this day
Well, the pixels may be chunky, but the party is hearty 🤣
Seeing 2nd Reality at Assembly ´93 demo combo for the first time was mind blowing experience for C64/Amiga guy at that time.
I went C64 -> 80286 -> 80486DX2 so this is really nice to see. 1986 to 1994 for me. Amazing how much progress there was every few years
I don't think the FC version is that ugly. I think they both look great. I agree that the Smash Design demo rules.
Thank you ;)
C64 version is just amazing, i am telling you bc i have seen this demo on my pc with GUS. My hat is off .
Gosh, I forgot what a Desert Dream Rip-Off this was! Anyway, good production, especially the C64 conversion!
It came out 3 years after we disbanded Kefrenz in 1994 so…
@@erebostd The Future Crew demo is a Desert Dream rip-off, not the C64 remake. I was sad to never see a Kefrens production for AGA machines.

I REALLY LOVE C64 👍🥂🎩
Future Crew original version looks better, but I think that C64 version sounds better.
Well yeah. c64 is 1mhz with 64k ram 16 colors.
@@red3y3z but amazing sid chip for sound, though I like the sound of the original on GUS
The C64 is an amazing demo for sure, for the hardware they were working with.
I just really hate the sound of the SID.
I prefer the C64, we don't need or want PC for anything
Then stop using TH-cam or any other internet services
Haha too much man that's funny😊
Great Demo

@@xcoder1122 I think you responded to the wrong message.
Recently my friend ran 2nd reality on 486sx 25Mhz and it performed worse than C64 conversion...
In the time I ran it on a 486dx2-66. Performance was amazing, don’t know about the sx.
