It took Liam, our 34 month old gib to realize that in the middle of the night with lights off I have a hard time seeing him. It doesn’t help I can walk to the bathroom only opening my eyes when handwashing afterwards. While he can run around in the dark like he’s still a kitten.
Wildlife is so amazing. All those animals' capacities that are even beyond ours. And there should be less artificial lights out there so nocturnals wouldn't be disturbed.
Nocturnal creatures are always fascinating, especially bats and owls. When the Barn Owl appeared, I was geeking out because it is the very creature of my logo and that tells you that when talking about those birds of prey, this one in particular happens to be the most mentioned and therefore, iconic; alongside the Great Horned, Great Gray and Snowy Owl. I wear this symbol with pride knowing that it is nature’s perfect assassin of the dark. 🦉❤🔥
I’ve got two opossums that wake me up every night between 1 and 4am. They both come to my room together and climb onto the bed. One burrows into the blankets and spends about 20 minutes cleaning herself before taking a nap against me. The other goes to my toes or my head and slubs me for about 10-20 minutes. Every freaking night. This morning they actually waited until 5:30 before waking me up. The rest of the night is spent following the cat wherever she goes. It gets noisy sometimes when they get stuck somewhere and start calling for help. They’re so lucky that they’re so adorable, fluffy, and affectionate. Otherwise they’d be living in the barn. 😂
Love the old photos and film clips. Poor nighttime beasties…all the light isn’t exactly good for us either. A video on the impact of human light at night would interesting and educational.Great video!
Swallows build their nests under my balcony and reuse them every year. And I've seen them hunting at 4am flying in the dark, but they use the street lights to see and hunt a bunch of moths, thermites and other bugs attracted to the lamps. Seems they learned how to use our own means to see at night, to get extra food for their chicks. No wonder why every nest is used up to 3 times per year, seems my house is a prime breeding ground for them. And I'm happy with the 24h pest control.
Love this channel, can a video on the all female lizards that have genetically diverse off spring without male lizards? As a guy it's super interesting that evolution was basically like yeah you're unnecessary.
Nighttime is so awesome. I wish we could have adaptive lifestyles that let us decide if we want to be creatures of the night or creatures of the day.. But our society is solely structured around daytime and even more then that it's focused around early morning time. It's awful. I wish we had more to choose from lol like in a sci-fi world
I can attest that Fireflies do indeed taste horrid! I once dared my stepson to eat one and he said he'd only do it if I did. We both spent the next few hours gagging.
Should you be interested in fireflies I would suggest the annual Firefly festival at the Black Caddis Ranch. in Kelletville Pennsylvania. Book your tickets early. They sell out every year. If you go tell Ken and Pegg that Patrick sent you.
Humans probably went through a nocturnal phase at somepoint during their evolution. Theres a vitamin we cant make anymore and some genes that have been turned off, and some physical characteristics that are common in animals who dont seem to have had a nocturnal phase in their evolution. Been a while since i heard about it. But just like our flight or fight response (split across the entire species, of course, and AVGed across multiple interactions) being primarily flight speaking to a large portion of our evolutionary past being prey, there are tale tell signs in our physiology that speak to a nocturnal phase. Of course, we have been daylight creatures long enough for some of that to be dumbed down and for some daylight adaptations to have re evolved or convergently evolved from other things P.S. Nevermind.... they go over this around 7:50
When I was a kid living in Florida, I had long hair…a big roach got in my hair and came apart as my Dad removed it. They are my only phobia! Just thinking about one makes my skin crawl.
I know it is outside the scope of this video, maybe even this channel, but can we take a moment to appreciate how we poor, night-blind humans have come around from assuming that nocturnal critters aren't inherently evil?
There not our ancestors evolution if not fact and the evidence behind it is fleeting and flawed. For in six days the, LORD made heaven and earth, the see and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and hollowed it.

I´m very glad you make use of those old educational films.
👍👍
Next time someone says fireflies are beautiful (they are) i'll think of this and say "It's their booty calls" 🤣🤣
"This is the sound of a hawk flying:"
(ad starts)
"Consumer's Energy..."
You guys should talk about the Nautilus! I've always been fascinated by that animal because it's basically a living fossil!! And it's Soo unique 🔥
lol.. that ending... "Action!... i guess"

Cool thumbnail. I wish all a good weekend
I have been impressed by the Comparation between the Falcon and Owl flies 😮😮😮.
Love the old 1900s clips
So that firefly scene in The The Princess And The Frog is really......🤔
It was cool how they focused on her eyes, like they rest of us do, when she said that. She has awesome eyes, a bit jealous.
Fun production in this one with the opening title, transitions and old timey clips

Were we supposed to hear that high pitched whistle? I’m really glad I wasn’t wearing headphones for that. Made my ears ring as it was.
Awesome stuff!
Nature/Biology/Evolution/Everything, is amazing

This thumbnail looks like a cover image Kendrick would use for a diss-album for Drake
That is an amazing compliment
Hi, I really enjoy this channel, and I would like to know about Banteng more.🐃
idk if theyre usually llike this, but the intro was amazing.
Awesome title the superpowers is the nocturnal!
Just imagine if we had predators that hunted us by listening for pickup lines.
#catfishing

I remember those flash cubes...
Me too. Face it, my dude…. We’re old.
Fear of the D ark is also a great song by Iron Maiden.
🤘😎
Tapetum lucidum helps for nocturnal activity. That's fine, but is there no drawback? During the day, in the bright light, isn't it bothering?
I would like to hear your thoughts on creation versus evolution sometime

I never tasted but one of my dogs did…he was not a happy camper!

Do a video about white-tailed deer!
Shoot I like being blanketed in darkness too.
I never knew owls are the stealth fighters of the bird world
2:06 Tapetum Lucidum
that thumbnail looks insane
Imagine if humans were nocturnal, then we would save electricity for lights! Oh and it might be a bit hard to sleep at night.
Nocturnal means active at night, and if humans are nocturnal we spend electricity 2x more than normal.
Nocturnal animals and people sleep during the daytime
@@Claire_mendy sorry I meant to say have night vision😅.
Animalogic: use the clapper like this
me: instructions unclear -- opened toilet seat with my teeth...
can you plz do the kiwi bird?
Lol, I thought they did a feature on HTTYD's Toothless on half a glance at the thumbnail😭
Ugh, again the misconception that synapsids were outcompeted by dinosaurs
Wait, there's an assassin bug?
bro... why does the thumbnail lowkey look like Gojo activating the domain expansion ( 👁🤞👁)
Fresh from Cali to the other side of the continent.....EMBRACE THE DARKNESS!!!!
