Prior to 1955 (and during a temporary renaming period from 1964 to 1974), the highest honour at Cannes Film Festival was the Grand Prix du Festival International du Film, which was equivalent to the current Palme d’Or, therefore we will also be including winners of the aforementioned award.
A really great video. Commentary voice-over is very informative and interesting , scenes from films are carefully selected with good editing. SUBSCRIBED! 👍🏻
Great list man although I would have put 'Taxi Driver' on top. It's one of the most powerful films ever made and it's frequently seen on every great director's list of best films. But the funny thing is that 'Taxi Driver' lost to 'Rocky' for best picture and 'Marty' wasn't even nominated for directing that year.😡
From what I have seen : 15)Dumbo 14)The tree of life 13)The white ribbon 12)The wind that shakes the barley 11)Taxi driver 10)Winter sleep 9)The square 8)Shoplifters 7)La vie d’Adèle 6)Parasite 5)The pianist 4)Paris Texas 3)Pulp fiction 2)Apocalypse Now 1)I, Daniel Blake
A lot of great films I couldn't include but here's my 10 10. Secrets And Lies (1996) 9. Viridiana (1961) 8. Pulp Fiction (1994) 7. Brief Encounter (1945) 6. The Conversation (1974) 5. Apocalypse Now (1979) 4. Sex Lies And Videotape (1989) 3. The Third Man (1949) 2. Taxi Driver (1976) NUMBER ONE: THE PIANO (1993)
Seriously dude? Literally half the list is made up of films not in the English language, likewise for the honourable mentions. If you're sore about Apocalypse Now taking top spot, you just gotta face the fact that it is the definition of a pure movie masterpiece, if it were in Vietnamese etc, it wouldn't detract for that, it doesn't matter what language it's in.

The Cranes Are Flying, La Dolce Vita, Parasite, Taxi Driver, Apocalypse Now, The Third Man and The Conversation are my personal favorites.
Thank you very much Mr Smashing UK for making this video of my favourite and beloved movies award of all time.
Dang good list of movies here, including the honorable mentions

I think Cannes Is much better that the academy awards

That’s why I don’t take Oscars serious. I’ve watched Taxi Driver probably like 10 times in one year. It was a breakthrough in my life.
Definitely one of the director's best but I personally think Raging Bull is Scorsese's and De Niro's magnum opus.

Winter Sleep is directed by our Turkish filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan :) I adore his films, he is making one right now!
I think " Taste Of Cherry " should be on honorable mentions .
Last one was expected great list

The Wages of Fear was remade in 1977 as William Friedkin's Sorcerer.
Not sure about Paris Texas compared to the honorable mentions, but a very good choice overall.
Should probably change the title to ‘top 10 Palme d’or winners ive seen’
Taxi Driver ❤️❤️
Definetely agree with the no 1 choice but The Piano should have also made the top 10
やっぱタクシードライバーとパルプ・フィクションとLA DOLCE VITAかな~
as usual a lean towards the English speaking ones
We made sure there was an equal mix of both English language and non-English films.

First
The Tree of Life should be no 1
