Comedic direction was also great for that scene. After getting his hand nearly destroyed by, correction, *Ursa,* he tries avoiding her while still doing his sales pitch, while she is silently hunting him. Waiting for a nod from Zod to crush him like the puny insect he is.

As for "finding kryptonite", it doesnt grow every corner. He wouldnt have time to do so if they kill him as soon as they beaten superman. They also lack any restraint, if Lex somehow has them in one place with a kryptonite, they can eyebeam him to death or snap his neck.
Just when I came to America from Vietnam, Superman 2 was in theater. Our family went to see this film, I was only 10yrs old then. I loved this scene so much. Gene Hackman and Reeve were the best.

He's interesting, but do we need him in _every_ Superman movie, (including the corporate substitute in _Superman III)?_ They should have called the 2006 movie, _Lex Luthor Returns._ For the next installment, he'll be coming back again.
The acting and sharp dialogue on the first 2 films is worth gold. Never been matched by any of the remakes even with the tens of millions thrown at it on special effects .
Absolutely....I mean he special effects were just a bonus attraction. The acting was superb. The way they used their bodies and voices to draw you in. Now we have special effects over load 🤣.
All due respect to Sarah Douglas and Jack O' Halloran who were great but Terence Stamp and especially Gene Hackman owned this scene, their characters are the complete opposites in terms of the type of villain they are but yet they worked so well together. Fantastic performance from two of the best actors in movie history
The first true big screen supervillain team up (not counting Batman ‘66). The irony is that they have a lot in common; they both love the sound of their own name, repeatedly speaking in the third person. They have beautiful right hand women, and buffoonish but useful henchmen. One hates the father the other hates the son. So similar but SO different.
