I used them to guard my ladders in hourglass! My enemies could never board my ship. (But my newbie open crew sailed my ship out of bounds to give them a win.)
Honestly i kind of feel like the better players may not utilise the traps around their anchor, because they realise that if the enemy boarder is stupid enought to beeline for the anchor and have 3 blunderbusses pointed at them, they know that they can probably win regardless if they use the traps or not
I really like to use the trap when I board, I kill them both (on a sloop), I set a trap on the stairs where they are bucketting and then I hide behind the map. a really cool way to use the trap and it's pretty satisfying and even more with blunderbombs and bonecallers. 👌
While hanging on the side of a sloop I managed to put a trap with a grog ball behind a guy on the wheel. He threw up hit an island and somehow sank in the confusion, I felt kinda bad, but it was hilarious to watch 😂
Something I find fun is when I am hiding and make sure players know I'm hiding, I bait people to look for me and trigger traps instead of finding me. Best spot is in the Reapers Hideout people think I'm hiding behind the table (when I'm wall hiding while phasing through one of the curtains), so using this thought I can trap the dark part of the path up there they always hit it.
I had some fun putting traps down along the "usual" route at reapers after seeing a fotd pop off 4 times while i puttered around seeing what actually worked after the update. I managed to snag 3 of the cofs and sell before getting sent to the ferry.
So, very very new to SoT.. so mainly PVEing... I actually like using them against bosses and mini bosses. Skelly Captains and the Ashen Lord takes a good amount of damage from a blunderbomb in the trap
Here’s a fun trick: If you can place them close enough together next to the ladder, place a firebomb in the one closest to the ladder and a blunderbomb in the one farthest They’ll trigger the first trap and get set on fire and dealt moderate damage, then the second one will go off and deal even more damage and send them flying. They usually either die to the second trap or burn to death midair
I like to put a trap loaded with a blunderbomb close to a teammate's cannon. Obviously they are smart enough to not step on it, but if I hit them onto it with a second blunderbomb it's a funny instant kill.
I like the idea if hiding it under your tressure on the bow, so it the try to hide as a chest in your pile, you will know. If your at a Fort, maybe use a flare or fireworks so you will see it, or a bone caller thingy.
I've been putting blunder traps under the rug in the cabin. It's nearly hidden and it's fairly unexpected. Also, I've found you can toss traps inside the masts. This has zero value, because I can't recover them or set them off, but it's interesting that it's an option.
I feel like this is really the only effective way to use traps. The only use case on islands i can think of is if someone attacks you mid fort if you have the time you can setup traps to give yourself a little bit more time to do something before they get your loot, but that requires setup time and I can't see it making a difference in the end
I personally like to put a trav with a flare in the crows nest or ither tucking spots when I am off the ship. Well. I would at least if they didn't despawn randomly
You obviously don't play HG galleon - what you show at the outpost, placing traps on top of the ladder: 1st of cannonball hits will trigger traps, meaning your crewmates will get more damage than actual border! 2nd it is way better to place traps inside captain's quarters as they do not trigger easily and borders mainly play that or balcony (also great spot but only left side as right side broad will get triggered) 3rd don't place at anchor, because MC get's knockback into that area if they don't dodge well! Hope my comment will help someone! While the "theory" of the traps in this video is good, the practical advise needs some work!
how do you use traps?
I like setting them with fireworks, good way of letting me know someone's around XD
I put them around the my opponent
S anchor during hour glass
SPADES223
throwing them at the ground while being sworded to death

I've been throwing one under the loot pile with a grog ball. Nothing like seeing your crew mate suddenly projectile vomiting as they fall of the ship
I like putting curseballs in traps on the ladder. Really funny to see pirates get drunk or start dancing when they board.

Put the firework trap on both your ladders so if someone boards while your on an island a flare will be shot up.
I like to board peoples boats and scatter them around. It makes being able to stay on someones boat a bit easier. Very good for hourglass.
My friends are going to get trapped more than people trying to board if I put them at the top of the ladder 😂

Making a warning flare on the ship while doing world events is super super fun

I've been using them as "sneaky boarder alarm" when Im on the island. Trap + Redflare at ladders.

bro won big
I like using them in the towers when I do skeleton forts so far it's been fairly successful
I put them in the stairs of a sloop (down) when the owners are dead during a fight. It's great for spawn camping and prevent them to bucket or recover
When going any fort for example fotd use a fire work to let you know there’s people on your boat
You could lowkey set up traps under an opponents anchor after you drop it so they get stunned when they lift it or waste time destroying the trap
I like setting traps with blunder bombs because it’s great boarding defense
So, very very new to SoT.. so mainly PVEing... I actually like using them against bosses and mini bosses. Skelly Captains and the Ashen Lord takes a good amount of damage from a blunderbomb in the trap
quit before its too late bro game is ass
@ChadFatty87 that's upsetting.. haha... I quite enjoy playing the game.. well, I do rate ass over booba too.. yay for me
I love to use them for ship defense and around areas that players frequently use to have a little fun, like at the tavern or so
I like to put fireworks in the traps when doing a fort of the damned so if someone boards everyone knows, sort of like an alarm

Haven't been able to try it out yet but I want to try putting some in the fort of fortune / of the damned vault entrance to catch tuckers!

For pvp hg because on a sloop at the ladders you can place creat so that they can't see the traps when they get up there
I've been having a blast using bonecallers with traps
On a sloop I put traps behind the map table.
I put the trap on staircase with a blunder bomb so it hits the keg behind the stairs
Best use for these traps has been trolling crew mates hands down

I just use with fireworks for early butglar alarm
Add the trap to the ship’s steering wheel! It gets stuck in there.
I have been watching them despawn.
Traps are best for trolling IMO just leave them around enemy ships while tucking it's hilarious.
The best use I've found for traps is liking, subscribing and commenting on this video for a chance to win serpent sails.
Place them on the ships of others
serpent silly sail
They keep despawning for me 😭
Fireworks and traps are just too pretty not to like.
I use them with fireworks to warn me of boarders/tuckers when I'm off the ship.
