My big issue is in the emporium and I understand people trying to defend their choices by saying they need money for the game but that doesn't explain why they're going even harder with the emporium after they just got an influx of cash from the PlayStation players joining
And recolors of emporium. Very sad

Hey so all the damages for the weapons were like really off, sword is a 4 hit at full health how can it only do 20 damage and the knife stab is an 8 hit so how does it do 15…
The double barrel pistol buff has allowed you to 2-tap when paired with the flintlock. Since the flintlock does 55 damage, previously if you hit someone once with each weapon, it'd leave them on 5 health (55+40=95 damage). Now that the double barrel does 5 extra damage, it will fully kill a player. And with the buffed hipfire to boot, you can really become a close range gunslinging pirate. Honestly sounds like a super fun loadout.
Curses should be earnable only, I really dislike that they added curses to the emporium
Maybe keep some curses behind an unlock wall and make some lower quality curses for lazy players imo. Frankly I don’t care because I don’t buy form the emporium. I just enjoy the game.

If you've been playing this game for 4 years, that means you paid $15 each year for a great game that you enjoy. That seems reasonable to me. I don't like the paid curses at all either, but this was an L take right here

Just because they need revenue to keep the game running doesn’t mean they need to take something that was previously, for lack of a better term, ‘special’ and put it behind a paywall… Not that it will matter tbh, players that use the emporium curses will receive even more shit than normal emporium cosmetics and will be seen as a joke by established players. You’ll have the occasional pirate using an emporium curse ironically, but it’s the same as ironic emporium items or ironic default cosmetics lol. I wouldn't go as far to defend paid curses, but mate you have to recognise that this game has been constantly updated ever since 2018.
Not only that but all the microtransactions are purely cosmetics.
I'm not extatic about paid curses as I get that they were meant to represent something special but get a grip of reality and just appreciate a nice game that only sells you non-gameplay-affecting cosmetics
Its live service. Sea of thieves has always been about specifc things as showing how good you were anyways.
Some ship skins look much better from the Emporium than from grinding the ships, but we all know that it indicates a noobiness. Theyre just moving that same thing to curses and skins. We'll all know whos good and bad from their skins still. No big deal. They need to make the money.
I use the knife and double barrel pistol, so I'm really glad they buffed it. Now, I can actually use the knife's melee to finish somebody off.
Except statistically you will already be dead because the other guy hit his shots with more powerful weapons.

The one emporium recolour I would buy is an Athena keg version of the barrel bombardier. Though I would insist that they lower the pistol in first person so you can actually see what you're aiming at.
I like curses being in the limited time Plunder Pass, showing you played during a "time" Emporium curses shouldn't be a thing.
FOMO paid curses are so much worse then emporium curses lmao wtf. Maybe a time limited curse sure but FOMO paid items are the worst addition to any game ever
I love things being time limited like this, but it’s so annoying that after a while anything cool limited time from plunder passes ect ends up in the emporium later on or people who missed something complain and rare re-add it. Season 1 PL curse has been ruined by being re-added as a reward for reaching 105 alliance with guardians
And they need to fix the movement speed problem when switching from "throwing" a knife to putting the knives away, to sprinting. Instead of being able to sprint out, it just puts the knife away and slows you down as though you're still trying to throw a knife.
To improve the throwing knifes they should make them instakill backstab and be able to jump while charging (main spy right here)

The emporium is not necessary - it's purely optional. Either support their game or choose to get the free curses. There's still plenty to do.

Curses in the emporium is too far. I got the OOS curse back when it came out and that grind gave me some of the most defining moments to what I wanted to do in sea of thieves. It showed me a large variety of crews, different corners of the community, forced me to explore the map, and gave me information about the setting. Despite the mundaneness of the curse it has become a signature piece of my outfit and ive sworn to get every curse. I dont think everything should be as tedious but those types of experiences is what sea of thieves is truly about. About the stories it gives you.
Recently i came back to the game for the season and in the end I am happy I did but the reason i came back was because of the stone curse. My first few days back I dreaded being on the seas forced to grind through the pass in order to obtain a curse not only locked behind money but a time limit too. The grind was the only thing that made it remotely ok but now theyre just throwing them in the emporium? No!
With a game that’s so cosmetically based I would never wear a paid curse coz it means nothing

as a new player (like 2 weeks old) i learnt that most of this game special cosmetics (ike becoming a skeleton) were only earnable from completing in game tasks. i really liked this as it rewards the dedicated players but seeing the cosmetics here... this aint it rare.
I love the storm curse, it’s absurd to put that in the emporium though that would have made a fantastic one for some special commendation or quest. As much as I love it I probably wouldn’t get it even though any ancient coins I have I got without paying for them

This is how you do game balance for things like this. If you have to choose between nerfing or buffing, always choose buff.
Don't see it as something is too strong, see it as the other two are lagging behind and improve.
This is incredibly black and white thinking. There would definitely be situations where only buffing would screw with the integrity of the gameplay and it would instead be beneficial to nerf something else. Not saying I disagree with what's going on here but the, "only buff things, and never nerf things" mentality is pretty dumb to be frank

Honestly, having more curses would be nice. Maybe in the future, we could be able to equip 2 curses at once. Like the Stone Curse and the Ashen curse to make you look like molten stone.

at first i didn't like the emporium having curses either, but i kinda thought it thorough and it's probably gonna just gonna end up like the ashen or sunken sorrow curse, which are like the "new player curses". i'm more worried about the recolours. even tho i don't really like using most emporium cosmetics as they don't show your journey through the game like normal cosmetics do, people still need to buy them for the servers to be up. lazy recolours might make emporium look more like a moneygrab than the kind of premium sets and a non p2w way to monetize the game that it used to be looked at as, which might make it less profitable
They need to increase the projectile speed of the double barrel pistol.
I dont mind curses in a paywall as long as they dont add anything to your gameplay and also keep curses in the shop and game separate. (Curses available through gameplay are never available in shop and vicd versa) That way, players can tell who's a pay shill and who actually worked for their curse. Lol

Wish I had more customization options while donning my Spinal costume. And no, I don't wear it as a cheap way to pretend I have the Skeleton Curse; I just grew up with Killer instinct and love to represent something from Rare's past
They work with some of the outfits, if it looks like it has its own curse like ice or something then it won’t work but if it’s just clothes it will work
The throwing knife should be a one-shot with the heavy attack into the back. I just wish it was more viable for pvp

I always thought the ship speeds were like this:
Sloop fastest against the wind
Galleon fastest directly with the wind (deadrun)
Brigantine fastest in a broad reach (wind at 45° behind you)
did I miss any changes over the last few seasons? (I play on and off every few months)
Another curse that you can only get by paying? I thought it'd take a little longer but I'm not surprised.

I don’t mind the some curses in the emporium, it’s not like they are adding the earn-able ones to the emporium! They are adding new one that are part of emporium sets to emporium! The Storm curse fits in perfectly to the Storm Chaser set. The stone one fits in with the Medusa themed set. I would love to see more curses that can be earned through game play, but if you don’t want to use real money to get the emporium stuff you don’t have to.
The main issue more of the fact that opening the door to emporium curses means that earnable curses are possibly going to be put on the back burner, with all new good curses going straight to the emporium.
The main example of this is what happened to ship trinkets, I don't know about you but I haven't seen any new ones for about a year now except for in the emporium.
To finish, I don't mind curses in the emporium, but if Rare keep adding them at this rate then there will be more emporium curses than earnable ones, causing the curses to lose their valuable status in a game where cosmetics are the only form of progression.

I was sick of a brig always flying behind me like he's being pulled. It was always so unfair. Im against the win and the brig speeds past me
They know these packs will make a quick buck. A lot of people want to be a skelleton without putting in the work. I've been noticing that the costume dripped players suck more than normal dressed pirates and legends. This might just be my experience tho.

Rare wanted noobie 3 man teams to fight experienced sloops for example. They wanted to try and make it fun for the first wave.
Blunderbuss is too strong for anyone to swap it out, sword mobility is good but not as balance breaking as 100% damage with 1 button press.

I've always thought this games cosmetics were pretty bad all across the board. I pretty much just wear pants, and a belt 😅 rare is definitely taking advantage of the new player base with their current monetization strat. This game is all about the curses, they want new players to feel 'special' too

Idk. I use the warsmith shipset and costume but i def agree the dire warsmith is far better even if its a recolor. Recolors arent a bad thing in and of itself long as they dont stop making other new sets too. Diff peeps prefer diff color visuals. Dire warsmith would also go better for tucking too as would the ship set too

If they put these curses, they have to make it earnable, like an athena or hunter commendation. Right now i feel the athena cosmetics are lacking, maybe put a way to buy premium cosmetics or even exchange gold with ancient credits (100 000 gold for 10 ancient coin) in the athena hideout
they need to add new curses for PVE
In my opinion, the emporium is merely optional, and they give you a choice to buy the paid cosmetics for their game or earn the free items in game, and I don't really care about how people are complaining about the Emporium, because it's supposed to be a way of funding the devs to make good content updates, and people just don't get that the emporium is there for that reason, you don't have to buy anything from the emporium, it's optional, and when you choose to buy an item, your helping the devs make the game better so think of it that way instead of accusing Rare of being greedy.
Another thing, I think the nerf on the brig's speed is a good thing, because that was a problem for nearly 6 years since Cursed Sails from 2018, and as a solo sloop player, it's a good thing for me because I'll always catch up to runners, and it will help me in hourglass.
The fact it's a fullprice game should "fund the devs" enough, the fact they said and i quote "curses will never be paid for" and are going back on it is scummy as fuck 😂. Atleast have the decency to go free to play before pulling this crap

The emporium has gotten awful. With curses now being a normal thing in the shop i can only imagine Skeleton curse cosmetics will be added next. The ship sets have gotten lazier and lazier on top of this. remember when collector figureheads all came with some sort of effect, be it a rainbow, or some flowing gold from a cup or some moving hands, now all we get is a slightly different pose or the figurehead being coloured instead of a single colour.
Don't recall the brig ever being faster than the sloop against the wind with dummy sails... Good video otherwise. ✌

When it comes to curses in the shop, I don’t see an issue for the average player who can’t sink thousands of hours to get 1000 levels in hourglass for both sides to unlock those specific curses. Most players will never own those and most players who do are overly toxic.
Curses are rare cuz of hard achievements and someone would just buy it with real money😭

As someone that owns a majority of the emporium I think adding curses is a terrible idea. It's like... they don't play their own game. A majority of the people playing are grinding for a curse, if you take that away by making it feel cheap and ez no one will care. They can change the damage on those new weapons all they want, no one is gonna rely on a throwing dagger or a clunky double barrel to defend their loot when the blunder and eye of reach exist. This new curse should have been given to Legendary Hunters but I genuinly think rare hates it's veteran players.

You realize devs can't keep a game running for free forever 😂. The development team needs revenue to keep the game running. With the release on PlayStation, they got an influx of new players and new customers. SOT was on a STEADY DECLINE before this. The new release gave the game a much needed boost in players... not to mention bringing back some old players. At this point, SOT needs to make money anyway it can. I myself don't like it, but I can see why they're doing it. They're riding the wave while they can.

I feel if you've played the game for long enough you would have acquired a good amount of ancient coins from the money bag skellies. Dont understand why everybody is so salty about buying a curse, instead of grinding a tall tale you're grinding ancient coins on adventures.
It's just that people can shortcut it with money and, anyway, it's a bullsh!t grind. My friend has 800 hours on the game and only got 400 ancient coins from skeletons, that's so few for so long.

I used to participate in the twitch drops back in the beginning, but as the drops got more and more repetitive and they asked you to sit there for longer and longer amounts of time and the platform became less and less free speech centered. And I'm not fucking surprised. The game was released on PS and of course the developers are trying to make money on skins, but damn, how cheap it is. They simply added existing skins, but changed the color. I don't like the trend that developers have been following lately. they add a camisole and a pair of sabers for in-game currency and a whole bunch of all sorts of ugly skins for real money. It's just awful.
Its wild to me that you think sword is meta. Common yes, of course, but meta... ok.

You have to look at it differently than you are. Swords can block attacks, are the only weapon you don't need to reload, and they allow you to sword lung a good distance. Seems like they're nerfing all the weapons to be more balanced, the blunderbuss will have its day in court too.

Yes, game should make money, but we already paid for this game, we already paying for battlepass and what are we getting, more empoirum shop 6 items every update, for free shop take these 3 recolors.. They added items for 100e in this update and did almost nothing for everyone.
They are just lazy and trying to milk players with minimum effort.
Now they locking curses behind paywall like they means nothing just other skin for other part of the body.
They just started again digging their own grave like 2 seasons ago, even streamers stopped playing because there was only emporium and there was nothing new in game, now YEAR OF FLAMEHEART and we got nothing, no adventure, no event, nothing just CGI trailer its too hard for them to be creative.
They just doing it next time bcs players forgot what happened 1 year ago.
