Installed mine in my i30 nline premium about a week ago. Removed the factory valve from the top relatively easily, but tightening the hex bolts on the GFB was a PITA. Ended up removing the large diameter horizontal TB hose which made things easy. Adjusting isnt that easy when the cap is slick. Took a fair amount of skin off the knuckles doing it. Great channel Justin
I'm having constant flutter, not only during low rpms but every time I left off the gas. Any suggestions on fixing this? I tried adjusting the spring, my boost solenoid is working fine.
If you are hearing flutter chances are the valve is not opening properly and the noise is coming from the air being forced back into the turbo. I would make sure the spring isnt too tight and everything is working correctly.
They have this for the Elantra N. It I heard some bovs can cause over fueling, stalling and other issues. I’ve been looking at SXTH HKS forge and GFB PLEASE HELP!
I believe blow off valves are used to adjust how much boost the turbo makes before it vents. Different internal BOV springs have different stiffness which affects how much boost builds before it vents. It can certainly increase power but you REALLY want your car tuned to the boost level. Most people install a BOV because it sounds really cool. Looking at a 2020 N-line myself here soon! 🥰
I m looking to install a valve like you did, on my 1.4 turbo. I already remap thé ecu last month. If i change the valve, i need to remap one more time ?
Yep. My dealership told me they can void it if they want. If not, have them install it. BUT, they'll still have to prove that specific part ruined your engine.
Off the car not very hard at all. On the car it is a little tricky getting your hand in the right spot but not difficult. Just remember it only turns so far in both directions.
Sort of. Its a recirculation valve which vents back into the intake system. I consider BOV to be venting to atmosphere so you actually hear it. You can sort of hear the stock one but its not meant to be heard.
You can't really tell when it's installed per say. That is one complaint I have with it. I had one off the car a couple weeks ago and it wasn't even when it was spun so it was 50/50 closer to one direction or the other if that makes sense.
Flutter is the result of not having any blow off valve. You would delete the blow off valve all together at both ends (pre and post turbo). It's then enhanced by changing the intake pipe to a metal type.
Justin would you recommend this mod if the goal was better throttle response? I don't care about the noise so I would probably go for the Mach 2 rather than the Response. GFB claims 30% quicker boost and better throttle response but that is for the fully recirculating version which I don't know if you've run yours fully recirculating but would you agree with their claims? At $240 I want to know if it's worth the investment.
I dont think you'll get 30% better throttle response out of this part unless your stock BPV was failing. Maybe its a little better but I didn't notice anything throttle wise that I can recall but my car is pretty new.
If you're under the impression fully recirculating will improve throttle response, keep the stock valve. It already fully recirculates back into the intake. This would be a pointless upgrade.
@@JustinKelly Very true. Although if not needed and still under warranty, can give them a reason to deny claims. Since they cause so many CELs on the Elantra Sport I won't be getting one until I get closer to the end of my warranty. They do no damage, but a CEL is the last thing I want to deal with in CA. :P
@@VanillaWahlberg No CEL here. I think if it gets bad enough there are drivability issues along with the OEM valve which some people get fixed and others dont.
I assume if you roll into the dealer with this installed you can kiss warranty goodbye? I just bought the exact car you have and I'm worried about mods/warranty. dealer basically said even a CAI would screw me.
No. I work at a hyundai dealership as a service tech and we typically don't care about mods as long as you don't open up the engine or overwrite the factory tune. Chip tuning is fine, since it isn't permanent. As long as the mods don't cause any parts to fail, you'll keep the warranty. It just depends on the dealer, some are mod friendly and some aren't.
They have to prove the mod you installed caused a certain part to fail. You could install a CAI and maybe MAF fails or the turbo starts having issues, they have to prove the mod you installed caused those to fail tho. And a CAI is easy to install and remove. Just swap it for the factory one when you bring the car in for service.
@@theflukey4114 I know the dealership I went to for service definitely will void. I had severe oxidation on spoiler to point of near cracking. The service manager wanted it in the stall twice to slap essentially Armor-All on it so they can slide on painting it under warranty. And after 2 hours of that, it was the manager decision. Rediculous for something obvious. Too much info im reading so far regarding if bov's deteriorate turbos, I don't know what to believe. I posted videos (on this account) yesterday on the bov spring adjustments from stock to 3 turns tight and saw not much difference. But according to GFB video of their engineer showing spring adjustment, he mentions at end it should only open about 3mm Bov spring setting th-cam.com/video/KgGRfR6jt-c/w-d-xo.html So I need to contact them and find out what's a normal, safe setting. @@Roadsurfer2k11 If the BOV is opening mid boost, WOT, you need the spring set to a stronger pressure. The thing is though, all these 1.6T's don't seem to like anything but the factory diverter valve. Not really sure why other than maybe because the spring is so soft and lets boost out at the slightest decrease of throttle pressure.
I have have wall of speakers in my velo it's a 17 with 18k miles they gave me a new engine with all the stuff I have modified..federal law says they have to prove that specific part caused the malfunction
Not necessarily but it has better boost recovery between shifts which may mean ever so slightly faster but not noticeably. Its more driving characteristics that are improved.

Hey man how does the car sound with the BOV and is ur car the 1.6Turbo?
Just got my GT N and I'm happy with it. Found your channel and now I'm subbed. Thanks for posting your videos.

what size hose came with your GFB if you don't mind? thinking I need a longer one for my bov
