I visited the Blue Hole in 1962 at 9 years old. It is an experience I will never forget. There were many large fish swimming in the streams and the water was beautiful
As a kid in the early 1960s in Columbus, Ohio, there were a handful of summers when we would drive up to a beach at Lake Erie. Along the way it was almost mandatory that we would stop at Blue Hole and also Mystery Hill.
Thank you for doing such a great job of putting to rest some of the legends of how it was found. My mom told me the team of horses and the farmer disappeared in it. She will be surprised when I tell her it wasn’t true.

As a kid and only living about 15 minutes away. We visited all the time. I remember the dancing chicken they had out front. You paid a quarter.
There is a blue hole near Hillsdale Michigan on us 12, Marble Springs Campground...
Why did it close?
Word spread that it was actually nothing but a tourist trap. And there is the free one right nextdoor.
Fun fact, earth's early oceans may have been like the blue holes, barely any oxygen, no life, etc.
