Goldmary have one of the highest def growths in the game, so if you decide you don't want her as a hero then you can just make her a great knight and she litteraly won't take damege later in the game (exept for mag attacks), and then you can make anyone else a hero.
By the way, a recomendation for the next character, jean, the doctor child, there's a way to use his personal skill and get 80% growth rate on either str or mag stats with fixed growths or a 100% growth rate with the dlc with fixed growths: His personal skill work differently on random and fixed growths. On random growth: it roll any stat he didn't level up a second time to try again. On fixed growth: it doubles the growth of the class you give him. So on fixed growth (the standard for maddening), if you give him a class with 30 growth in a stat, like berserker have, it will count as 60 growth, + his base 20 str growth it becomes 80 growth, but if you use tiki on him, it adds another 20, leading to a 100 growth, becoming litteraly impossible for that stat to not level up.
@@Varsona but that's for fixed growths, so it's not rng, on random growth mode it doesn't double the class growth, it just try again, so in random it would be the base stat, like his 20 str, +30 from berserker, +20 from tiki, and then it would be 2 rolls of 70% on random, only on fixed mode you reach the 100 growth.
Even though I have quite a few Brave Assist heroes on my team, I actually found Goldmary does better in a different class. I needed a lance user on my team and noticed that her bases as a Wyvern are just better than Rosado's, so I reclassed her and added her in, thinking she'd be pretty average. She's actually been one of my absolute best units and it didn't take that much investment: I gave her Sigurd, which helps her low build and gives her free Canter, as well as boosts her damage with Momentum. She comes with a whopping 1800 SP, and we don't even need to give her Canter, so instead we'll invest it in Speedtaker for 2000 SP (shouldn't be too long after she joins) and then can use the remaining SP that trickles in to buy Spd +1/2/3/etc. With an improved Build stat, she can use a nice hefty forged Silver Lance This build has been insanely good for me - hits super hard, doubles almost everything, incredible bulk, and very dodgy as well Also, since she's one of the characters that doesn't join until post Ch 10, she's one of the better candidates for Sigurd since she can't buy canter early - for how good this build has been for me, it's felt pretty low-investment
Currently playing through Maddening and I reclassed two of the filler lategame prepromotes to Hero just for that. 2 heroes with dual assist + Zelkov with Lucina's ring = always 2-3 free chain attacks that can also inflict poison. It's amazing
Saphir is pretty solid from when she joins you, but I benched her instantly so I’m not really sure what she’s capable of. Her personal skill’s pretty nice though.
Interesting build. In the middle of my maddening run, right before mid game starts. May do this with someone…maybe not GoldMary though. I thought Hero was trash tho per what everyone says lol
@@cG17Nah those guys don't know what they are talking about. Hero and Warrior are probably the best infantry units in this game on maddening, and definitely way better than their single weapon counterparts (sword master & berserker). Best to also run a thief with Lucina ring for free poison stacks. The chain attack true damage is so good and is a lot of extra damage on maddening. The best part is that the chain attacks are really just extra, Heroes still do very respectable damage, have decent defenses & speed, and also access to 2 weapons which is really valuable. Plus, the characters that you want to promote to Hero (Lapis, Kagetsu, Diamant) are all inherently speedy with good speed growths already.
@@cG17 these people are only looking at raw stats and not thinking about raw strats. Suffice to say. As a Fire Emblem player. You should know what to prioritise. Like bro its pretty self evident. No matter how good your tank is. If the enemy AI has a whole bunch of stacked back up units. They'll shred through all your armours and frontliners regardless of their avo or def.
Made a similar build. Hero+Brave assist+, Rally Spectrum+, Michaiah. Unit never attacks directly. Just heal or rally and support the team further with double chain attacks. I find Merrin has one of the better person skills for this ultimate support set up. Luckily Chrom is a spammable bond ability, Lucina isnt too bad with bond shield spam, but this definitely takes time to aquire both parts.
If you have the DLC Soren with Bolting on a Hero is also incredibility potent because of bolting's 3-10 range even before dual assist. However Dual Assist can allow you to hit 1-2 range enemies from your hero soren and everything 11- 15/16+ [if boots] squares away
I use Goldmary for this set up although she's more a tank and i might pair the twins ring for her to absorb back some hp during her turn. Btw, your Martial Master Chloe build was insane. My Chloe is so fun to use now thanks to that!
I use Goldmary with Eirika as a Great Knight and she is incredibly tanky. Eirika's skills make her self-heal when engaged, and she has nice damage reduction from Eirika even when not engaged. She also has Arms Shield and Great Knight's class skill for more damage reduction. Hell, with this build she's been eating zeroes on Maddening with her insane defense, and can kinda stand up to magic with her double digit res stat (sorry Louis lmao)
If I was to do a Healer, hero class on Goldmary I would probably do Goldmary on Hero(obviously), use the skills Staff Mastery 5 and Duel Assist+ and put on Michaih, Staff Mastery 5 helps Goldmary heal for more and have more hit on her stave skills like Fracture, Freeze, or Entrap. Interesting build even if I do prefer Hector on her.
I prefer Goldmary with Leif, if you do these combo you had access to the whole weapon triangle. The abiliti of always use the weapon with advantage against your opponent make her a really busted unit.
winning the weapon triangle is usually niche without a warrior, you don't do more dmg, you just do damage safely witch isn't very useful most of the time. if you wanted her to be more tank Hector or Ike would be better.
I just run her as a great knight and face tank every enemy with Tiki/Ike bond ring. It's easier and requires minimal investment in skill inheritance. She also has decent resistance (mine caps without even using second seals and talisman)
Most of Micaiah's utility would be wasted on a unit like Goldmary who is a tanky unit meant to be on the frontlines and has trash Magic growths. Micaiah's ring would be better used for units with better Magic growth and fights with 2-3 range so they can make good use of Sacrifice and Micaiah's Tomes. Goldmary would be better off reclassing to Great Knight and pairing with Leif, Roy, or Ike. Goldmary has the highest Defense growth in the game, but also has the lowest Speed growth. She won't be double attacking anyone in Maddening mode, much better to reclass her to a tanky class like Great Knight to make better use of her Defense growth and coverage for enemy units double attacking her due to her low Speed growths.
I do agree that for maximum michaiah; someone with more magic growths would be better. This build is less so focused on Goldmary but moreso the potential of the hero class itself; ideally anyone you make a hero can run this and be ultra useful with all the utilities mentioned. Since I don't have Michaiah myself yet; I prefer running Tiki on Goldmary for the Frontline capabilities & ability to heal to full on "wait" for the hero class skill guarantee. I do enjoy Ike on Goldmary as well! But prefer him on someone even more synergistic 😉
@@Varsona yeah if your gonna use Micaiah I would probably use Staff Mastery so she can actually heal. I'm partial to putting Hector on goldmary myself. Helps with her trash speed, and being a heroic class you shouldn't reach high enough def where the enemy ignores you.

After a moment's thought and looking at her growths. with 25 dex/speed/res. but with a 55 def. She might actually be a terrible hero. her personal skill is great for causing misses. If you want a unit that can brave assist. You might wanna use Lapis who has 55 speed. But if you really wanna make it work. Because frankly Goldmary is far better used as a frontline assist dps focus. While another unit can be better utilised as a alt healer (like your dancer).
I love Tiki as an alternate like you mentioned instead of michiah. Tiki's lifesphere is amazing for keeping heroes at 100% hp while positioning for more chain attacks
@@Varsona that is indeed a good alt way to make that work. It also helps to have her near lapis who gives free 10 hit/avo to allies while it minuses Lapis's crit Out of the two though... Dual assist is a solid choice and quality time I'd thematically add to her due to her... camilla-ness.
This is definitely not the best maddening build you can run. Chain attacks can be decent but there are much stronger hyper aggressive and hyper sustain team comps/unit builds. Honestly I found Goldmary underwhelming on maddening, there is no reason to invest in her. Her bases are so/so, her starting stats aren't that strong, and she has speed problems. Goldmary has 25% speed growth which is VERY BAD, 30% STR growth. 17 starting STR and you get her in CH 16, starting speed of 20 as enemies are averaging 18-25 speed. By this time you could have units like Chloe, Ivy, Alear, Anna, Jean, Merrin, Kagetsu, semi or fully snowballed into hard carries that have high speed and dominate, it only gets worse from there she will never be fast enough to catch up to most of these units so ultimately she just becomes a chain assist bot with low damage/speed herself.
I don't disagree; but would definitely recommend players to use whoever they want for their team. This build isn't specific to Goldmary or Michaiah and I should have clarified that more strongly; she is just the default hero given which is why she is the mascot of this build.
@@Varsona No worries haha. I like Lapis even though she's objectively worse than Kagetsu. Hero is definitely a fun thing to build a team around, though getting dual assist+ on multiple units will cost a ton of SP.
Or you make the meme, full team of Hero's with Dual Assist+. Which is actually viable. Even on smaller maps with only 8 characters, that essentially means you always have a high chance to get 14 chain attacks. 70% chance for each 2 chain attacks to happen and you only need 5 to activate to kill an enemy if they all hit. Chain Attacks care nothing for the attack/speed or other stats of the character. They deal a flat 10% true damage with an 80% Hit Rate. Of course, when more trigger, you have an even higher chance for those chain attacks to get enough to kill. Even if they don't net you the kill, your character still gets their attack in there as well, meaning even less actually need to be able to hit. Chain Attacks also trigger even if the character has already been used that turn. So if they're all moving in a group, then each one has a chance to get all those chain attacks to trigger. No need for forged weapons or even levels for that matter. Give the Hero's 1-2 range weapons and if they're in range, guaranteed double Chain Attack instead of needing to chance on Dual Assist+ activation to ensure they get hits in. The only thing you would need to worry about would be enemy turns and you being poor at positioning that you're in range to be killed (given you're underleveled and undergeared so as not able to take the hits....).
It’s mainly for random support and miciah self heal something that can easily be handled with by another unit aka Hortensia or any class that can use a staff. Imo just stick another emblem on her
chain attacks really need to be looked at by the balance team... when you can 1 cycle even sombron on maddening using just chain attacks because your entire team is capable of doing nearly 2,000% true damage, 80% hit rate, ignore passives, defense, avoidance damage that is entirely independent to your actual stats, weapon type/refinement/engravement that attacks before your actual character hits... is a problem. it genuinely just felt like i had cheat codes on for the second half of the game when all my characters swapped to backup and into heros with deirdre rings because even if you need your 1 staff user they're using lucina's ring to also be able to chain attack... it's a mystery to how they think this shit would be even remotely balanced.
Position a backup unit where if you wanted to; you would be able to attack the enemy. So if you have a iron sword equipped to goldmady for example; put her next to the enemy you want her to chain attack and fight that enemy with a different unit
I don't know if I'd say this is really a "build" in the first place. It's really just the combo of Hero and Brave Assist. I think if you really want to make a build out of this, I'd recommend Hortensia with Micaiah to double down on the support aspect. Still, I was actually planning on doing a run next playthrough where my entire team (or almost) are heroes to really abuse this.
the thing is u take really too long to have marth and goldmary at the same time....in like ch 23 u finally have both ? so .... yeah how to inherit any marth skill? goldmary alone its on ch 17
Goldmary recruits on ch16, but yes, you cannot set her up and use her until ch17. But why mention Marth? Lucina is the one with Dual Assist and you get her in ch11. In other words, you can set Goldmary up as a Dual Assist Hero as soon as you get her. Though... you can also set up any other character as a Dual Assist Hero as soon as you get Lucina without waiting for Goldmary......
The skills you need to make this happen take too long to earn so this is only possibly good in the last couple chapters of the game. Maybe I just got stat screwed with my marigold but mine was constantly in need of rescuing or babysitting. My wyvern lapis on the other hand with edelgard equipped was almost unstoppable, most of the time taking out two whole health bars on bosses in one turn with raging storm + houses unite.
Wyvern Chloe is a hard carry, Wyvern Kagetsu is a hard carry, Wyvern Alear is a hard carry. My lapis is a griffinknight and the worst of the bunch. I feel like Wyvern is just OP.
Lol what a pointless video. You just said "use a good class, and any combination of good abilities". The only thing that even synergizes here is Healing Light with the Hero class's ability. This isn't a run-carrying build at all, this is just a list of generally good things to include in any build.
A good class with good abilities do make a good build; especially ones that can make a difference in maddening. Sure; it won't solo the whole game for you, but teaching players who may not be privy to good skills/class combos is not pointless 😁
How much more insufferable could you be? Just because you don't find the video helpful doesn't mean it's "pointless." Reading comments like this on Engage videos really does remind me how god awful this Fandom is at times.

@Iced Coffee Gaming better to spend it on a yolo Martial Master build 😎
I mean speed isn't everything, there's plenty of low speed units that are really good like Pannete.
Hero plus dual assist sounds good... See no reason at all to use Miciah for it however
It’s mainly for random support and miciah self heal something that can easily be handled with by another unit aka Hortensia or any class that can use a staff. Imo just stick another emblem on her
or i can just kagetsu at the boss as a swordmaster and laugh at their 0% hit rate while he nukes them
my team has at least 7 heroes lmao. I quit my first 2 runs because my all-flier team was terrible. But this is busted!
chain attacks really need to be looked at by the balance team...
when you can 1 cycle even sombron on maddening using just chain attacks because your entire team is capable of doing nearly 2,000% true damage, 80% hit rate, ignore passives, defense, avoidance damage that is entirely independent to your actual stats, weapon type/refinement/engravement that attacks before your actual character hits... is a problem.
it genuinely just felt like i had cheat codes on for the second half of the game when all my characters swapped to backup and into heros with deirdre rings because even if you need your 1 staff user they're using lucina's ring to also be able to chain attack... it's a mystery to how they think this shit would be even remotely balanced.
There's also Michai if your short on staff users too, plus I think Sombron gets an ability to block chain attacks somewhat.
shame on me i havent used goldmary in my first playthrough maybe i should
how do you do chain atttacks? still dont get this shit
Position a backup unit where if you wanted to; you would be able to attack the enemy. So if you have a iron sword equipped to goldmady for example; put her next to the enemy you want her to chain attack and fight that enemy with a different unit
Trying this out. :)
Yea that sounds fun and I'll do the same I think.
the thing is u take really too long to have marth and goldmary at the same time....in like ch 23 u finally have both ? so .... yeah how to inherit any marth skill?
goldmary alone its on ch 17
Goldmary recruits on ch16, but yes, you cannot set her up and use her until ch17.
But why mention Marth? Lucina is the one with Dual Assist and you get her in ch11.
In other words, you can set Goldmary up as a Dual Assist Hero as soon as you get her.
Though... you can also set up any other character as a Dual Assist Hero as soon as you get Lucina without waiting for Goldmary......
…You are not sorry. Is this good on normal?!
Dude, go easy on the audio memes. This video is borderline unwatchable because of it
Dude, words have weight and you're definitely exaggerating...
As you grow up, you will have to endure things you don’t like.
Please, don’t whine about it.
5.2K views, and literally only you and 25 others care about it lol
31k views and only 25 people care
Out of 100+ comments this is one comes in second in terms of likes. Regardless of tone that makes the criticism worth consideration
Nah
Great Knight Goldmary only takes damage to dragons, backup units, and magic. She is so tacky that units won’t attack her unless they have a backup unit in order to hurt her.
What’s with the stupid audio memes please stop we want to watch a video not hear dumb audios plz and thank you
