I see a lot of people hating on this video because they don't have the same tools. I personally am sooo thankful for this video! I am interested in selling coin rings at flea markets and summer festivals. There is no way I am gonna spend an hour on a ring and sell it for $20. BUT- spending 5 minutes on a ring and selling it for $20 is exactly what I wanted to know how to do! I plan on investing in the equipment and starting a side buisness.
I’m just commenting again to say thank you for inspiring me several years ago. I’m the math teacher in Florida who has all of his students make a coin ring at the end of the year. The kids love the activity. Thanks again.
Agreed, I know what you mean. It's just like showing a machine that throws out 100s of rings a minute. Yeah they cost more but in comparison to the average joes tool box this is not relevant! Fair enough if you want to drop a grand on ring stretchers, different punch sizes, files etc and all the other bits and bobs. But who does? its easy enough to make a couple of these rings, and to be honest, who wants more than that? If they don't sell, it a waste of money, unless you REALLY enjoy it. If you do, fair play to ya, and have fun ;-)
No. Buying a shitload of tools is just an option. My earlier vids go over how to do it with a $15 mandrel and a mallet. Or even simpler, a drill and a claw hammer. The tools u c in this vid just speed up the process, and maintain consistancy. The desire is really all that is required
Luckily I happened to find all the equipment under the kitchen sink and made a lovely ring from the brass plumbing pipes in the kitchen in under 2 minutes. My wife loves her new ring and enjoys the new water feature in the kitchen. Unfortunately she refuses to do the dishes but that's a small price to pay to keep your wife happy.
You'd be correct. If he hadn't spent fifteen seconds with the intro. So it comes out to about 1 minute and fifty five seconds total on the actual ring.

Thank you, sir. You, are awesome.
I have not found a way to "permanently" seal these rings. I can protect it for a while, but it eventually wears off. Last thing I tried was "Protectaclear" It's like a clear resin that is baked onto the ring. Lasts longer than anything I've tried and You more or less wear through it, opposed to it flaking off. The last question you asked would have everything to do with your ambition. And You don't need all these tools, but they sure help speed things up. Good luck Man

Much faster than how I have done it in the past. Used silver quarter or half dollar piece and slowly hammered it out. Takes forever and doesn't turn out as well. How much would a set up like yours run someone to get started?
Under US law it is an offence to "Physically or materially tamper in any way with Federal reserve currency where it can be proven that the intent is to increase its value to an amount greater than the face value."
Your statements are a correct quotation of law- but your quotations are applied incorrectly. You are attempting to apply a law that was written to prevent counterfeiting paper currency to coinage. He is not changing the stated valuation (face value) of the coinage. Please keep in mind- rare coins! A buffalo nickle has an intrinsic value of 5 cents- however the numismatic value is much higher. The same can be said of postal stamps.
isn't this illegal? nice markup on your rings.. .25 cents and you charge 20 dollars per ring? and they take less than 4 mins to make. that's ridiculous
If someone comes and fixes your furnace in 5 minutes because he spent his life fixing furnaces, he's still going to charge you for an hour plus driving time. You're paying for every ring he made and every ring that failed while he learned to make them.
You are paying for his skilled trade, not the value of coin ring. Also equally important is his equipment he has invested in something that the average person doesn't have the tooling machine etc.
Depends on where you are as to if it’s illegal, up here in Canada it is against the law to willfully destroy currency. As American law was pointed out to me the money belongs to the person that holds it. Therefore y’all can burn it bury it use it for a boat anchor or use it to trade for goods, and, or services
hum it is hard to tell when looking up defacing of government property if you go by what you say U.S. Title 18, Chapter 17, Section 331: Prohibits among other things, fraudulent alteration and mutilation of coins. This statue does not, however, prohibit the mutilation of coins if done without fraudulent intent if the mutilated coins are not used fraudulently. but Technically it is a crime to deface currency by some other parts of the law like the local zoo, and other city parks well have these machines that you put pennies in and you crank them through a device that stretches them and puts a print on them. This is illegal as well, but no one seems to be too concerned. as long as its in small numbers giving you have a really big cup full and can show how good you are at doing it makes your case on saying it as a hobby hard truth be told i am like you . . . and can only go by what i find on the internet .. so i really dont know if it is or is not not a troll at all here .. just cant find the right info to back up that its ok and find more info on saying its not ok then ok .. giving you have been doing this for some time i think you would know more then me on this one
falcon7350 it's not hard to tell at all. it says it right in the section many times. "fraudulent". what it means is that if you intend to commit fraud with what you are doing then it is illegal.
+falcon7350 basically what the government wanted to protect against was like, say, altering a nickel to look like a dime or maybe to nickels into a quarter
what is the acid bath for? and did not become brittle withe the "forging"? what about two metals (like the euro coin)? that leads me to the next questionL which metal are used in this cointo see how diferent or not would be with a coin of my country Thank you! it was an awesome video
In this video he is using a "clad" coin (copper core with a nickle-copper layer over it). Most popular are "silver" coins (90% or greater silver). The acid bath is used to reduce/prevent the firescale. The metals used in coins/jewelry don't become brittle with annealing like iron/steel. With coins like Euros (coin within a coin), you have to pop out the inner disc. Once you start to fold the coin it would not stay together.
how much would it take for me to start making them myself if i was to buy everything i have torch and a Dremel but another question how much do you sell them for or would you sell one of them for how can I get one
Very Interesting. All there any other alternatives if you don't have the equipment seen here? If not what are the names of the various mechanisms you used. I have a rotary tool similar to a Dremel, but I'd need more to make a double sided ring won't, I?
No. destroying legal tender is not illegal unless you are destroying the currency to turn it into something that is worth more than the currency itself and intend on using the defaced currency for illicit purposes. In other words, for example: if I were to turn a 1 dollar bill into a 100 dollar bill that would be illegal. But drawing a mustache on the face of George Washington that is printed on the bill is not illegal.
ok i used to live next door to some asian people that would burn money on a certain holiday and i remember the police telling them something about burning money so then the next year they used fake money to celebrate instead of real money.
As long as you are not destroying currency for fraudulent reasons. As long as the coin will be taken out of circulation once converted to the ring (which it will be), it can be altered. I thought the same thing but after speaking generally with an attorney acquaintance and also consulting with my attorney found this info to be incorrect. They both explained it the same way.
thats what im saying...looking at all those things that i dont even know what they are im like "what else can we make there bud"...reload some ammo, i donno?

At 1:16 what did you use to shape the ring/quarter? Not the dapping block but the singular die.
We get it you vape
Lol
What is the name of you punch set up? Good video!! Thanks for your time!!
How to watch me use all me expensive toys video
Sweet ring, and it's always cool seeing interesting tools. Don't even know what some of those are called.
isn't this illegal?
nice markup on your rings.. .25 cents and you charge 20 dollars per ring? and they take less than 4 mins to make. that's ridiculous
If someone comes and fixes your furnace in 5 minutes because he spent his life fixing furnaces, he's still going to charge you for an hour plus driving time. You're paying for every ring he made and every ring that failed while he learned to make them.
thank you for that wonderful comparison! I failed to make that connection...
You are paying for his skilled trade, not the value of coin ring. Also equally important is his equipment he has invested in something that the average person doesn't have the tooling machine etc.
To me, twenty dollars for a coin ring produced in two minutes is a super bargain!
Depends on where you are as to if it’s illegal, up here in Canada it is against the law to willfully destroy currency.
As American law was pointed out to me the money belongs to the person that holds it. Therefore y’all can burn it bury it use it for a boat anchor or use it to trade for goods, and, or services
Awesome set of tool you have for making rings.
Didn't he just record himself breaking the law? lol
DFKnightmare i was thinking the same thing and by looking in the cups of left over parts ... it shows a past that just may get him on hot water
falcon7350 You can do what you want with coins as long as you don't alter them with intent to make them look/work like higher denominations.
hum it is hard to tell when looking up defacing of government property
if you go by what you say
U.S. Title 18, Chapter 17, Section 331: Prohibits among other things, fraudulent alteration and mutilation of coins. This statue does not, however, prohibit the mutilation of coins if done without fraudulent intent if the mutilated coins are not used fraudulently.
but Technically it is a crime to deface currency by some other parts of the law
like the local zoo, and other city parks well have these machines that you put pennies in and you crank them through a device that stretches them and puts a print on them. This is illegal as well, but no one seems to be too concerned. as long as its in small numbers
giving you have a really big cup full and can show how good you are at doing it makes your case on saying it as a hobby hard
truth be told i am like you . . . and can only go by what i find on the internet .. so i really dont know if it is or is not
not a troll at all here .. just cant find the right info to back up that its ok and find more info on saying its not ok then ok .. giving you have been doing this for some time i think you would know more then me on this one
falcon7350 it's not hard to tell at all. it says it right in the section many times. "fraudulent". what it means is that if you intend to commit fraud with what you are doing then it is illegal.
+falcon7350 basically what the government wanted to protect against was like, say, altering a nickel to look like a dime or maybe to nickels into a quarter
what is the acid bath for? and did not become brittle withe the "forging"? what about two metals (like the euro coin)? that leads me to the next questionL which metal are used in this cointo see how diferent or not would be with a coin of my country
Thank you! it was an awesome video
The government just called. they want their quarter back.
how much would it take for me to start making them myself if i was to buy everything i have torch and a Dremel but another question how much do you sell them for or would you sell one of them for how can I get one
there's vape..

wow that's something I don't see everyday.great vid, good work and a very nice ring.
2 minute coin ring.......4 minute video lol. make a 25 cent ring with $4,000.00 worth of special tools. yeah, ok.
Very Interesting. All there any other alternatives if you don't have the equipment seen here? If not what are the names of the various mechanisms you used. I have a rotary tool similar to a Dremel, but I'd need more to make a double sided ring won't, I?
isnt this illegal. Destroying legal tender
No. destroying legal tender is not illegal unless you are destroying the currency to turn it into something that is worth more than the currency itself and intend on using the defaced currency for illicit purposes. In other words, for example: if I were to turn a 1 dollar bill into a 100 dollar bill that would be illegal. But drawing a mustache on the face of George Washington that is printed on the bill is not illegal.
ok i used to live next door to some asian people that would burn money on a certain holiday and i remember the police telling them something about burning money so then the next year they used fake money to celebrate instead of real money.
its illegal in england to destroy or deface money thats currently in circulation.
Could you tell me what kind of oil you dip it into. My quarter turns black when I cool it in water. Thanks.
anyone who wears that many rings has serious social issues.
not really.. the same was wearing cuff links or a nice belt. just accessories. and is they're DIY that's even better
What polish do you use? It works very quickly.
Totally impressive! Can this be done without the annealing step?
no, you'll split the coin when stretching
how much for that .25cent ring?....let me know
Thanks for this great video!
what is the size of the plastic balls you use and the reduction ring?
Very cool 25 cents in material, 2000 in special tools nice work !!! I really like the anvil.
I need this setup so bad!!! That is the ultimate work bench!!
thats what im saying...looking at all those things that i dont even know what they are im like "what else can we make there bud"...reload some ammo, i donno?
Hi. Great fast video !
I'm new to working with flex shaft. What's a good accessory to polish and get that lovely finish? I have a 180 piece attachment from harbor freight and comes with zero descriptions
You are a one man factory sir, nice job.
Can I ask what is the two different mason jars with liquids you use?
What is the largest size ring you can make from a quarter? What would a 13.5 take?
In what is he dipping the ring after heating it ? Like the jar b4 the water
