So glad to have stumbled upon your channel. Great content. You review many items that due to their price and limited availability in stores where i live i'm forced to just order online, this jacket being a prime example. Do you plan on reviewing the Grenfell Trench? It looks like one of the better traditionally cut trench coats available today. Again, terrible availability in my area. Cheers! Subbed.
No current plans to review the Grenfell Trench. Basically down to not being a big fan of the trenchcoat, so I'm not keen to spend the massive pile of cash that Grenfell is asking for one! :)
I’m a giant fan of the Shooter. I own three different colors, including a navy four pocket version made for Westley Richards. It’s unlike anything out there. As a big fan of bespoke clothing and shoes it’s the one curious piece that I find myself molding my wardrobe around. It’s the gentleman’s M65 if you will. But you must learn to carry it. And no it shouldn’t be worn over a suit or a tweed jacket. Even though I’ve worn it over a suit and works I don’t think that’s it real pedigree. It’s it’s own piece and deserves to be treated as such.
Hi there. I'm a huge fan of PWVC but have been eyeing more UK based brands lately. I want my clothes to be either UK sourced and made or Italian. I found out about Grenfell and checked them out. Looked like the brand has a long history in British clothing and is committed to offer the best quality. For my first garment I was considering buying a woolen overshirt in green which really looks amazing and well built. I want transparency and honesty though. If this "made in London" is not true or it means that they got the wool let's say from China but put it together in London then I don't want it. Could you please share your point on this? Thanks in advance ☺
You’d have to ask about the origin of the fabric (if it’s not specified), but they certainly make the garments in the London factory. The quality is reflected in the price. You could also look ag SEH Kelly and English Utopia, depending on your style interest.
@@GarmologyVideo Not all prices really reflect the quality. Most of the time are overpriced. Don't really think this is the case with Grenfell though. I'm just saying. Thanks for your advice I've already checked out the suggested brands. I don't live in UK so I had no clue about Anderson & Sheppard. Mama and I thought PW was expensive.
@@DLGemma Certainly, prices doesn't always reflect quality. In this case though we were specifically talking about Grenfell, where I would argue it does. I'm uncertain what you are after, but if you are looking for "that certain extra something", I would recommend English Utopia. The owner, designer, and cutter is Gary, ex head of menswear design at Barbour. The best of the best fabrics, all names and documented, sewn at home by his machinists and you can customise sizing and select the exact fabrics you require. It's hard to find service and quality like this today, and certainly not that personal touch!
Hard to say, as Grenfell are not at all transparent about where the fabric is made or whether it is treated. I have asked them, but no reply. It feels very like Ventile to me and the repellancy leads me to think it’s been treated with something, though whether bad or good is less certain.
I would expect it to be an entirely British made product, especially for something at that price point. Their lack of transparency with the cloth’s origins speaks volumes.
I agree about the wholly unnecessary lack of transparency. The real issue is that most of the UK weaving industry is gone, and that's just a fact we have to deal with. Ventile has been pulling a similar trick the past 23 years, passing it off as a UK-made fabric and trading off the past. I personally felt it warranted mentioning, so I am kind of pleased to find I'm not alone in finding it a point of concern. With more transparency, I have no problem at all with regards to the quality of the product or even the price point.
Great video!
Learned a ton.

Very interesting. Is there any difference between this and the Shooter Grenfell sell directly on their website?
Not to my knowledge.

Is grenfell cloth breathable? Also does it use horrible chemicals to produce like the ventile?
