They also use captive animals instead of wildlife animals in most wildlife films as long as the producers make it clear which shots are not gathered in the wild. In planet earth 2 they manipulate using our emotions like how filmmakers frame the action, often using multiple shots from different ways of shooting to create one cohesive scene. Like the wolf scene where the wolf was the "enemy" invested of the deers fate. Film nature docs also used anthropromorphizing of animals like one animal saving another animal. They also admitted that if these where just facts about animals, most of us wouldn't watch instead they carved out storytelling stories in editing. Storytelling engages us, not scientific facts. just a little clarification: to make a video like this one, you need camera rushes from several days of filming. More than half of those images were took another day than when this actually happened.
This may as well be science fiction.... no cgi though. Different locations, different situations, different times to create a "dramatic" sequence that is actually morally bankrupt in terms of presenting fiction as "reality"

Those lions look delicious. They have a hamburger face. Anyway, excellent job on saving his juvenile brothers vitality, but the mature elephant brother has got a funny name.
it is terrible that many elephants are being born without tusks because they are genetically mutating to defend themselves from poachers. Fangs are part of their being of their power and magnificence. I hope this is not final and the elephants can continue to live with their beautiful tusks, and I hope that all poachers can disappear from the face of Earth

Most documentaries are not actual occurences, they are usually a developed stories.. like fictional stories.. zoo-fiction. They clip n patch various videos into a good story..
It's a wonderful story and filming well filmed...elephants are beautiful creatures such social and herd animals but they show the love a bit more....the lions are amazing aswel...marauding comes to mind..
