Pisa seems to take after Lundi, while Limpopo after Tokwe. And Khanyisa be like: "My Mama Adine is the one filling this waterhole, so we get to drink first." She is already learning from her adoptive mother how to drive away threats around the family, or perhaps just to have fun with their neighbors. I love how Timisa and Kumbura let her have her fun, but watching attentively in case she needs protection. I hope the buffalos will have their fill of water as well after the Jabulani herd ellies left. They also need to quench their thirst and cool their bodies. I hope and pray that will rain will come anytime now. Thank you, Owen. God Bless Everyone At HERD And All Wildlife, Especially The Ellies.🙏🐘❤
I feel for the buffalo as they do not have the same back up resources as you supply for the elephants. I know this is nature"s way , I just wish they had a bit more to live on. Thank you for providing water for all the animals you can . It is a very caring thig you do
It is a delicate balance out here in the wild, but we’re doing our best to ensure all wildlife has access to water. The waterhole is being filled with water pumped from the river and made available to all the wildlife.
❤️🙏🐘💚🍼Our darling Ellies, make your point of view strong, stand your ground but pleeeaaassseeee let the Buffies have theirs so well deserved sip of water...It is truly "halarious" to watch our Meisiekind Khanysia in reverse mode and her Legs' language is the cutest...🍼💚🐘🙏❤️
All the wildlife is struggling & the buffalo are no different. But the elephants need water too so, as you say, it’s “survival of the fittest” where the elephants reign. Thanks to everyone in the HERD family for taking such good care of our elephants! May God bless each of you!! ✝️🙏❤️
Awwwww. Love the trumpeting. And Khanyisa running towards the buffalo with her little ears out fully. Bless them. At least Khanyisa and Co let the buffalo have a drink at THEIR watering hole 😂. Thk u all and love to u all and Ele's too 🐘🥰🐘🥰🐘🥰🐘🥰🐘🥰🐘 xxx

For this dam you see here we fill it directly from the river pump. We pump water directly from the Klaserie river running next to our property. The main pump is located in a small pump house right beside the river. The main pump then pumps the water through a the main line firstly to the bana grass, it splits to the water purification plant and this dam.
@@rosaliebiskynis4835 I wasn’t preaching, I was having a conversation either khanyisa. I am well aware of what Herd does, get off your high horse and recognize a joke when you read it.
Well planned and in accordance with the naturally occurring changes. It is fortunate that the river makes this possible. An altercation between two strong and determined species can be quite intimidating. ❤
Elephants RARELY like to share water with others (including their own, unless family) -- especially if there are little ones involved. A lone bull might just go into a crowd for a drink, but that's about it. I've seen LOTS of videos of a herd emptying the water holes of animals -- including lions, rhinos, etc. Most of the time, the chased ones will hang around nearby so when the ellies have had their fill & move off, they'll return to finish drinking. Ofc, what's sad about this is the drought. EVERYBODY wants to be the only ones there. I, like all of us, am praying hard for rain & the change of season.
LOL a bunch of big snots those teenager elephants are. The chasing with trumpetting did look like Pisa was having a blast (lol pun intended) while doing it. Glad you are able to provide water for the animals and I hope that the rains come soon to replenish the dams and rivers of Southern Africa. Thanks for all you do in managing such a large area with so many "moving parts".
Pisa and Khanyisa have attidude and courage, thought buffalo herd is big 😃🥰. Thank you for taking wildlife, water pumping.(I am sorry, my English is not good). I pray for rain 🌧🌧🍃🌱🌿🌳🙏❤.
Good day beautiful people, Intriguing footage. Khanyisa is not a pink little baby elephant anymore. She's a force to be reckoned with. Sending love and prayers for rain.❤💕 Rennie
Look at all my babies! I love them all and want to spend time with them. My fondest wish is to go to HERD, and stay for a month. I would work, and learn as much as possible in that time. Love to you all ❤️🐘❤️🐘
Question: With the heat, do you have to worry about areas that are sandy and similar soil that may get too hot for the elephants feet or do their feet adapt?
Elephants are incredibly well-adapted to their environments, including dealing with hot, sandy soils. The soles of their feet have a network of blood vessels that help with thermoregulation, allowing them to dissipate heat effectively. They have thick, tough skin on their feet that helps protect them from the heat and rough terrain. Also, their feet are designed to distribute their weight evenly, which helps prevent injuries and discomfort from hot surfaces.
I know they'll eventually drink when the elephants move off, but seeing thirsty baby buffaloes so close to the water but unable to get to it is sad. On the plus side, with more game coming to the dam your guests are in for a wildlife spotting treat ❤
A stark reminder of the power dynamics in the wild. The waterhole in our reserve is used by all the wildlife, they all have a turn at drinking the water.
Watching them work together you can tell they don’t want anyone hurt. They just want to intimidate the buffalo. Seeing that Khanyisa isn’t surrounded anymore constantly shows how “big” she’s gotten. Of coarse she’s still being wAtched 24/7 but how brave she continues to become is amazing!
1:55 the ellies are like: 'y'know we gracefully allow y'all to drink from our water hole but when we are present please follow protocol - the _order of precedence_ has been agreed upon ages ago and we won't entertain any deviation. 🐘
Khanyisa charges the Buffalo, it runs. She returned to the herd and said " My work here is done ". Thank you for providing water for the local wildlife. 😊🐘
The three girls were like discussing strategy before they begin to charge at the buffalos 😂😂😂 . So Pisa went charging first, the Khanyisa followed next while Timisa stayed on guard.. and Khaynisa was happy and like ' I am done..they're gone'..😂 Their stratergies worked.. good girls..👍🥰🐘
I got a good chuckle watching Khanyisa with her trunk up, her ears flared and her tail out chasing the buffalo!!! She's just so amazing. As my brother used to say......."full of spit and vinegar!" Love her so much!
Cutie Pie Pisa takes no prisoners and that includes buffalo. It's so fascinating knowing that even though they're not predator and prey, our HERD seems to instinctively know that when they encounter buffalo when they want to use the waterhole, that they must scatter and scatter quickly! LOL! Kudos to our brave not so little Khanyisa, who darted out there strutting her stuff and then quickly retreated when Pisa, Limpopo and Zindoga started to chase them. Meisiekind wanted her family to see that she is learning. And boy is she! Thanks, Owen and Juan. And Adine and all, thank you for sharing your resources with others in need!
Looking at Hoedspruit's weather forecast, this coming Sunday and Monday show rain, so fingers crossed for all of the animals (including humans) that it comes.
It's amazing having watched a baby orphan Kanyisa now very much acclimating to the heard and even joining in on protection duties with others. It's awesome to see.
This is the thing I worry about in our natural world...enough resources for the humans and animals alike. I know HERD does all it can to take care of the animals, but just the fact there is so much competition for water and no rain in sight makes me anxious. That's just me...I know the people that tend the area have it well in hand.
Everyone is a braveheart today.. Pisa had a good run at them and Khanyisa is just so cute.. she’s really become a working part of her herd.. 🐘❤️ buffalo need water too.. 💦

Most of us are uninvolved with sustainability, habitat loss and even clean air and water.
Nice update on water issue by Owen
We're happy you found it informative.
She certainly has a lot of courage for a young elephant!
Mambo… “what’s going on little ladies?”😂😂😂
Pisa is fearless! Elephants and buffalos usually get on but the herd seem very protective
HERD's Angles 🐘🐘🐘.
I got a good chuckle watching Khanyisa with her trunk up, her ears flared and her tail out chasing the buffalo!!! She's just so amazing. As my brother used to say......."full of spit and vinegar!" Love her so much!
Khanyisa is a little firecracker! 🐘🔥
They are so cute, they said this our water hole, our family made, Human family😂❤❤❤❤❤
It's really interesting to see the behavior of these animals in all possible situations. Thank you !
I like how Khanyisa backs up never turning her back on the buffalo
We’re always grateful to share our resources with the wildlife around us.
Looking at Hoedspruit's weather forecast, this coming Sunday and Monday show rain, so fingers crossed for all of the animals (including humans) that it comes.
It does look awfully dry. Let's hope it rains soon. Global warming is real!
love how creative and unique your content is. It’s unlike anything I’ve seen before.
They must be so thirsty...hope you get rain soon...❤❤
Timisa is such a beautiful elephant.
Still missing little Phabeni
It's amazing having watched a baby orphan Kanyisa now very much acclimating to the heard and even joining in on protection duties with others. It's awesome to see.
This is the thing I worry about in our natural world...enough resources for the humans and animals alike. I know HERD does all it can to take care of the animals, but just the fact there is so much competition for water and no rain in sight makes me anxious. That's just me...I know the people that tend the area have it well in hand.
I guess the ellies have yet to learn that in hard times you have to be compassionate toward everyone, even the riff-raff cape buffalos.
Elephants often take priority at waterholes due to their size and dominance.
@@herdelephantorphanage Countries do the same. All the best to you.
Everyone is a braveheart today.. Pisa had a good run at them and Khanyisa is just so cute.. she’s really become a working part of her herd.. 🐘❤️ buffalo need water too.. 💦
It's hard to look tough and scary when you're pink. Love her personality.
This is one of the most interesting videos
Family 💪🙏💖.
Don't mess with the Herd🤗😍
Khanyisa is a feisty little character!😅❤❤❤❤
Khnayisa pink ears ypu can see from behind ❤
Baby K's "reverse charge" was cuter to me than her forward charge. She has to learn to share nicely. Poor lil buffalo. 😊💕
Khanyisa is still learning the ropes! 😊😊😊
❤️🙏🏼🐘🐃. Lovely video 👏💕
Boy can she reverse but can she do a three point turn???😂
Can’t we just all get along and share? lol 🤣
