I actually noticed that Disney's Renaissance movie's song lyrics are simple, but at the same time very direct. It's brilliant execution with a simple storyline. I'd love to have this again. One that doesn't look into politics and producers caring about their self-image and avoiding political "errors", making snowflakes out of the new generation.
Fun fact: The muses were originally not gonna be in this song which had already been animated until screenings proved them to be popular so they started adding them in more of the film. The muses only had one song on the movie originally. This song was on the verge of being cut but the animator’s were asked to add the muses to the song which meant they had to reanimate the entire scene but it saved the song and thank goodness for that! Can’t imagine it without their background vocals.
This style of animation is so beautiful and allows for an incredible amount of visual expression. It's kinda sad when they do all the remakes and totally lose that beautiful aspect of it.
"Remake" is code for letting far less qualified, untalented politically motivated hacks try and capitalize off far more talented, creatively motivated people.

It's very understandable how she is, and I honestly relate to her so much more than when I was 7 and listened to this. It's also why she's one of my favorite Disney princesses. She struggles to accept love/intimacy even if she wants it, she struggles to tell if it is a genuine connection (with Hercules) or not, and overall is very unique and honestly one of the best Disney princesses along with Mulan IMO.

i watched Hercules for the first time when I was 5 years old. I'm 19 now, and every year I come back to this song over and over again. everything about it is great, and the fact how relatable it becomes every year amazes me
It's insane how many details you notice when you watch this over and over again. The muses are doing something slightly different even when acting together for their dance moves, but still together. Their expressions are slightly different as well, even when smiling. A computer would have made them perfectly in sync, which isn't what you want.
