Fantastic! I was recommended this compressor from a friend a fortnight ago. It arrived a few days back and of all the possible videos that could have been up the top of my subscriptions was this! Just learnt a lot of great info! Thanks so much :)

To avoid air leaks on the moisture trap use a bit of teflon tape. I had mine for years and it does the job. The tank is a bit small but works well for many small jobs. Watch out for rust on the bottom screws and the black paint on the cover is a bit fragile.... Always drain the tank to avoid moisture build-up and therefore, rust.

I've had the previous generation Sparmax model for about 7 years now. It doesn't have the casing like this model but I can't see any other significant differences. Still working perfectly. I would add that contacting the company for spare parts is virtually impossible. It fell off the bench (due to the vibrations! now I clamp it to the bench when using it) and the connection between the gauge and the pump broke. This was an easy part to get hold of though. I would prefer it if the gauge was protected by the casing a little more.

Paul if you undo the dream plug after a session then run the pump for a minute after you empty the tank the blow though all the cold / damp decompressed air is also a good idea

Hello there! I'm in the market for a compressor - it'll be my first ever one. I want to avoid getting the cheap and (not so) cheerful Chinese mass-produced ones that are available everywhere online. I'd rather pay that bit more for something that will last and serve me well. It's only for very light use with an Iwata brush. Can I ask what you would recommend and also what you're using yourself at the moment? Preferably one with a tank and I think single-piston would be more than enough for my low-level use. Look forward to reading your comments :)

How does the compressor hold up today?

uh, never blow through your airbrush at the first go.
There can be metal shards from milling and welding inside.
Almost all companies warm about this and if there is a couple, they will shred your hose and damage your airbrush.
Always air it out twice, using the filter, before use.
    All companies write this.

I have the compressor Sparmax 610 Plus, but i still didnt used it because of safety questions. We open the drain plug below the tank after or before we empty the tank from air? I think the manual says to drain it with pressure in tank, but im afraid i water spits all over if the tank have air inside. Can someone help me?

These are the OIM versions of the IWATA compressors, from the looks of it ( the shell, and the moister trap)
