    EDIT: I take back what I said about the Charvin Royal Blue (PB29). Their ultramarine blue is called “Bleu Outremer” on their website, which is the shade I was expecting (also PB29, I just picked the wrong one 💔).

    what was your favourite item from this haul? I’m in love with the porcelain palette and Monet journal 😍💗
    I’ve got exams in April and questionable time management so I’ll probably see you guys after!! 😢 got some painting & travel art vlogs planned which I’m super excited about 💗

    They look very light & colourful - almost like a children's watercolour set. I wonder do they mix a lot of white with the pigment to get them like that ?..usually most of the paints I use look very dark because they are concentrated, but you can make them look as light as you want by diluting them.

  • @luneleaart
    @luneleaart ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Omg I want everything from this video 😳🫣especially the book and the palette, so unique and lovely. Thank you for sharing. I feel like the royal blue must have a white pigment in it, many brands have royal blue and it’s usually a mix of ultramarine and white, a pale blue colour, could be useful for skies. Ultramarine is pretty consistent in pigment load across most brands.

    • @softandcosy
      @softandcosy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks for watching! 🥰💗 after I filmed this, I saw roman szmal’s royal blue and it seems more similar to that! The Charvin website only lists PB29 in that colour but I wonder if it’s like you wrote, especially since they didn’t name it with “ultramarine” in the name

I won't be able to reproduce the granulation,however, I can mix the colours to create the same or similar coulr as the Pyrelene green from DS. 15$ + 5$ for shiping,is WAY too much for a single half pan...

    Still remember when handmade meant less expensive and better quality than mass produced. I remember when handmade watercolor paint was 3 dollars less expensive per half pan than mass produced. Now these youtubers want twice as much for their crap than daniel smith wants for their fine quality product.
    I remember when I got my handmade brass palette made from real brass for $100.00. Now people are paying twice that for brass coated palettes. Gullible generation destroying itself.

    • @softandcosy
      @softandcosy  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not sure what you mean by ‘these youtubers’ wanting twice as much for their ‘crap’! 🤔
      The watercolour set in this video is from Charvin, which is a similar price to the Daniel Smith half pan sets.
      If people are looking into artist grade watercolours, I would also recommend Daniel Smith - as you said, the quality is great and reviews & swatches are easy to find. However, it's still a bit pricey. Roman Szmal is a good alternative; great quality but more affordable (at least in the UK).
      The solid brass palettes I've seen are over £400, while the Frazer Price brass coated one is £100 :( People could be buying brass coated because it's the more affordable option by far.
      $100 sounds amazing though, I bet it's still in great condition too. I guess if you consider inflation the price today is about right
