As much as I like Ian Gillan,I'd say Rob Halford is a match for him. Dio doesn't have the high pitched screaming ability but I still think Dio is the best! But everyone is different!
When I saw Van Halen in concert back around 1976 at the Pasadena Civic it was the bassist Michael Anthony who hit all those high notes as the backup singer, not David Lee Roth.
Once my dad was driving and told me to gave him a cd... that was "Born Again". At the end of the trip he told me "please, never put that kind of disturbing thing again!"
Brilliant song and album, agree it is a massively underrated contribution to the Sabbath catalogue! People also say its a terrible cover but I think it is cool!
I loved Trashed when this first came out and loved the eerie album cover. But Dio will always remain my favorite Sabbath singer and favorite metal singer of all time! I was only 15 when this came out and had just gotten into metal a year or so before, discovering Screaming For Vengeance and Number Of The Beast when they were first released, along with Heaven And Hell. These albums started me on a lifelong headbanging journey!
4:29 my favorite vocal part of all time. Gillan was head and shoulders above everyone else. (explains why he sang the role of Jesus in "Jesus Christ Superstar"). From Jesus to a Demon the man could do it all. "If you're ready and have the need...I'll take your soul and plant my seeeeeed....Oh ooohhhoohhh.." The best. Top 5 Sabbath song for me."Zero the Hero" is also incredible. One of the best concerts I ever went to back in '83.
One of the most craziest songs in Black Sabbath career, this album has some heavy tracks even by the standards of BS, i read that Ian Gillan said that the time he spent with BS for the recording and touring was the best time of his life, some fantastic and wild guitar solos from Tony Iommi, great bass playing from Geezer Butler and great drumming from Bill Ward, Geoff Nicholls as always contributed his keyboards under the radar, i loved the album in 1983 and i love it till present, thanks for sharing the song and video.
@@ColtraneTaylor As you know, Ian Gillan left BS to reunite with Deep Purple, in 1986 Gillan was very busy with the tour of Perfect Strangers album, but it could be much interesting if BS could do another album with Gillan, i wonder how it would sound like, we'll never know, such a shame.
1980s we went crazy . i melted this cassette in my car jamming it so much driving my 72 nova lime green in high school parking lot full blast burning a fattie at 8am metal back then was alive not dead like now .and we as kids did some thing instead of sitting on a fcking I phone. .
I'm old enough to be a grandpa but unfortunately never had any kids. At 56, I'm still going to many concerts, banging my head and rocking right out. I don't care who is watching. However, I think there has been a lot of good metal music that has come out in every decade since I was 13 in 1980. You just have to look for it! Saw Godsmack and Saliva last summer (newest bands I've seen lately and even they are 20+ years old!) and they still rock! I don't know if it's just kids on these damn phones. Seems like everyone has their head buried these days. People can't even go for a nice walk and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings, or take their kids to the park and watch them play! And as a motorcyclist with 40 years and 300,000kms under my belt, it scares the hell out of me to be on the road nowadays with all the people I see driving and texting!
The ORIGINATORS of HEAVY METAL join together in this unholy alliance of Deep Purple and Black Sabbath for one of the greatest \m/etal album of the 80's. Throw in Vincent Price for good measure and it's a classic of the ages.
It's funny how you could take both bands and draw an interwoven tree with all the connections between the two, along with other bands! They are legends!
+Bruce Lair I agree with you. Ian Gillan once said "What were they thinking about to invite me for this album?!"... I think it is one of the heaviest Sabbath's albums... the screams? They are insane! Love everything about this experiment.
Saw this tour in my little hometown arena. Wings stadium Kalamazoo MI. Sabbath brought the house Down! Ian Gillan sang like he had just risen from Hell! "Let's try getting to the sky!"
Had tickets for this concert, and it cancelled. We all wanted to see Gillan do this! Album is in a league of its own. Never nothing like it before, or since.
Black Sabbath has set the BAR for all other bands to Fucking Follow ! Over Sabbath's Reign as Legends ......they have never been afraid to make their own sound with every member of the band ! Black Sabbath ....... Legendary
para mi que esta y headless cross son las mejores canciones de toda la historia de Black Sabbath pero solo es una opinión personal tienen tantas buenas que es muy difícil elegir solo una
Sabbath were always great, no matter whom was in the band. Some lineups and albums better than others, but, fuck, it's SABBATH MAN, how the fuck can you argue with the orgins of metal!!??
Tony's greatest strength was his ability to write music that fit the current singer he had. Whatever strengths and weaknesses the singer had Iommi wrote music that would highlight their strengths and stay away from their weaknesses.
It’s a massive shame they only did one album together I don’t understand how people can say ian wasn’t a good fit, even Ozzy said born again was the best album since he’s been there.
My favorite Sabbath album, and the cover is classic .. Born Again and Maiden's Killers, the two best album covers of the 80s .. great video, Vincent Price - icon
+StartabandRoxy And actually, the bad taste element is very fitting, when put alongside the cheesy but cool cover of Born Again, the cheap Gillan lyrics and the hammy performance of Vincent Price.
O Ozzy tem tanto marketing em cima dele,más pra mim, sinistro mesmo é o Tommy Yomi, esse parece que tem parte com o Demo...é genial, super esquisito, fala pouco,não expõe sua vida pessoal...
I'm so tired of the Ronnie vs Ozzy debate. I think Ian fucking rocked on this album and Iommi shoulda bent over backwards to keep this guy. NOW he realizes that 3 strikes and you are out. Because Ian went on to Record Perfect Strangers with Purple and Sabbath really fell to the wayside and never recovered.
was this an actual video for this song? or was this video made by someone? either way, it fuckin rocks....love the way iommi is in a trance at the end.....fucking evil man....fuckin love it

Amazing how Born Again was lost in the shuffle over the years. It has become my favorite Sabbath.
Maybe, but in all fairness The Mob Rules was a bitch to follow.
I enjoy Born Again. It's the tour I was able to finally see Black Sabbath.
To me, Born Again has always been my favourite, since the first time I listened to my bro’s cassette as a toddler. 🤘
I love "Born Again" so much!!!
It's a bad album. And wasn't supposed to be called Black Sabbath.
He had a voice like no one else. many tried to imitate him, but no one matched his range and power.
Save Iron Maidens Lead Singer.
As much as I like Ian Gillan,I'd say Rob Halford is a match for him. Dio doesn't have the high pitched screaming ability but I still think Dio is the best! But everyone is different!
one of the scariest songs Sabbath ever made
Flor the fuckin priests. Pa los nchis sacerdotes. Cheers from. Mexico
Yes I so agree 💯💯💯
The most underrated album of the 80s imo. And in my top 5 of all Sabbath's albums. Great vid man.
Gillan's screams in Disturbing the Priest and David Lee Roth's in On Fire are the two best and terrifying ones in music!
When I saw Van Halen in concert back around 1976 at the Pasadena Civic it was the bassist Michael Anthony who hit all those high notes as the backup singer, not David Lee Roth.
My fav Sabbath album by far, even over Ronnies work , and I love Dio , Gillan is just that awsome in this . I mean who fuking screams like that....
Love all of this album.. this song is very diabolical😻🖤😼

Killer heavy song! Gillian is a God of voice!

This song begins with Ian singing like a mad man!
The best demonic scream

" Disturbing the Preist " , " Trashed " and " Keep It Warm " are enough for a first time LP release. A follow-up would have been " Brilliant ". ✌
Purple Sabbath
never has the gap of talent been so wide between the song and video production.
