- This is footage from April 26th, 1986-around 1987 just after the tragic disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant which killed thousands in the months after the disaster took place, and also displaced around 50,000 people from their homes in Pripyat.

This is my town, school, home ... My childhood passed here ...
Pripyat was such a beautiful city, I have been fascinated by the Chernobyl disaster for years now and I hope to visit the place one day. I could only imagine such a nice new modern city abandoned and literally a matter of hours for eternity.
noriceformeplz me too, i find it so fascinating. I don’t know why but there’s something so cool about the Communist Block apartment buildings that make up the whole city of Pripyat.
What would have been even worse was leaving all of what you owned behind including your beloved pets that were killed! So very sad...
@@garbagebanditdayz819 There is a replacement city built in the same style I forgot the name but It's a true sight to see. It allows you to see what Pripyat would've been today without Chernobyl. The style was kept the same all these years and still stands today,
@@b3j8 Not all pets died. Some pets survived. Most of them ran off into the wilderness pretty quickly only some stayed within the city. There weren't many pet corpses that the liquidators found. Indicating a majority of them ran off and realised something was horribly wrong. Especially dogs know when something isn't right.
Exactly
In my opinion Pripyat was more creepy in the first years after the accident. When visiting the place now it is just a ruin claimed by nature. You can't really Imagine people living there. But in 1987 when everything was still intact? It must have felt scary walking down those streets. The fact that there 100+ pets starving to death inside those buildings did not make it less depressing...
I prefer the footage from the early days of the accident. It’s truly very fascinating to watch. You get to see how everything looked in it’s hay day before the eventual decay.
@@garbagebanditdayz819 do you have the link to the arel view in this video I was trying to find it my self but no luck can you help me
Akashi Takahashi I’ll have to find it again i can’t remember what it’s called.
Akashi Takahashi Never mind lol I found it. th-cam.com/video/E92TnfQuQps/w-d-xo.html its a very fascinating video of the zone in the early years after the accident.
@@garbagebanditdayz819 thanks I just I was fascinated in this town loved it
What a pity. Pripyat was a beautiful town.
Movies Beautiful to the Soviets
Pripyat became a City in 1979
@@TheMisphit actually pripyat was first found and built in February 1970 it was the home for the power plant workers only so there where no jobs in the city for men except at the power plant then people started moving and there was even more jobs for men and then it was evacuated after the chernobyl disaster in 1986
Yes
Sad......this city could have easily been on my bucket list travel wise, along with Dubai, Tokyo, the Caribbean, etc.
My RESPECT!! for all this people who live this tragedy 26Apr1986.
I agree and respect should be shown to the liquidators who had to put their lives at risk where robots could not cope with the irradiation
The 34th anniversary was yesterday. Rest in peace Pripyat and those lost
Just A Jawa Using WiFi That’s right. Never forget them. Always remember them. ∞. 26.04.1986.
@@DarkFalconAnimations exactly, heroes all of them. Vichnaya pamyat to them
0:18 It was sadly that the children didn't had fun to the Bumper Cars, The ferris wheel and more.. Also I can't stop of thinking about Pripyat, now it sits abandoned for 24,000 years...
Me too
Nie potrafię wyrazić słowami mojego współczucia dla tych ludzi. Tragedia zmarłych i żywych, Boże opiekuj się Nimi zawsze...
um i almost cried to this video cuz this city was so beautiful and the song
Me too I almost weeped because of its beauty
It hurts I don't know why
LOVE the Soviet panel style buildings! So modest and uniform, and simple!
Some of this old footage contains white flashes. This is not because the footage is old. It's actually the radiation caught on tape.. Sad to realize most people didn't know it was that bad at the moment.
Its such a somber feeling watching all of pripyat's residents on them buses and the officers directing traffic out of town
Rip my Home Town.... im so sorry for my Home Town i Was born in
Where did you go when you first left Pripyat?
You are from pripyat I didn't know but how was your life before the disaster and where did you move after the evacuation I wish there was something that can get rid of radiation so pripyat will get it's population back from 0 to 50,000 or more and I even wish this disaster had never happened so we can see how will pripyat look like today with so many people
What makes this video sad is that the whole chernobyl disaster could had been prevented if they didint press az-5 and had better staff. The reactor was poisoned and by pressing az-5 they inserted graphite rods inside which made it worse and thats why it exploded
Thanks for making me cry
Nice video man, I hope you get more subscribers🇺🇸🇺🇸
Life After People
Johnny Cash - Hurt
ghost towns at the beginning is crazy because everything is intact but no one is there
The footage from 2:57 to 3:16 is from 1988.
Wonderful footage! I'm putting together a then-and-now video collage of Pripyat. Where can I find the licensed footage?
So sad. Just look how this beautiful city got ruined by a nuclear reactor. I really hope that they clean Pripyat and make it a happy city again.
Tigran Saakow sadly, it’s impossible for another 1,000 years
ⴰⵙⴰⴼⴰⵕ ⵏⴰⵔⴰⵖⴰⵙ what? Demolosh what???
I'M WITH YOU TIGRAN! :(
I wish they would restore whole city but they do it with a few rooms...
I wish this disaster never happened and I even wish there was something a thing to get rid of radiation so pripyat will no longer be a ghost town and it will get it's population back from 0 to 5,000 or more and more
I feel nostolgic.. the camera filter and happy kids and their parents..
1:20 u can see the radiation on camera despite being a vhs at that time
What a beautiful town but after 26/4/1986,its not have people more, and now,its a ghost town
Yes it is but tourist sometimes sleep there for few days and then leave back to kiev,if this disaster never happened then the people would stay I wish there was something a thing to get rid of radiation so this town can get it's population back from 0 to 50,000 or more and more
We miss you so much BUT YOU ARE IN OR HEARTS ❤️!!!
GarbagebanditDayz great choice going with Johny’s covert of Hurt!!! IMO the absolute best cover ever….
HURT is written by Trent Raznor.....
SONG: “Hurt” cover By Johnny Cash
Long time no see footage with children in Ikarus buses.
Something oddly fascinating about Soviet Russia, nuclear things and the mystery surrounding it
I don't understand one thing. While he filmed why do not radiation appears on video? Like small flash dots like it had happened in a video which shows soldiers cleaninng up the city from radiation, a couple of days after the disaster in CNPP?
Riha I believe that footage was shot from an 8mm Camera where as the other footage was shot on VHS and the radiation acted differently.
U can see radiation but acting different today u see white dots on camera footage if the radiation is high or very high it could affect the recording quality(Gamma radiation acts this way)
Ah.. I miss those ol' times... If that nuclear power plant wouldn't exploded, nothin' about this could happened............ :'')..
Looks better in 2022
when we see Pripyat, we are seeing the cementery of the human race
Galo Yepez Castrillon it’s very sad but very true...
*CEMENTERY*
Not true. We are seeing what a stupid government achieves. This was the fault of the government and wasn't an "accident" this was the result of direct human error which they knew about, they knew about this design flaw and kept operating. Any western government would inmediately shut down after finding such design flaws which trust me are discovered almost instantly with the daily inspections. A disaster of this scale has a 0.5% chance of happening with current inspections. And with adequate personel about 0.2%.
Very sad 😥😥😥
3:17 "If I could start again"
I don't understand why the rides weren't cleaned and taken away. The city could also have been saved by spraying down the houses and streets with high-pressure cleaners and removing the soil in the surrounding parks and green areas. 🤔
Yeah but what would you do about the radiation cloud(fallout)coming from the chernobyl nuclear power plant
😪😭
Nice job, you stole this footage in the first minute of the video from telecon studios, and you gave zero credit to Valery Starodumov. He was a hardworking man and a hero. He didn't just take this footage for you to just steal and use as your own, he was a liquidator and cameraman and we must appreciate his ultra rare footage that we wouldn't be able to see without him risking his life.
@Rustycaddy I realize how rude it was not giving credit to Telecon studio and Valery Starodumov and how disrespectful it was. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the Liquidators and the people in general involved the cleanup of Ukraine and Belarus. There’s really no excuse for me to not have credited them at all. I love Telecon Studio and all their high quality footage they post. My apologies
@@garbagebanditdayz819 It's alright, I am happy you apologized. I just was a little upset because Valery Starodumov was recently diagnosed with cancer, and it's so sad to hear about this horrible news. We can only hope he lives a long and healthy life.
Ikarus buses made in Hungary.
Why Johnny Cash?
Angel D I don’t know, just seemed right I guess. For me at least
Interpellée part ce genre de documentaire....
If the Nuclear Power Plant doesn't existed.... Pripyat could be still alive again with the people that they died and they left the city behind of us with our friends (The Dogs)
I am sorry, but cyty was made after reactor, just so workers can live closer to it. It wouldnt have existed, but yes. It would have bean nice if nothing had happend. Rip lots of ppl.
What if the disaster it self never happened so pripyat will still have people and we can't even remove the power plant because pripyat's electricity works with nuclear energy and if there was a way to remove radiation pripyat would get it's population back from 0 to 50,000 or more
no chernobyl nuclear power plant= no pripyat ;)
Эта зарубежная музыка,ну ни к селу ни к городу!!!
Западная музыка никак не вписывается в эту картину!!!!!

How about the school girls on bus?
