    It feels so good when I figure out what is best for an orchid and she responds with blooms! So satisfying! My favorite orchid today was the fragrant purple single bloom, which I believe you said is part phalaenopsis and something that starts with a "t". What a stunning color!

    Now those are truly a bunch of beauties. Some of those are on my wish list and others are not. Not because they are easy to grow but because they may get big or I am just not a fan of them. Love this video and keep them coming. Love going on these journeys with you. Have a great day.

    I just bought myself a Mariposa. Such a huge flower! The texture of the leaves and the flower is also fabulous. I found myself one that has 2 spikes (or perhaps I have two plants in one pot), and mottled leaves - just everything about her is so cute. The price was not cute, but worth it.

    I have stepped up my orchid care in repotting,feeding ,watering. I have found odd medium like peat & plastic mini plugs clogging up roots, brown over fertilized roots , dead roots , split & damaged leaves from new shop bought plants after flowers have gone. With care new roots & leaves do come so it is worth it. Cheers

    I have the YangYang Blue Angel (YangYang Blueberry x bellina coerulea). It's the same color, but quite a bit more faded; it's grown on me. It's very very hardy for a Phalaenopsis.

    Hey Danny, love your videos :) You helped me save the orchid I bought my wife last year, after a rough winter with tons of root rot and then dehydration... They were left with 3-4 roots, but now suddenly many more are growing!!!
    I have a question. I'm rehabilitating the phal, and it finally started growing 5-6 new roots. However an old leaf is blocking them, I can see them struggling to penetrate the leaf. What should I do?
    Another thing is my old flower spikes from last year didn't fall off, they are completely dry but still very well connected to the base of the orchid.
    I could really use your advice :)
    Thanks, and keep up the great videos!

    • @karenacostakam
      @karenacostakam 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Flower spikes usually don't fall by themselves, they either dry or they don't, but they stay connected to the plant. If they don't dry it's up to you to cut them, there are lots of theories about what to do with spikes depending on what you expect the plant will do. But if they are completely dry they are not serving any purpose, you can remove them but cutting as close to the base as possible and you don't even need to apply cinnamon as it is dry/dead tissue and the plant is not going to catch infections through that cut.

    I have a problem with one of my Cattleya rex seedlings: The orchid lost almost half of its roots after mounting (I was prepared for that) but I was sure that the new growth had not put out new roots yet. But when the growth was mature and there were still no roots in sight, I looked at the rhizome and saw that it tried to put out a flush of roots before I purchased it. But the roottips turned black for some reason and remained almost invisible. So I was wrong and if I knew it did put its roots for this season I would not have mounted it. What should I do now? I placed it in a humidity dome because it started to shrivel up. Would you rather let it produce a new growth in winter or try to give it its natural rest period?

    It is said that when the Psychopsis sways in the wind, they look like Butterflies. Also, Mariposa is Spanish for Butterfly.

    Ma'am i had bought a phalaenopsis with very dark purple and curly flowers from a nursery. I repoted it and it grow nicely now almost after a year it has bloomed but the sad part is the color of the blooms has completely changed from the original to a white with dark purple spots. What could be the reason behind this change. If u can share ur email i can send u pics
