The shot looks a lil high, so maybe the lack of blood was because it pooled in his chest cavity because it couldn't drain.

Northern deer are much calmer than southern deer. Have you noticed that?

We got one buddy in SC and he can’t even find a deer on public land to determine if it’s less calm or not. 🤪
