Why would you waste the first log of the tree? Three observations: 1) why use this technique on such small trees unless you have an extremely tight drop zone? It looked like you have a clear drop zone so you should have been able to point your face cut where you wanted it to fall. 2) a half cut from your hinge to the back with a wedge inserted would prevent the tree from leaning back. You could then cut the other side half from the hinge back and the tree would be free to fall away from the back lean even if you had to wedge it. If the tree is slightly larger in diameter you could place a plunge cut behind the hinge and place wedges in the cut openings; then cut the backstrap. This would allow you to wedge over the back leaning tree. 3) I don't understand the logic of cutting at shoulder height where handling the saw is by degrees more difficult (and unsafe) than down below the waist. Cutting low also allows you to use the line of sight gauge on the chainsaw to ensure your tree is aimed correctly at the chosen drop zone. On a back leaning tree your push tool almost becomes unusable because it doesn't have enough leverage. Wedges work significantly better for leveraging over a back leaner. Hopefully these tips help.
Wow thanks for sharing! lol.... do you think a humbolt face cut would have made a difference? Or even an open face cut? pretty sure it would have they have more of a tendency to fall downward and not snap and jump forward
The film is the real deal. The footage is from summer of 2023, when I tried to make a video how to cut the key notch. I had to train it couple of times...
My eyes were on stalks with the second tree!
You remained calm and collected.

The trees have fallen, and you're still standing. Doesn't look much like failure to me. 👍
No sé dónde está el fracaso. Si has resuelto el problema. Buen trabajo.
I would not call this failures but challenges and you did well!

Lähinnä hyvää oppia teiltä, mikäli failitkin tulee esiin. Kiitos niistä😮
Aika on nyt kypsä tehdä näistä epäonnistuneista otoksista omia videoita. Kiitos Aku!
Good job. Sorry, I didn’t see too much failure???

Kiitos!

The bottom idea was to create content and Mr. Finnish Lumberjack succeeded perfectly.

What a waste of wood and time.
At least he isn't falling material.
We are wasting our time too

Tosi vaikeita puita 😮
Ja vaikea tekniikka. Treeniä vaan lisää
